Thank you so much to Netgalley and Kodansha comics for the opportunity to read and review this manga. This was definitely an adorable manga. I love all of the characters that were presented and the antics that they get into. I can also imagine this being an anime also. My only issue is that there was only some parts that didn't really feel like a cohesive plot. It only felt like a cohesive plot towards the end of the story. Overall though, I would love to see how this story continues on. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars
I love when tropes are flipped on their head in romance comedies. It brings so much life into what is usually a stale plot. She’s My Knight is the story of Haruma Ichinose, a boy who is naturally popular and adored. Unfortunately, he falls for the one girl who doesn’t see him as anything more than a friend - Yuki Mogami..
While Ichinose comes to terms with a lot of complex feelings, including the fact Mogami happens to be several inches taller than him, there is a lot of physical comedy that is enjoyable to read. But don’t go in expecting more than a light, fluffy good time, because this is a romantic comedy that doesn’t take itself too seriously and even pokes fun at itself.
The art is adorable and funny and knows when to pull out dramatic shots for those impactful moments. Some scenes were a bit repetitive and seemed a bit copy paste, but these were usually played for humor and admittedly the jokes they carried were quite funny. I’ll definitely pick up the next in the series when I’m craving a light romantic comedy.
*Thank you Kodansha Comics and NetGalley for the ARC*
The plot was really cute and sweet. The art style was also good. It has a potential so I hope it will get better in next volumes.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Kodansha Comics for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book made my day, it was cutely funny and so entertaining. I enjoyed it very much.
The story is a simple shojo but the author made it so interesting and so amusing at the same time. It is about Haruma Ichinose the most popular boy at his school and he is pride of his status until the tall, cool girl Yuki Mogami comes into his life and makes him crazy in love. How is he going to deal with his feelings and his rivalry with Mogami ?
I hope that the next volume will be released soon because I just want to know what Ichinose is going to do and I also liked his friend Miyoshi who is also funny mainly when he makes fun of him.
She's My Knight is a comedy manga with a romantic plot point; so far it feels more like a gag manga than a typical love story, and it works. The main characters feel quite realistic with how he is insecure about being outshined as the "hot guy" and is not self-aware enough to admit he likes her while she is just effortlessly cool, but still has her own blind spots. If you like your romances to be lighthearted with no shadows of impending trauma, She's My Knight might be for you. Hopefully the remaining volumes will be able to keep up the comedic timing.
This started off a little slow but quickly grew on me. She's My Knight is your typical slice-of-life series that follows a not-so-typical lead who battles obstacles like dealing a childhood friend/love rival, getting trapped in a closet with his love interest, and being on the wrong side of a perfect-for-kissing height difference. In his desperation to prove he's the swoon-worthy hero of his story, Ichinose sets out to make Mogami fall for him. Instead, he finds himself in constant need of her rescue; the constant mishaps have him wondering just what role he's playing in the shojo story that's become his life and questioning whether his desire to "charm" Mogami is really just about proving a point.
What I love about She's My Knight is that it plays with common shojo tropes and doesn't take itself too seriously. Saisou takes a stereotypical romance and flips it on its head, so it's both familiar and unexpected. It's amazingly self-aware as it plays with familiar tropes, and the tongue-in-cheek humor is spot on. In some ways, I think this is harder to pull off than a good shojo because you need to execute all the traditional elements well and successfully switch things up, but Saisou does it so well. She's My Knight has everything you want in a good shojo with a playful twist. If you're a fan of the genre and looking for a refreshing but familiar read or if you're new to shojo and want a funny love story, She's My Knight is for you.
The art is great, but I love the characters in She's My Knight. In a bit of a role reversal, Mogami is the calm, cool and collected, charming princess and Ichinose is the clumsy, cute but clueless protagonist. I have a soft spot for awkward fictional males (something that hasn't translated well in real life so far,) and Ichinose is such a great clueless cinnamon roll. He's also hilariously relatable--haven't we all completely embarrassed ourselves in front of our crushes before? (Please don't comment if I'm alone in this.) I think the story would've been even better if we'd gotten a bit more context for what he was like before Mogami came to school, though. I would've loved to see his transformation from a suave, cool playboy to flailing, awkward mess instead of jumping right into the romance, but c'est la vie.
I think this would work better if it were more of an ongoing story instead of just a series of vignettes. There's a bit more of a plot in the later chapters, so maybe that'll continue as the series goes on. I'll be sticking around for book 2 because this was so much fun. It not only satisfied my craving for a cute, light read and was way more entertaining than I expected. If I end up going back down a manga rabbit hole, I'm totally blaming Kodansha Comics.
The artwork is really nice. Very typical of a shoujo manga where not a lot of solid black space is used. The story itself is cute. I prefer the chapters to be in a more continuous storyline whereas these seem to be comedic snapshots with the same characters. I'd like the side characters to be explored a little more in future books. The length of the volume is good and gave me a chance to get to know the main character a little but it didn't really dig down into his motivations yet.
The story definitely has potential and, with more focus on the characters rather than just the comedy, I think it will do well.
I received this book from Netgalley/publisher in exchange of an honest review.
Wow this was so good. Ichinose has always been popular that is until Yuki steals the role . Ichinose must win back his title as the most popular person in school however there in one glitch he has been struck by her charisma and has fallen in love with Yuki. Does Yuki feel the same? I guess we will have to wait for the next volume to find out.
I loved the role reversal and the self awareness of this manga. The tables have turned and we have a new hero in town.
Review to come March 31st to blog/goodreads/etc..

This was a hilarious and funny manga! I already was hoping for that based on the blurb and on the cover, but it was even funnier than I had thought!
Meet Ichinose, a popular boy, very shiny and dashing... but one problem.. the girl he likes is even more dashing them him, and OMG 12 centimetres taller (though according to a friend that is just perfect for kissing, which made me laugh so hard). The manga is him trying to do dashingly princely things to impress her, but it always ends in her dashingly rescuing him. Which had me in stitches, though I have to be honest at times I wished that he had a moment of spotlight!
He is also a big big tsundere and has a hard time saying his feelings, instead opting for grumbling and blushing and quickly turning x into y when someone questions it. It is quite adorable and really, while at times I could see him as a dashing prince... mostly I saw him as a cute princess vying for the hand of the dashing prince. I am not alone in thinking this, haha, oh no. His friends and classmates, and even later a teacher, all think that Ichinose is more suited as the heroine. And Mogami? The hero. I do like that, despite how often it ends up totally different than his fantasies, he keeps going.
I am glad that we also saw flashes of something else in Mogami. Don't get me wrong, I love the princely girl types, but sometimes it just gets too much for me. And that is the problem I had with Mogami. Then again, she doesn't always seem to know she does it. And there are apparently items (like a prince costume) that make her go all out... but when the item is removed she doesn't remember a thing. Yep. So I was happy to see her act cute, see her ask Ichinose for help. See her be afraid of something. It shows that there is a whole different Mogami, and one I like much more than over the top glittery Mogami. Also, she is so clueless. I mean, I am clueless, but this girl definitely wins top prize with how clueless she is about things. At times I just felt sorry for Ichinose.
I love that these two are slowly getting closer. I mean Ichinose is in love from the start... but, and I don't see this as a spoiler because hello this is a romance manga, we see Mogami is slowly figuring out that she has feelings as well.
The ending was cute and good, but also made me go NOOOOOO, because I just want to continue reading now! I need to know more! ARGH!
The art is really well done and I just love how the characters were drawn. Ichinose's blushes are just the best~
All in all, if you like princely girls and dashing guys and lots of misunderstandings, height problems and humour, be sure to try this one out.
More please! I am a sucker for femme princes and am super digging the hard tsun vibes our main is giving off. Not much in the way of plot yet but the comedy and strong character reactions make up for it. If the miscommunication goes on for too long it might get tiring but for now I'm just happy to be along for the ride.
This manga to me was the typical shojo manga however with gender roles reversed. The romance involved was typical and very cute however by the end of the manga, I was rather bored. The main boy was going against his feelings for the girl and then she would do something and he'd fall for her again. This bored me, I finished the manga purely to know if anything different would happen. The illustration was a typical manga style and fitted the manga well. I dont think I would bother would a second book.
He was the hottest thing in school until she showed up. Somehow more handsome and manly than Haruma Ichinose, Yuki Mogami is the perfect prince. At first Haruma's upset at having his life of perfect handsomeness derailed by a girl, but before too long, he's madly crushing on her while fervently denying that any such thing is going on. This may not sound like a particularly innovative set up for a romantic comedy - especially if you've read Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun, but by god, does Saisou make it work. The contortions that Haruma puts himself through in his attempts to woo Yuki (without looking like that's what he's doing) are astounding, from his insistence that he doesn't want the muffins she made in home ec to the whole unfortunate love letter episode, and Yuki herself puts on a good show of being oblivious. And in fact she might BE oblivious, because one very self-aware chapter makes it clear that her life has been blessed (or cursed) by the shoujo manga gods, and that's rubbing off on Haruma a bit, too. From lampooning the hot-childhood-friend-becomes-your-teacher trope to having the class put on "Cinderella," She's My Knight plays all the hits with a deft enough touch that it doesn't feel like lame comedy or a retread. I laughed a lot reading this volume. I hope you do, too.
Ichinose has always been very popular, but when Mogami shows up at his school one day, he's afraid that she will take his spotlight. He begins to develop feelings for her and doesn't know how to deal with those feelings, so he instead treats her as his enemy even as they grow closer to one another.
This is the first manga I have ever read, and I really enjoyed it! I'll definitely be buying more and starting a collection now. I loved the art and watching Ichinose and Mogami figure out their feelings for each other, although I would have loved to see a little more depth to the characters. The back and forth banter was entertaining, and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next volume!
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for the ARC of She's My Knight by Saisou!
This was so incredibly cute! I love the characters and the style of comedy on this particular title! I cannot wait to keep going on this one!

I did not expect this to be so funny!! She’s My Knight follows the story of a boy named Haruma who can’t handle his crush on Yuki, a girl who is effortlessly more popular than himself. This manga is so full of self-awareness and gender-role reversals that it’s absolutely hilarious! I love how much of a nervous mess Haruma was and how charming and considerate Yuki is! If you’re in the mood to read a funny story about two protagonists who adorably dance around their feelings for one another, then I can’t recommend this manga enough!
Thank you Netgalley for letting me read this book in return for an honest review.
She's My Knight is basically a taller girl and a smaller boy and I like this a lot because we need more taller girls and smaller guy relationships. Haruma Ichinose is used to being popular so when he meets Yuki Mogami who is just as, if not more, dashing than he is and it drives him crazy. The art is nice and the story is lighthearted so I cannot wait to read more volumes.
Rating: 3.5⭐
Would I Read It Again? Yes
Would I Recommend it? Yes
She’s My Knight is a cute, school-set manga that’s sort of sweet and definitely funny. It’s somewhat episodic, and the situations that Ichinose and Mogami find themselves in are familiar and romantic, so it’s a fun, easy read. Ichinose is wildly dramatic, Mogami a bit oblivious, and the story plays off their interactions and developing relationship, capitalizing on gender-twist and shoujo elements. The art is expressive, though the character designs are rather typical, in a comfortable way. The story is lighthearted, but there are touching moments scattered throughout. She’s My Knight is a cute read for shoujo fans, and would undoubtedly be a fabulous anime.
This was a very entertaining read from start to finish, and while it would have been nice to follow one arching storyline, I found that I enjoyed the episodic nature of the story. The art style is cute, and worked perfectly with a cast of engaging characters to play with some of the classic shojo tropes and give them a twist, and this entire manga made me smile and I will certainly be checking out future volumes.
I found this manga really entertaining and the dynamic between Ichinose and Mogami really adorable! This is a shoujo manga following Ichinose, a popular 17 year old boy, encountering his first rival. Mogami is a slightly taller, equally popular 17 year old girl. His rival very quickly becomes his crush, although it takes him a little while to realize even with the help of friend, Miyoshi, and substitute teacher, Nikaido.
I would recommend this to fans of Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun. Mogami reminds me of Kashima while Ichinose's personality feels a bit closer to Mikoshiba. Both series also poke fun at the shoujo tropes the characters play into.
I really want to see how these characters and their relationship develop in future volumes!
* Thank you Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for providing an e-ARC! *
The art is cute and the characters engaging. I would have preferred a more fluid overall story arc instead of the vignette style, but I would still definitely continue reading this series if I had the opportunity. Thank you to Kodansha Comics and Netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
