Very gripping thriller which intertwines the past and the present, as well as various characters with each other. The mystery was very interesting to discover, although a shame one of them didn't seem to be revealed after all.

This book is very repetitive. Phrases are used over and over within the space of a few pages, Instead of adding to the story it just became annoying.
The title character does not come into the novel until part 2, the first part centres around Essie, who is bland as a character. Emily is better written.
There are multiple time jumps, memories mostly, but seem to be random.
Characters seem to gain information out of nowhere, possibly remembering events from the past but the reader is given no indication of this.
Mostly I just found it slow and boring.
Would highly recommend this novel . Well structured and with strong characterisation reminiscent of Kate Atkinson. Powerful and challenging subject matter with uplifting and life affirming outcome. The jacket design is striking, apt and links well to the other novels in this linked series.
Good twists and very sad, the story carrie's along at a steady pace with some turns you wont expect.
