A fantastic read by a new author for me. I am converted as a fan and absolutely cannot wait to read more. This is unique and original. I have been pulled in and unable to put this one down.
I cannot say anything negative about this gorgeous book. it has been a fantastic read.
Sally Parker had a morbid fear of big social events and it was for this reason that she was crouching down low in the shoe section of her wardrobe...
Sally Parker is struggling to find the hero inside herself. All she wants to do is lie down. Her husband Frank has lost his business, their home and their savings, in one fell swoop. Their bank cards are being declined. The children have gone feral. And now the bailiffs are at the door. What does an ordinary woman do when the bottom falls out? Sally Parker is about to surprise everybody. Most of all herself..
This is such a light-hearted, pick me up, that is in excellent timing for the world right now. The perfect book to read with a nice glass of wine outside in the sun ☀️🥂
Sally and Frank Parker have it all until they lose it all! They have led almost separate lives but need to work together as a family to sort their mess out.
As soon as I saw the author's name I knew I had to read this book. It's a nice, relaxed paced read. A few laugh out loud moments although I was expecting more humour. But that was just because I am aware the author is a comedian and not down to a bad book. I was given the chance to listen to this via audiobook and it is narrated by Mel and she really does bring to story to life. I do find that audiobooks bring out the best in any book. I enjoyed the storyline and it's the perfect beach read.
The book centers on Sally and her family as they have an unfortunate financial fall from grace and are forced to learn more about each other in an attempt to work together and survive.
Firstly, I want to say that I loved the narration in this book. Mel was (unsurprisingly) absolutely excellent throughout the entire thing. Unfortunately the plot and the characters fell flat for me. It jumped around a lot between characters and there were so many of them that it was hard to get my bearings in the beginning. It was hard to really connect with any of them or the storyline and while I was interested in what was going to happen to them I ultimately never felt particularly excited about any of it. That being said I'm sure there are plenty of people who will relate to different aspects of this book but unfortunately it just wasn't for me.
