This book had me a bit confused. There seems to be way too much plot dropped into to few pages. The rules of the world seemed very strange. For example, the magical school has a rule that students who fail have their magical memories wiped. In the past no one has ever failed, and magic users don't seems to be a secret from the general population so I don't know why they'd need such a rule in the first place. The book does deal with some interesting topics (ex. war and racism) but I think these subjects would have worked better if introduced a bit more slowly over multiple volumes.

This one honestly just wasn't my cup of tea. The plot was interesting, the ecchi was fine, but for me the characters were pretty mediocre and that is what usually draws me in the most. I still absolutely recommend this read as I can see a lot of people loving it!

I enjoyed this one enough. Once getting the hang of reading from right to left I enjoyed it more. I would have liked it better in color but can get past that.

The story line was a little choppy but I would definitely read Vol. 2

Behind all the fan service and crotch shots, there lies what seems to be a good story. Thank you Net Galley for accepting my request to review this ARC.

Yeah, this one is definitely not my taste.

I was really excited when I heard about this series. What I wasn't expecting was the amount of fanservice this series has. I can't do it, even though I can handle quite a bit of fan service. Having a tiny girl not wearing pants or shorts or anything sitting spread eagled showing off her panties constantly was just too much for me.

Ugh, I am such a sucker for magic manga, especially when they have such fun and loveable characters.

I really fell in love with this world and the relationships, and that's where this manga shines. The art, the dialogue.. its all just so fun and good.

If you like Little Witch Academia, this is perfect for you!

This is a series that has potential, especially with it's worldbuilding and magic. However, it was let down by execution, as the characters especially the main character felt rather flat and I was not really engaged in their story, and while the art style was nice, it did lean a little too much into fanservice for my liking.

This story had a lot of interesting magic and world building and I really liked how calm and resilient our main characters are.

This story was full of explosive magic and action scenes that kept my attention and kept me reading. The characters each had such dark but interesting backgrounds. We got to learn a lot about each of them in this first volume which I really enjoyed!

My biggest complaint is that some of the art was way too revealing with the female characters. There were a lot of panels showing up their skirts or them in suggestive positions, which ultimately made me really uncomfortable because it wasn’t needed in those scenes.

Other than that, I did enjoy this manga and might continue on with future volumes!

3/5 ⭐️

I had really high hopes for this book, I should know better, years of consuming manga should have prepared me for such a level of disappointment
But it hadn't.

Let us start with the lack of overall interesting characters. Early on, I hoped that while the MC was super bland that the supporting party would help bring me around. It didn't.
Something that could be interesting and happen over a span of time literally happened in less than a chapter; their choice had no real gravity and really didn't have any consequences.
The only person I at any point found myself intrigued by was the lizardman, Kudo.

In the end, this manga is your stereotypical Ecchi, where everyone this guy is bad at everything, but then we learn that he's actually super powerful.

It was a very good first volume that set up for a bigger story. Although it's nothing super original it was interesting enough that I would pick up the next volume.

This is a sweet, fun, and quick read. The manga is pretty fast-paced for a first volume 1, The magic and magic items seem interesting and really thought about however for now the story seems a bit mainstream for a high fantasy manga

It might too early in the series to say if it is going to be promising or not but to it feels like another high fantasy manga with fan service boobies but magic system so far shows some promise.

Saybil is a student at the academy of magic. He has no memory of who was before he joined the academy a few years ago. Saybil is actually the worst student the academy has ever had and, at this rate, he will be expelled and all of his memories of magic will be erased. And because he has very little memory to begin with having even more of it erased is kind of a tragedy. But then the headmaster sends Saybil and a few other students with a very strange professor on a special course mission and shenanigans ensue.
I was so excited when I found out that this is a spin off for another series, called Grimoire of Zero. I really loved the anime for that one and I also read the first book for that series, it was the only one I could find. But this series is nowhere near as good. My main issue was the portrayal of female characters. One of the girls, Hort, was always drawn kind of from below, making her already generous bosom just huge. Every time she was on the page her boobs took more space and attention than her face. And then there is Loux, the teacher. She is supposed to be way older than she looks, but she still looks like a little girl. So it was extremely uncomfortable because every time she was on the page her panties were shown. Like, why, just why? I don't remember Grimoire of Zero sexualizing women to that extent.
The story so far was just okay. They set out on a trip for this special course and get attacked on the way. That's basically it. The characters were mediocre, the main character especially, he barely did anything and he definitely had no personality to speak of.
It was nice to see Albus and I hope we will see Zero and Mercenary, but if you don't have a sentimental attachment to those characters, then maybe skip this series.
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
