The artwork is pretty simple, but the pages also seem distracting like it is hard to get my eyes to follow the panels instead of going all over the place. Again, think this is an artwork thing and so many huge textboxes.
The story itself is interesting, but the pacing made it more on the boring side.
A School Frozen in Time by Mizuki Tsujimura is a manga about a group of students that get trapped in school during a snow storm. This happens after two months a school suicide case, where none of the students remember the name of the classmate. Because they cant remember, they begin to think that the student could be among them or is one of them. From what I can tell, the eight students do not seem to be in the same friendship group but enough that they took photo with their teacher. I really like how they jump to conclusions and strange things begin to happen. Also, I enjoyed the eerie artwork of the empty school. I am curious to find out if the dead student is really one of them. I definitely will continue the series to see what happens.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to review this manga e-arc.
This manga had a very interesting premise. A group of students trapped in school one day during a snow storm, completely cut from contact with the outside world, and the reason is that they all forgot their college who committed suicide.
I really wanted to like this, but this just felt a bit too short and underdeveloped.
On a heavily snowy day, two months after a school suicide case, eight students find themselves trapped in an eerily empty school, without any possible ways to escape. When they realise that none of them remember the name of the classmate who committed suicide, these students cannot help but wonder if perhaps the dead person is actually among them.
Although I would say that the pace of the story is quite slow, I was still hooked from the start! There were barely introductions to any of the characters, but Mizuki specifically caught my attention. Mainly because she was the first to appear and she is terribly clumsy. The eight students did not seem like they are part of the same friendship clique, probably only classmates, but close enough to be taking pictures together with their homeroom teacher, just the eight of them.
The artwork is not really what I would personally enjoy at other times, but the artist captured the eeriness of the empty school along with some bloody scenes which did gave me some shivers. I liked how the plot is unfolding, and I'm definitely curious as to whether the dead person is really among the eight of them or not. And if yes, why would that person do this?
Interesting premise; art and deliver did not captivate me in one volume. I am not sure that this is something I'd purchase for my collection, but I would read 1-2 more volumes before deciding whether to drop or keep.
I had issues downloading and attempting to access the format provided to read the ARC. Did not resolve or find work around before title was archived. Would have liked to give book a chance.
This took some time to get hooked to , not because.of the art work but the scenes felt bit abrupt. But i was intrigued a lot to keep reading. Overall i liked it.
I liked this book as it kept me hooked and I was interested to find out more the whole time. Definitely wanna read more by this author.
2.5 stars.
From the title and the book cover, I wasn’t expecting this to be a thriller or is suspense a more accurate term?
The manga starts with showing us the characters interacting with each other (in a very cringey fashion to say the least but considering when it was released, it was the typical way most mangas did). Once they enter the school, they soon find out that they can’t leave or contact the outside world and search all over for a way to do so. Creepy things start to happen as they try to find out what’s going on.
Things were getting interesting in the end and the chapter with Mitsuru was very touching but I can’t help but dislike the pacing and how jumpy the characters are to conclusions as well as scenes happening without much buildup. The dry humor in between killed what little suspense was evoked from me. I'm not a big fan of the art style but since it is from 2008, it is understandable. Overall, I am intrigue enough to continue to find out how things end.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy for an honest review.
*received for free from netgalley for honest review* i think it got me hooked.... was slow to take off though i knew where it was going when it started to, really want to read more volumes tho for sure!

A friendly warning to readers who decide to read this series. This series contains materials about suicide. If you have friends who have such thoughts, be sure to be there for them, and there are helplines for this issue.
Back to the topic, you are going back to school while worrying about your entry college exams in your mind. But it is nice to see your classmates again after a school holiday. Strange. Why is it so quiet here? Did the school decide to extend the holiday? Wait… why can’t we leave?
The story has a similar concept to Danganronpa, Among Us, The Empty Box, and Zeroth Maria. A group of students trapped in the school has to solve the mystery and identity of the suicide victim who everyone had forgotten.
Why You Should Read Tsumetai Kousha no Toki wa Tomaru (A School Frozen in Time
1. Do You Remember Me?
Tanako pointed out that after the horrifying event that happened at their school a few months ago, people will eventually forget it and move forward and such is society. But such thoughts bring about a supernatural occurrence they just entered.
The objective of identifying the suicide victim may be straightforward. Still, there is not much hint presence in school when everyone’s memories have tampered with, and such information happens to appear whenever the clock starts running at the cost of someone’s life. There is a lot of mystery behind everything that has happened in this volume. That is what makes it interesting because it is difficult to investigate with a decent amount of suspense they offered.
2. High Expectations
The manga isn’t about the suicide victim. It is about every character introduced in this series. You would think everyone has a good life, but behind their façade lies despair and sadness as they have problems and issues of their own and how they try to solve them at the best of their ability with the help of others. The main factor that causes such mentality to everyone is how competitive their environment is: if you don’t do well, you will be left behind and rot. Such a concept leads individuals to compare their incompetence to the success of others, but one must understand that everyone is unique in their way. It also shows how important it is to ask a friend or even a stranger depending on the situation, and hear your problems to talk it out rather than contain the negative feelings within yourself.
Final Thoughts
Tsumetai Kousha no Toki wa Tomaru (A School Frozen in Time) is a suspenseful horror experience for dealing with an unknown entity that could bend reality. Among eight students, one of them is the suicide victim. Aside from finding the true culprit, it also shows the students' unique issues before all of this happens and how much burden they have to meet others’ expectations in such a competitive environment. If someone is asking for your help that requires listening to their problems, hearing and being there for them either in person, phone calls or video calls can make a huge difference to improve their mental health. If you are into Danganronpa, Among Us and The Empty Box and Zeroth Maria concepts, you might want to give this one a try. Who do you think among the eight students is the suicide victim and why?

This book was provided to me by netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I'm not sure why, but I really just didn't get on with this one. I felt it fell a bit flat for me. I found the art to be fine, but nothing visually grabbing. The characters felt like something I'd read before but they didn't grab in the ways other have. I dont think I'll continue on in the series.
I have to say... WOW. First, I didn’t expect to recieve and arc for this manga from SUCH authors. But I expected even LESS what I would find after knowing of YLIA that was (heartbreakingly) the cutest😭. Well, do not expect that an author to be writing always the same, even less the same gender😅. I found myself reading it at 5 am and being scared AS HELL. Never in my life did I experience that by reading something, or watching an horror anime. I surely didn’t think that a manga like this would have me under my sheets scared like a baby lol
I definitely want to know more but Im also reading it next on the afternoon 😂
A beautiful yet eerie manga that explores the psychology of modern Japanese teens. Crossing the snowy fields to school one morning, friends Hiroshi and Mizuki talk about the pressure of upcoming exams, while skirting around their personal worries. Discovering only five additional students in the school building, the teens soon realize that they can neither leave the building nor can they contact the outside world. Even more disturbing, all the clocks have stopped at the exact time their former classmate fell from the school roof three months earlier. When a cell phone rings, they answer, only to hear those final moments of one person's life and a voice asking, "Do you remember?" While the plot device of teens trapped in a threatening situation and forced to face their past is certainly not a new one, this series has the potential to do something unique. The classically appealing shojo-style art adds depth to the unnerving setting and enhances the emotional exchanges as the characters explore their relationships. Recommended for ages 12 and up.
I didn’t think I’d be this invested in the end, though the premise was interesting. It’s pretty much exactly my kind of story: friendship, mental health, suspense. However, it did seem a bit more superficial and confusing than I guess it should have been. Looking forward to seeing how it develops!
'A School Frozen in Time' is the first volume in a manga series following a group of students who have been trapped in their school, right at the moment when a classmate of theirs committed suicide three months earlier. What follows is a psychological horror as the students try to remember who it was that lost their life that day, and the twists and turns that follow.
I really enjoyed this manga for a number of reasons. While it isn't outright horror, there's definitely an eerie, unsettled feeling that you can pick up on throughout the book. It also examines how friendships in their many forms change with our actions, which I liked.
Personally, I feel that the art style could have been a bit cleaner, but it definitely conveys what it needs to. I'd recommend this to anyone who would like a psychological thriller in manga form, or is looking for something out of their comfort zone.
8 students go to school only to find themselves trapped with time stopped at the exact moment one of them jumped from the roof. A School Frozen in Time is perfect for fans of suspense, mystery and emotionally driven works.

This was a great first volume. I was not expecting the twist. I thought this was more relieve the day until we can stop it from happening. Nope it switched to Another REAL QUICK! Will be picking up volume 2 as soon as it drops!
A very fun read with some really interesting characters. Love the artwork and the character development with the main leads in this one.
Deliciously eerie and poignant, Mizuki Tsujimira delivers an incredibly mystery. What I love about this book is the friendships it explores. Friendship is something that is rarely highlighted in teen fiction, hence why it was refreshing to read about. My only complaint is that the art style was rather sloppy. Overall, if you're a fan of phycological thrillers, or love twists and turns, then this is definitely the series for you!
