This was a great read, well crafted with characters that get under your skin! The story flowed from the first page and was twisty and taut. I loved it .

Loved this story! Hit a little too close to home so I may have felt some predictable spots but ultimately love this authors writing and will be reading more past stuff. Thanks for the arc in exchange for an honest review!!!!

This one was really enjoyable. A wide range of realistic, complicated characters with well-motivated actions and plot-turns. Twists are unexpected without being unbelievable. A solid thriller

The Unwelcome Guest by Amanda Robson

Very easy read, it didnt take me long at all. I love Amanda Robson’s writing style.
It wasn’t one of her best books in terms of plot, I felt nothing really actually happened, the ending rather predictable.
The characters made poor choices too.
There was quite alot of mistakes in the book too which hopefully will be corrected before its published.
Thanks to Netgalley for an advanced copy in return for an honest review.

I loved this book so much so I really did not want to put it down and go to work. The opening chapter so reminded me of my mother in law that I could not belief this was a fiction book I was reading. Luckily my life never got this bad. The story is well written and I could in some small measure relate to all the characters and why they went down the routes they took, although Saffron was someone that I would never be friends with, and hope never to meet. The reveal when it came was not a surprise but still well written that it became more than just a clarification of the murderer. This is the first book I have read by this author and will now look at the others she has written. I would truly recommend this book to all as a book that you will struggle to put down.

I recently stumbled into the world of domestic thrillers so this was right up my alley. Suspense, familial drama and weird family dynamics and told from multiple POVs? Yup… it has all that and of course the mother-in-law from liberal Hell who is willing to do whatever she has to in order to get rid of her unwanted daughter-in-law in her own home. An interesting tale with some good suspense and a few twists. I’ve never read this author before so I was unfamiliar with her writing style which I didn’t much like but that’s just me.

I really enjoyed this book. Kept my attention the whole time. Story line was good. I would recommend this book for sure. First time reading anything by this author. Thank you for allowing me to read this book.

Well, I can confirm that this book kept me on the edge of my seat throughout and it was well worth staying up till midnight last night to finish it. It gave me proper creeps, it’s fabulously written, the characters are believable and the books really gets under your skin.
Story revolves around the Jackson family. Caprice, the matriarch mother of Miles and mother-in-law to Saffron. Miles, the preferred son, the philosopher, a devoted husband to Saffron and father to their two boys Ben and Harry. Saffron, the lawyer, working mother, the breadwinner of the family, constantly critised by Caprice for not being good enough wife, mother and a woman. And then comes Hayleigh, the nanny, attractive, young girl with the hots for Miles.
As a reader you enter diary-style story from the point of view of Caprice, Miles, Aiden (Miles’s brother), Saffron and Hayleigh. Story of corruption, jealousy, love, strength and plotting. It’s fantastical, but highly intelligent and it’s a proper battle of wit, truth and trust. And every time you think you’ve sassed it, come another twist you didn’t expect.
Absolutely nerve-wracking book, that I kept thinking about every time I was not able to read more.

The Hell Begins...
When Caprice, mother to Miles and mother-in-law to Saffron, moves into their seemingly happy family home the hell begins. Will the arrival of a new nanny help the cause? That remains to be seen. With short snappy, choppy chapters and told from multiple perspectives this is a thoroughly engaging domestic noir from the first page to the last. Enjoyable and entertaining.

This was a pretty okay book! It was a rollercoaster, and the twist was unexpected! I would definitely recommend it! 4/5 stars!!

Wow, this book gives new meaning to the whole mother in law from hell! Aspects of the characters really annoyed me but I liked them even the mother in law to a degree. Well liking her might be over selling it but I admire her commitment to her cause though I didn't agree with it at all!
The plot was new to me which was refreshing, it had twists and turns which weren't all predictable.
As a ex nanny of 20yrs myself I do dislike this theme of a nanny having alternative motives but I know a good nanny theme doesn't sell as well.
I enjoyed the book and looked forward to picking it back up, I would recommend it to friends and fellow readers. I think this book will make many people grateful for the mother in law they have their selves even if they didn't realise it before.
A great read with suspense and a flowing plot. I particularly enjoyed the end and didn't quite see the twist coming!

This was a really good thriller that kept me reading to find out what was going to happen next. Thanks for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Oh my goodness this book is so messed up but in a good way! The different points of view make for a full and complete story. You will however want to punch a few people in this book.

I enjoyed this book. Tons of twists that kept me up late so I could finish. Thanks to publisher and NetGalley for this ARC.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book. This book was so twisty. I didn’t like the characters in this book. I don’t know how saffron lived with such an arrogant woman, or even put up with her at all. I just wanted to slap her and that was from their first encounter. Centred around one family it was a bit much for me to be honest. Well written and thought out.

The Unwelcome Guest was quite the page turner.
Saffron and her husband Miles have welcomed Miles' mother, Caprice, to live with them in their home. However, Caprice has never much cared for Saffron and has always thought she wasn't good enough for her son. In an effort to relieve some of the tension in the house, Saffron hires a nanny named Hayley to watch her 2 young sons, Ben and Harry. Hayley then finds herself starting to have feelings for Miles. Caprice quickly recognizes this and encourages Haley to act upon her feelings for Miles as soon as possible.
This was my first Amanda Robson book and I highly enjoyed it. I liked the short chapters and that it was told in multiple points of view. The character of Caprice is the perfect villain and the worst mother-in-law imaginable! This was a twisty tale of deceit and deception that kept me fully engaged throughout. I would highly recommend this one.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

She lives in your house. She doesn't like you and you can't kick her out. She's you mother in law and will do everything she can to break up your marriage. This is a cleverly crafted tale of twisted back stabbing from all concerned in the hope of a happy outcome.

I love Robson's books! And I love a good psychological thriller also! This one was great!
This Gripping and addictive read will have you hanging on the edge of your seat!
I loved all.the Cray Cray that was going on!. Really a good quick read for anyone who enjoys thrillers!

The unwelcome guest is centred around a family. We have the wife Saffron the husband Miles the nanny Hayley the mother in law Caprice and Caprice's other son Aiden. Now if you feel you have family drama this book will make any family seek perfect in comparison. Caprice hates Saffron and the feelings mutual. Miles idealises his mother and she him, Aidens in love eith Saffron and Hayley love Miles. Right alot and that isn't even a summary of the book but you get the picture its a jot mess.
So throughout this book I wondered who the unwelcome guest was the assumption was it would be the nanny nut then it felt like Caprice as she moved herself in but what about Aiden. My mind had to hive up as I felt at one point or another everyone was unwelcome.
The storyline is a bit tricky to explain without telling the entire plot. Saffron seems to be the one who has the most people against her yet she was my favourite character even up to the last chapter.
Miles isn't above able character barely likeable for me. He just seems ridiculous naive and I just can't believe a grown mN could be . Caprice is halirious from my point of view as a reader so I loved her. Siddn adds nothing. Hayley is just as naive as Milles but she is only 18.
If you have read my darling you will know how Amanda Robson likes to layout her prose. So we have each character having a short chapter and often another person there will pick up the end of that chapter. I love the way this made me a tad confused when I started trying to work out who everyone was. Once I sorted that out though it was easy to keep up.
It's a twisty rollockaster of a book and honestly expected the odd twist but this book is full of them and j loved it.
I would recommend the unwelcome guest I would so recommend that you make it toast the first 25% as if gets much better.
Rate 3/5 thanks to netgalley the author Amanda Ribskn and Avon harper Collins publishers for the advanced digital copy in exchange for my fair and honest opinions.
