Slow Motion by Jennifer Pierce is a story about two friends - Angela and Owen - during their senior year of high school. Angela comes from a family that is well-respected in their town of Westview. She is popular and her future seems to be right on course to be everything that her family wants and seems to "need" her to be. Their perfect image is everything to them. Then there is Owen whose family is anything but perfect. There is a big element of small town living where everybody knows everything about you and how hard that image is to change. I don't usually read YA fiction but I really enjoyed this early copy from NetGalley.

The book started off very slow but once I got into the flow of the story I did start to really enjoy it. I really felt for Angela and I feel like she's a character that a lot of people could relate to, but for me I wish her thoughts and battles in her head were acted upon more. You did see this happening a little towards the end of the book but this made the ending feel really rushed, I didn't like this so much because it was a really emotional ending that was spread over two short chapters. Overall, I would recommend this book as it is an easy read and I have seen many good reviews on it, the story is really great but I just didn't get into it very quickly so for me it felt really slow and then really rushed at the end. This is why I gave the rating for 3 stars.

I found nothing appealing in this book. Poorly formed characters and a scattered storyline made it very difficult to finish.
