I am not the targeted market of this book so I felt it was important to read this with my son to give a fair review. He loved this book and had the giggles the whole time we were reading. We finished it in 2 days which is amazing with a child who gets easily distracted.
Thumbs up from us!
First up, a big thank you that I could try out this book. Sadly, we just didn't click. I tried around 25%, but I just couldn't get into the book. And the biggest problem was Freddy. Who I just didn't like. I mean he thinks he is better than anyone, he doesn't want to go to school because of reasons he thinks are important, he hates the rules they made without understanding that it is freaking dangerous to have lasers and that given his control over his flying it is a hazard for him and the people in school, I mean flying into a window, crashing into a room? Not good. I also don't get why he was immediately waving the discrimination flag around, wtf? Then comes the part in which a bully does something mean and instead of just leaving it with rescuing the lunchbox he does something more and I was just shaking my head. Freddy... please.
Plus, I am a bit tired of the Oh my older brother is so perfect to everyone and that is annoying-trope.
