Unfortunately ran out of time to finish book, would be happy to give a full review if given an extension
The book was archived before our group could download it. We are sure that we would have enjoyed the book judging from the reviews it has received.
This was my first book by A.A. Dhand and I really enjoyed it. This fast paced, action packed thriller takes it's reader on a journey from England to India. Gripping, tense and full of cultural insight, this was a great book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
Really enjoyed this - will definitely be recommending and looking forward to the next one by this author!
This was my first exposure to this author and it wont be the last, it was such a different plot and got me intrigued from the start - deliciously dark. Well worth the read.
I was given a free copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.
In the shadows, Jack Baxi led a solitary life while running his seemingly innocent shop. His life remained undisturbed for years until a police detective arrived at his door late one night. Jack and an unfamiliar woman are subjected to torture by a stranger who wants details about a person he’s unaware of. The start of Jack and Aisha’s thrilling journey to uncover their attacker and their link takes place that night. A robust group is covertly tracing their every move to obstruct their revelation of the truth. Jack’s hazardous adventure exposes profound truths about his existence, family, and ancestry. Nothing will stop Jack and Aisha from discovering the truth, even if it requires them to travel from Bradford to New Delhi.
This author’s writing was enjoyable because it was simple and straightforward. The setting was described enough for me to visualize but not get bored with excessive detail. This thrilling story is fast-paced and perfect especially if you enjoy an action-packed mystery.
I felt apprehensive about my capacity to comprehend crucial information in a story involving Indian or Muslim culture, as I had never encountered one before. The author supplies enough details for all to comprehend the cultural and religious features of this narrative. Nonetheless, the main plot continues to be a thrilling mystery that can only be solved through a dangerous adventure.
The first thing I have to say is what a superb writer Dhand is.
I love his Harry Virdee series and enjoyed this standalone book just as much,
Today I had a day off work, just me at home is a rare occurrence. I made the most of it. I sat myself down with a cuppa and started this book. I stopped to make a couple more cuppa's as the morning went on but this book was finished by early afternoon. A day off well spent in my opinion.
From Bradford to India I really feel like i've been on a journey with these characters. An Action packed page turner, i really didn't want to put this book down.
Well written and i would recommend.
Dark and compelling!
I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.., it is not one for the faint-hearted though.
Dhand is a fabulous writer & I can't wait to see what he does next!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for approving me for this book.
I felt this was really well written but just something wasn't clicking for me so i feel as though it fell a bit short and u didn't enjoy it as much as I expected myself to.

A good book with a great storyline. I just struggled to connect with some of the characters which has lowered my rating.
The blood divide - A.A. Dhand
Sorry the book expired to quickly and I had others on my shelf to read. Didn’t get chance to read in time
I really enjoyed the Blood Divide. This book pulled me right out of a reading slump as I was hooked from the start. I liked the ending, but the story lost momentum for me a little in the middle. Would fully recommend this book for fans of adventurous thrillers that keep you guessing!
Really enjoyed this one, kept me hooked and intrigued so I wantednto carry on reading. Well worth picking up!
I just reviewed The Blood Divide by A. A. Dhand. #TheBloodDivide #NetGalley Love the author and his books, I have been reading a lot more of the UK fiction and the characters work well, the story very detailed and it keeps you hooked to the end
AA Dhand is a Bradford favourite (any crime writer who features our beautiful store in one of their novels is alright by us) and this is another gripping thrill-ride of a book. Starting in Bradford, with torture, mystery and confusion the story soon moves to Delhi - where everything ramps up a gear. If you enjoy a great crime thriller with something just a little bit extra to add then this needs to move up your 'to read' pile. You won't regret it...
Totally not what I was expecting. Hooked from the start and couldn't put it down. Good characters, well written and great mystery.
Recommend
this was a great mystery novel, it had what I was looking for in a mystery novel. The characters were great and I enjoyed going through this book.
I was hooked from the first chapter, which opens up with Jack a corner shop owner being awoken in the early hours to the police who bring along a young girl and start demanding they answer questions about a person they’ve never heard of. The drama that unravels is tightly plotted and well written with the tension racking up throughout. We’re taken from the small streets of Bradford to India and onto the border with Pakistan., while being given a potted history of the troubles between those countries. The characters in this book are well defined and the sense of place is immaculate - I’ve been to India and was immediately transported back to that vivid country. An author to watch out for in the future.
If you're looking for a read that is action packed from start to finish with tension throughout, this is the book for you. It begins from the first page and continues, unabated to the last.
Jatinder Baxi runs a shop in Bradford. With a cellar full of contraband. But why is he being tortured and interrogated about a man he's never heard of. And why is a young woman, Aisha, also linked?
The action moves to Delhi with a cat and mouse chase, and a journey to the truth.
Whilst it did capture my attention, I did ultimately find the last third less satisfying and the ending didn't have the wow factor I'd almost come to expect.
Still an enjoyable read, but perhaps not my genre of choice.
