I was so looking forward to reading this, based as it is in Wigtown, Scotland’s book town and I was absolutely not disappointed. What a wonderful read, in the words of the author,
‘it’s a pared down, stress less existence, the edited version ;a much-needed holiday for my head.’

Forget shop till you drop experiences and triumph over ‘stuff’, instead try swimming in the cold sea, knit and natter, bee keeping, lots of lovely bookshops and friendly welcoming folk. Kathleen Hart is a magician - conjuring up Wigtown - the sights, the smells, the sounds.

When you read a book you look for the perfect place, time and person - ta da!! Here it is !!

A real balm for the soul - I loved it.

This is my first book by this author. The frist thing is thus author writing style got me gripped from the start the attention to detail really got me. Kathleen's story of recovery and self healing is so heartwarming. Thanks to netgalley for this read and if course Kathleen.

This gorgeous book transported me out of my own grief and gave me hope for finding my own Devorgilla. Hart, a breast cancer survivor, buys a home she’s never seen in person. The cottage is in Wigtown, Scotland, the book capital of the country, and Hart begins a painstaking restoration of the old home, all the while meeting the unique and special residents of Wigtown. This is a story of new beginnings and healing through nature and good friends. Highly recommended

Devorgilla days, tells Kathleens story as she recovers from breast cancer surgery, and other surgery leaving her weak in pain and a shadow of her former self! Big life choices are made as Kathleen leaves her home and partner and moves to Scotland to live a more basic/Simple life, the slower pace of life, seasonal food, daily swims in the sea are all part of the healing process for Kathleen and as she establishes herself in the community, making friends, joining groups and being accepted by the locals she begins to enjoy her new way of life and flourishes as her recovery continues!
Thank you net galley for this early read.
