While it is clear that Anna Pattle has tremendous talent for writing, it felt as though the Ascension of Greenville was a rushed introduction to what she can truly offer the literary world. The story itself is prominent, and she successfully writes from many perspectives; it felt as though it were the bones of a story that could have been fleshed out more thoroughly.
Still a great read, just left me wanting more.
This book was a great read. It was interesting and a really quick read. After reading the book I was shocked to find out that Anna Pattle was only 17 years old when she wrote this book. The description and language that was used really brought this story to life. It was interesting and relevant and if you pick it up I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.
I enjoyed this book but it just wasn't my thing! I liked how this book touches important real life topics.
I liked the writing in its own way.... So I'm honestly not sure why it didn't spark my interest.
Overall I would still recommend this book!
The town of Greenville, Utah, is dominated by the Septosect religious cult and its leader Harrison who has ambitions for increasing his religious control over the area. Living amidst the threat of a fatal virus, which could take a whole horde of people at a time, the members of the cult look to the Septosect’s ideals as a way of life, hoping that a divine entity will spare them from their doomsday.
This book sparked my interest due to the description and genre. It is a worthy read that covers important issues relevant to the real world. Issues such as religion, cults, fake news and power come into play. It is not an easy, quick read but one that keeps you reading wanting further information.
This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.
