Everyone has feelings, sometimes big and sometimes small. Sometimes they're the same as those around us, but sometimes we see the world in very different ways. When we work together, our different feelings can help us to create something amazing.

This is a wonderful picture book covering a broad range of emotions and filled with a diverse range of characters. I can see it working brilliantly in nurseries and Early Years classes in schools, as a way to introduce different feelings and prompt discussions about the different ways we can see events and opportunities.

Its lovely, song-like quality which makes it fun to read aloud.

This is a great book showing a range of young children experiencing lots of 'big' feelings and how they learn to deal with those in everyday play situations.

The children in the story experience feeling sad, angry, frustrated, happy and more but through the book they learn to identify their feelings, talk about them and emphasise with other children's feelings too. They work together to come up with solutions through their play.

There are great illustrations throughout the story and lovely rhyming text that children will enjoy.

This would be the perfect book to share in an early years setting to start discussions on the all important topics of sharing, including others and working together that come up on a daily basis! A great book promoting emotional literacy, inclusion and diversity. I would recommend every school to buy a copy.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bloomsbury Children's Books for this eARC.

A wonderful, uplifting short story that addresses empathy and promotes emotional literacy, diversity and inclusion in an easy and simple way which toddlers and young children will be able to follow and understand.

This book has lovely illustrations and a diverse variety of characters which toddlers and children will be able to relate to, along with their different types of play. It uses a lot of emotional language, addressing many of the feelings young children will often encounter during play, from happy and hopeful to tired and frustrated. It uses the repeated refrain “I have big feelings. You have them too. How can I help? What can we do?” And then comes up with simple solutions on how these can be tackled and over come. It promotes problem solving and working together and is a book that acknowledges and names feelings, which helps children learn to understand them.

I think my little peeps in my setting would love this book and I think it will support them well in their Personal, Social, and Emotional development. It is a book I plan to make know you my managers, as I think we need this for our setting.

4☆ Engaging, Heart Warming and Inspiring Read.

Big Feelings Is a Poignant and Heartwarming Children's Picture Book, exploring different emotions children face on a day to day basis.

It explores how to identify the feeling / emotion, how to express the feeling and then how to act on it. Ie, say sorry, talk about how your feeling, seeing other people's points of view, it's ok to be different.

The story centres around a Children's Play Area, the children need to work together, to help clean it up, so they can use it to play in.

However things don't always go to plan when other people have different ideas and nothing is really getting resolved.
But can the children come together to work out a plan of action?

This is where the book helps children to identify with different emotions through the story and illustrations.

For example; feeling frustrated when something doesn't go according to plan.
Feeling inspired when you see something you can create.
Feeling Sad when all your friends are arguing or when you are being left out the group because you are different.
Feeling Scared to do something.
Feeling Excited as a new adventure awaits.

All these emotions are relatable to children and adults at some point.
But it's about learning how to deal with those feelings, being kind to each other, working together and communicating and understanding it's ok to have different Feelings and that your not alone.

Big Feelings is an inspirational and uplifting book, that is perfect, for a story time read. The illustrations are beautifully presented and really bring the story to life. I loved that the Author was diverse with the characters.
This book really needs to be in all Primary Schools as it would make  fantastic teaching material.

Big Feelings is a beautifully illustrated book that my twins have really enjoyed. They've found the past year difficult and have experienced grief and loss in ways that are hard to navigate as a parent. They really enjoyed how this book talked about feelings and how they aren't alone.

This book has a lovely array of representation and diversity which was brilliant to see. Really addresses the complexity of feelings and how overwhelming this can be for a child. Reiterates that the child is not alone in having those feelings. The illustrations were gorgeous and clearly show how you would deal with some feelings like being left out and then how to pick yourself up from that. Great pace to keep the child turning pages and easy key phrases to stick with them. Would highly recommend this, especially with lockdown easing and the focus that will be so important on childs mental health as they return to schools.

I hate to say this but I was a little disappointed by this book. I loved the illustrations, the colours and the premise of the book but I felt the language was a little tricky for non-native speakers especially.

I loved this book and think it will be an excellent addition to my classroom to get the children talking about their feelings.

We currently work on the main feeling they know, including happy, sad, and angry but this book will help explain the bigger feelings that are not as simplified.

Big feelings is a beautiful book for younger children. Preschool and early years children stand to gain a lot from this.

The concept of having and accepting big feelings is highly relevant. With minimal words and nice illustrations, kids are encouraged to identify & accept their emotions. This normalising of all emotions feels very helpful to develop empathy skills and promote emotional literacy.

Accompanying illustrations are well done and very appealing.

This is a book I would highly recommend to be read to young children on a regular basis.

My thanks to Netgalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

I'd like to highly recommend this book. It's so needed and useful especially when you read it during the mental health week. I think every primary school should have this book for every class to support kids to understand their feelings and emotions. Well done!

This showcases some of the finest in children's picture book writing.

Never twee, this book celebrates emotions, including the big ones, with a dose of humour and illustrations that are never short of stunning. Beyond the fun rhymes, there is depth in the way the pictures and words communicate. There are many hidden details that children will delight in uncovering, and understanding the action shown in the pictures will make it excellent discussion.

This is ideally suited as a fun class book for reading aloud and learning about emotions, or a cosy bedtime ritual to curl up and look through the pictures.

Simple premise, but very powerful.
The illustrations are beautiful particularly the nature and the skys. Wow! So calming. Loved it.

The characters in the book are diverse, and the rhyming text is charming.

Very sweet book - think it is a good starting point to get children to open up with their feelings.
