Thank you net galley for allowing me to read this in return for an honest review.
I love self help type books , they always interest me abs this was no different.
Lots of small tips of self care you could use when struggling. The ideal book to gift a friend
An uplifting book giving you a host of achievable self care activities and rituals.
Unlike other books this does not overwhelm you with wonderful activities which seem risky impossible when you are in the depths of anxiety or depression. These are achievable and with minimum fuss.
I’ve read lots of self-help books for anxiety, and stress etc., but this one feels a little different. The language is accessible, easy to read and understand. I think this is really important when reading at a difficult time, when your head can’t cope with heavy jargon. This book has helpful, practical ideas that can be tried straight away. It’s a helping hand during difficult times, and develops good habits to help when you need them most - brilliant.
Thank you to Octopus Publishing, Aster and Netgalley for an eARC of this book to read and review
A really good beginners guide on how to focus on ourselves more, and how to carve out moments of self care. I really liked how it covered burnout specifically as this is such an important issue in modern working life!
This is a great little book to help anyone during difficult times. This is very accessible, and gives good advice, as well as interesting information. I would recommend this to anyone who feels they need a little help with their mental health.
Thanks to Suzy Reading, NetGalley and Octopus Publishing for this copy;
WOW, yet another fantastic book by Suzy Reading. Its perfect for these troubled times we are living in.
The book is full of helpful ideas for self care and is not all pie in the sky. Really relatable and great book. I have bought a hard copy of it to go with my other Suzy Reading book (Self Care Revolution)
Thanks to Netgalley and Octopus Publishing for the ARC.
A great book for the times we are living through. It is calm and relaxing giving readers tips and suggestions to tackle things and strategies to work out how to cope. It is a book you can dip into and the parts on grief are very supportive. I recommend this for all of us in the present situation.
This was an absolute gem of a book. This came at me at a time where I was hurting and grieving and reading this, as well as trying some of the self-care methods was not only really helpful, but healing. I immediately bought this book for me, as well as for someone very close to me who is also going through loss.
I found this to be a very calming and relaxing book, whilst talking about issues. Lots of useful advice in here, on all sorts of issues.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
i absolutely loved this book.
many of us need to seek self care more than ever before, and this book broke it down in a way that is accessible to everyone.
i find alot of self care books tend to be full of ideas that are really difficult for many to apply to their lives, but i didn't find that with this book!
i really do rate it, especially for folks who are new to the premise of 'self care'.
a great book!
This was a nice book with lots of advises and exercices and support but I do think this is better to read some parts when you need it, not in one go like I did. A few of the instructions for the exercices weren't clear and I couldn't copy them. The format was nice, with beautiful illustrations with tips for each sections.
I loved reading through this book and I find myself constantly going back to it. Some great, little activities throughout, and very informative. Easy to read and navigate throughout the book, you can just skip ahead to the bits you want/need. Would recommend to anyone who needs any type of self-care, for whatever reason.
A beautiful companion for challenging times, full of words of encouragement and wisdom. A delight of a book, and I really enjoyed it.
This is a beautifully designed book, I loved the illustrations. The information and advice is also great for the current times. Lovely book.
This is the second of Suzy Reading's self care books I have read after finding her first book useful as a reminder of how to bring self care into my life. Self Care for Tough Times looks at what self care is, the therapeutic properties of yoga, stress and burnout, grief and loss and change and transition. If you have read Suzy's previous book you may not find very many ideas here that are new, although I found the section on grief and loss particularly helpful. She puts forward tips on how to cope, how to understand our emotions, exercises to help and how to continue our connections to the deceased. Overall I found this to be an accessible and helpful guide full of useful tips.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital ARC
I think this is a good book, will be helpful to many people and is definitely needed at the moment. I’m just a bit torn on it, I wasn’t happy with the tone the author used at times it felt a bit like a stern parent , which isn’t what I’m looking for when I need comfort and support, I also found it not so clear at times, I’ve done CBT, self care and mindfulness a lot so I’m experienced in the self help books, so if I was confused at points not sure how someone new to self care would be. Interesting and did have some helpful pointers and guides, but just not keen on the overall feeling as I read.

Thinking about how I feel about this book for a review has been quite difficult.
I think the concept is great, and definitely think it's a book we probably all need - especially with the world being the way it has been for the last year or so... thanks Covid!!
i absolutely adored the layout of this book. It's easy to digest, and the text is broken down into sections, with backgrounds, illustrations and diagrams. This i loved!!
However, by about 75% of the way through it felt a bit repetitive. I don't know if this was because I was reading the book in one go - in sequence, and it is meant for dipping in and out of?
There is definitely some good advice here, and it is certainly beautiful to look out - I'm just not sure how I feel about it as a whole.
