This is a very sweet book! A good beach read if you want something that isn't too deep or dark. Bonus points if you like sports included in your romance, as I do!
I had a really tough time getting into this book. The writing was just not something that pulled me in quickly. As a result, I felt like this book really dragged. It had the notes of a sweet rom-com, but I just did not feel like I could relate with the characters.
This book had some of my favorite tropes in it - especially with someone moving to another country and falling in love with a colleague. There were some heavier topics mentioned in here, but otherwise it was lighthearted and something that I plan on reading again. It never felt rushed and I feel like the story developed well. Overall, would read again and can't wait to see what else Rebecca Banks writes!
Thanks to Amazon and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
A woman who wanted to restart life thousand miles away, ahhhh, very mind relaxing that we know woman today could already do this without hesitations.
“I had to go half the world away to find you, but I know that life with you is home.”
Abbie is ready for a fresh start in Salt Lake City, Utah. Back home in London, she’s been dealing with sleazy soccer players at work and hearing more announcements about her ex-husband’s perfect life with his new wife. She’s over it, and needs to move on. Waiting for her in Utah is a fresh start: new friends, new career, new hobby blog, and a smokin’ ex-soccer player.
This was an adorable debut novel from Rebecca Banks that I devoured in one sitting. While some of the writing was choppy, the storyline was great. I had to find out the secrets from the past and see if Abbie and Kyle would end up together. I definitely recommend this for a quick, light summer read. There are some spoiler trigger warnings for this book, but I’ll say it surrounds pregnancy and you can look it up if needed.
Thank you Netgalley & Publisher for the ARC.
Divorced and keeping a heart-breaking secret, Abbie Potter is sleep-walking through her life as a publicist at a London football club. She seems to spend more time covering their scandals than celebrating their wins, and has had enough.
The first morning of her new life, Abbie bumps into Kyle Miller. He’s persistent, and Abbie’s more than intrigued by him. Everything else seems to fit into place too.
This was a feel-good romcom about finding yourself amidst all the chaos and starting your life all over again.
It was sweet, fun and entertaining.
Another cute story! Huge fan of this book and loved the characters. Very enjoyable! Definitely recommend picking up!
HALF THE WORLD AWAY is about finding yourself and leaving behind feelings and circumstances that are weighing you down. Something I need constant reminder of. It’s all about female friendships and how you are able to keep each other in check by being honest, laughing together, being angry and even crying tears together. If you are looking for a fun girl power read this one fits the bill! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
I enjoyed this story, but the writing left me wanting. I definitely think it has great bones, just needs a bit of fluff.
I tried really hard to love this book, but I found the writing a little clumsy. Overall the story was cute.
Such a good read, I loved this one the perfect rom com! I totally recommend to anyone who loves romance.
This story's setting appealed to me greatly. Banks does an excellent job of capturing the American atmosphere of Salt Lake City, particularly when Abbie visits the neighboring surroundings. Banks adds to the American feeling with so many references to food, in addition to the environment. The characters appear to eat much of the time, so be warned if reading makes you hungry.
Abbie's move to the United States is indeed a fresh start for her. I admired her courage in leaving familiarity behind and beginning a new life in a country where she knew no one. I think it was crucial to show Abbie's character as capable of striking out on her own, and I especially enjoyed the parts where she took it upon herself to investigate her new circumstances. It was pleasant to witness a female character who was not so reliant on men.
This is the story of Abbie, a young divorcee living in London, after a hard day at work, she received a job offer from Utah. She accepted and moved to Salk Lake City. Half the World Away is a tale of new beginnings, new friendships and new life.
First, I really liked the character of Abbie and I loved to see her evolve throughout the book. I also enjoyed her link with the other characters and her friendships felt real.
Secondly, the plot was great and the love story of Abbie was so beautiful and wholesome. As well as that, I truly liked Kyle even though he acts strangely sometimes.
Thirdly, the other little plots of the book were perfect and really well concluded.
Overall, it was a great book but I wish it had been developed a little bit more.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Enjoyable, predictable, nothing special. I felt like it was a mediocre Romance story with nothing to offer, very typical.
I enjoyed this book even though parts of it were predictable. The main male character seemed a bit too perfect. It was nice seeing a divorcee from England remake her life in America.
After an unexpected divorce and quitting a job that infuriates her, Abbie decides to take the plunge and apply for a job half a world away in Utah. To her surprise she is not only offered the job but also decides to accept it. Once there she impresses more than just her boss and manages to make some new friends. Just when she thought life was perfect, a few incidences of sabotage threaten to ruin everything she has worked hard for and she realises to move forward, she has to fully deal with her past. I found this to be a very enjoyable read with some very likable characters and a couple who are indeed not so likable. Look forward to reading more by Rebecca Banks.
This was an amazing book. I liked the setting of the book and all the characters, I felt as if I am a part of their world because I can totally relate with them.
Abbie is my heroine! I love the story of Abby leaving her job in England behind to move half the world away for a new job opportunity in Utah. Her and Kyle's initial meeting had me laughing out loud and I loved how he always called her England- so cute! The characters were wonderful and I LOVED Abbie's birthday scene. While I enjoy reading about flirty romances, I especially love close friendships like Abbie and her girlfriends. This book covered everything- love, friendship, work, and travel (can I take a trip to Arches National Park soon?!).
This was a fun debut from Rebecca Banks and I can't wait to laugh at and swoon over whatever she writes in the future!
I really enjoyed this book and the author's writing style. I liked Abbie and loved Kyle. I will definitely be reading more from Rebecca Banks.
Half The World Away is about Abbie Potter, who decides to start a "new life" after a divorce. This book was a lot of fun! New job, friends, relationship, people, food, and so much more. It really opens your eyes to how important it is to live life to it's fullest and not to be afraid. The romance is somewhat of a slow burn, but really shines in the second half of the book. I loved the writing and I was sucked in until the end in one sitting. Definitely check this book out when it releases!
