This Book tells the story of Beth who’s a successful Nurse in New York who decides to move back to the uk after an accident at work and after finding out her husband is cheating on her with her work colleague
what follows is amazing story of Beth Finding her feet again in a small Village in the Lake District where her best Friend Jaz Lives and Jaz gets Beth a job working for her team with the NHS a lot different from the private place where Beth worked in New York.
Beth fits right in with the Villagers where she loved to in the Lake District and finds herself in a Love Triangle with her neighbour Next door.
This Book also touches on and deals with a child Called Jake with a heart condition and it will make you laugh, cry
This story is so good it touches on friendships, relationship and medical conditions
I would recommend this book to everyone and would give it 5 out of 5 stars
Beth is back in the UK after a series of bad things in the US. And almost the first thing she does is get into an accident with Simon and his son Jake. Jake's got a heart condition and a big heart. He's also worried about his dad, who is still mooning about Tamsin, Jake's mom who left them. Beth and Simon tell this tale of two people who find a way to become friends and then, perhaps more. Except there's a wrench or two ahead. Despite the tropes, this is a lovely story, with good characters. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. One to read when you'd like a smile.
Wonderful, heart breaking, uplifting. Absorbing and hard to put down, set in the beautiful lake district.
A well written heart warming book. The characters are easy to like and I enjoyed reading the ups and downs of their lives as they dealt with some pretty emotional subjects. It was at times predictable but I did enjoy it and admit to a few tears along the way.
Thank-you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for an arc of this book.

Seven-year-old Jake's heart is failing, and he doesn't want to leave his dad, Simon, alone. So he makes a decision: to find Simon someone to love before he goes.
Beth is determined to forget the past. But even when she leaves New York to start afresh in a Lake District village, she can't shake the secrets that haunt her.
Single dad Simon still holds a candle for the woman who left him years ago. Every day is a struggle to earn a living while caring for his beloved son. He has no time for finding someone new.
But Jake is determined his plan will succeed - and what unfolds will change all three of them forever.
A beautifully written, emotionally heartwarming story. I loved the characters and their interactions. Simon and Beth enriched each other's lives in so many ways, and I enjoyed seeing their friendship develop. It was Jake, though, who stole the show, such a wonderful character, a real gem.
Based in the Lake District, descriptions of the fells and country life transport you to that most beautiful part of England.
I am happy to recommend it.
I want to thank NetGalley, Hodder & Stoughton and author Katie Marsh for a pre-publication copy to review.
Beth moves to the Lake District running away from her previous life in New York - from her now ex-husband and a job where she made a colossal mistake. She meets Simon and his son, Jake, who has a heart condition and the rest is history.
This book is like a warm hug from an old friend - your typical women's literature novel but an enjoyable one with an interesting storyline. While the ending was a little predictable (we know what we're getting with this genre), I relished in the journey.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review
The story centres around Jake. His heath is poor due to an heart condition. He's been sheltered from most of the worry. His parents are separated. His dad, Simon, still wants to be with his mum. Jake doesn't want his dad to be alone so he makes it his mission in life to find him a girlfriend. I found it quite amusing that Jake would approach random females to ask if they were single and would they like a date with him. It gave the seriousness of the heart condition some much needed light. When Beth literally crashes into Jake he believes she's the one.
I really enjoyed this book. It's quite emotional and heartwarming. There is some lighter moments and I just adored Jake. We join the story for Jakes third heart operation and I just needed to read so I could find out what happens to Jake and did he find a match for his dad. I loved the friendships in the book so uplifting. I will definitely be reading more from this author.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this enjoyable novel.
I think the best thing about this book, is the honesty behind it. Not all relationships run smoothly, and neither can your health, or money situation. There were no quick fixes or magic wands, and yet, I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and how they handled these issues. It all felt very real.
Jake is just so wonderful too. A definite feel-good read.
Such a beautiful book- heartbreaking at times- but the power of love is so wonderful, you can’t help but feel moved by this book and it’s characters.
This book is about a seven year old named Jake, who was born with heart issues and his father, Simon. Jake’s mom ran out on them shortly after Jake was born so Jake’s mission is to find a women for his Dad so he won’t be all alone. Beth, the woman who moves in next door, comes from a bad past she is trying to erase. Jake and Beth develop a sweet friendship as neighbors. Simon has not let go of the love he has for Jake’s mom but he eventually warms up to Beth as well. Simon is due for a major surgery on his heart and this book follows all the events leading up to this. I thought this book was a good read with a satisfying ending. I give it 3.5 stars. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book.
I’m not one for romantic books but this captured my attention as the story centres on a little boy with half a heart and his determination to live and be the voice of reason for his father.
With different narrative perspectives throughout, the story of Beth and Simon was a romantic one and one I thoroughly enjoyed. The art of deception, confusion and finally resolution made it a thrilling read; if I can say that.
Again, I’m not one for romance novels but this definitely broke my heart and mended it.
This is such a lovely story; well written and very moving too. I was drawn into the story straight away and became quickly involved with the characters. There is sadness and heartache in this story but also humour and hope, which makes it so readable. I loved it from beginning to end and found it really hard to put down.
The characters are so well written and very easy to relate to, even though I have never been through anything like they had I felt I understood them all. I loved Beth, she is trying to escape her past by moving away and trying to keep to herself. She is so sad but cannot help but be drawn to her new neighbours and this brings her back to life. I so wanted her to find herself and move on.
Simon and Jake are a team, they have to be with Jake's illness. I admired Simon so much, he strived against so much to make Jake safe and to give him the best life he could. At times I just wanted to give him a nudge and a hug sometimes. Jake, well, Jake is just wonderful, such an amazing little boy who is so determined.
This is a beautiful story that is realistic with no magical cures or fairy godmothers, but it is realistic, heartwarming and thoroughly enjoyable. I would highly recommend reading it.
This book is so real it captured my heart.
Unbreak Your Heart by Katie Marsh is a book that will make you laugh, cry and hug the ones you love.
Beth has returned to the UK to escape from her past in New York. A recent divorce and a work place tragedy have knocked her off balance and she is hoping that some time away from the hustle and bustle of the city will help her clear her mind and figure out what is next. Her return gets off to a less than ideal start however when she arrives with a literal bang and crosses paths with a cute seven year old and his less than impressed dad. Jake is seven and despite being born with a heart defect he is determined to live life to the full. He is due to have another surgery in the near future to try to help , but is worried about something going wrong. His mother left when he was just a baby and he is determined that if things go wrong, his dad won't be left alone, He's a boy on a mission and Beth seems like the perfect candidate to be his dad's new girlfriend. The snag in his plan is that Simon, his dad, is still in love with the woman who left all those years ago, and seems to have taken an instant dislike to Beth.
This is not a book that you pick up looking for thrills and surprises, it is a gentle heartfelt story that takes the reader on an emotional journey, and while it may be predictable that for me does not make it any less enjoyable. The author has done a wonderful job with her characters , Jake is an absolute delight, full of mischief, determined despite the illness that holds him back, and very kind hearted and caring. Beth is clearly struggling with her confidence after the events that caused her to leave New York, and it was good to see her get this back as the story unfolded. Simon could have been portrayed as the perfect single dad who sacrifices everything for his boy, but we see his struggles and the highs and lows which makes him seem more real and human. There is a streak of comedy woven throughout the book that helps to give a break from all the emotions, and there were a couple of laugh out loud moments when Jake gets a little too carried away.
I read and reviewed an ARC courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher, all opinions are my own.

Beth has decided to return to England, to the Lake District, after the breakdown of her marriage and a terrible mistake whilst at work. She is looking to rebuild her life with a new start in an old place. After an almost collision with Jake, a young boy on his bike, Beth finds somewhere to live and someone to love. The start of her new life almost flounders as her new romance is with Jake’s dad Simon. He and Jake have been abandoned by Jake’s mum after Jake is diagnosed with a life threatening heart condition. Her reappearance on the scene poses a threat to Simon and Beth’s fledgling relationship.
I really enjoyed this novel. The characters were well developed and the depiction of the wider friendship groups was realistic and well drawn. I thought the only character which felt contrived was Simon’s dad, but obviously leopards can change their spots. Overall, a pleasant light romance with hidden depths.
A lovely story! You wo7ld think it would be a typical romance but this book was so much more . A really interesting story with strong characters the reader invested in. I enjoyed Katie’s writing style . A heartwarming read that I would recommend

This book is just gorgeous, the writing and the story. I read it in one day, I had to know what happened to Jake! The book is so well written and it's such an emotional story, I had to devour it - brilliant.
Oh this was such a good read. Initially I thought it might be a bit twee but I loved the characters and how their relationships unfolded
Seems as though everyone was running from past disasters but in a wonderful Lake District setting old wounds began to heal and new relationships emerged
Who would have thought that such a scenario could be so enjoyable. I really didn't want it to end
A mix of heartwarming and heartbreaking emotions set in the Lake District. Strong believable characters with an enchanting boy, Jake, who suffers from a devastating heart condition which ensures life is one long roller coaster. Despite his young age Jake seems mature beyond his years especially with some of the things he comes out with which detracts slightly. The romance aspect bubbles along beneath with the usual ups and downs due to the usual run of misunderstandings. Lots of tears from all parties but with the constant tension and release surrounding such a condition that Jake suffers from, HLHS, it fits. I hadn't heard of this condition before but now feel I know a little more.
Perfect heartwarming tale of young Jake’s quest to fine his Dad a partner. Beautiful characters, definitely recommend
Running from new York, deep in depression to a long time friend and new job in the lake district. Life couldn't be anymore different. New job, new home and new neighbours. Neighbours turn in to friends. Complicated illness a life limiting condition and choices. Your heart hurts for all the characters involved and hopes for a better outcome. Ex partners return and add to the complications but are treated with respect even as you want to dismiss them. Love weaves it way all through the story right upto the last sentence. Enjoy I did.
