A lovely read and very current and relatable. I really enjoyed this title and felt it very modern. The story was well written and some predictability. Life isn't always perfect or a fairytale, and this story shows that.

Life is messy!

A different kind of rom-com.

Laura's not much going for her. Her job at the Bugle magazine is on the line, she's sleeping on an air mattress and the guy she once dated is now loved up with their ex flat mate. So when an assignment to test Cupid a new dating service comes along she grabs it, as it might just save her job and get her a boyfriend.

Part of the book is a look back at Laura's childhood and also her relationship with Walker who is now with her ex flat mate. These parts of the book felt like a bit of a pity part at times and I wasn't sure what they were adding to the current story.

Everything seems great when she meets Adam who is the hook up from the dating service. Everyone likes him even her snooty sister. He seems to know what she wants and is willing to put himself out for her. It's still not enough for Laura as she then decides maybe another guy is the one she really wants.

I did like the comedic writing and Laura's friend Lil is a great character along with her little girl Dora. I just didn't really warm to Laura especially when she starts to mess things up. It certainly doesn't follow the usual rom-com path and kept me interested to the end.

I loved the premise of this one, and it did deliver overall! Very tender and wholesome vibes! I’d read more from this author.

The premise of the book seemed really interesting however the writing style was messy and I am not a fan of the cheating trope.

An algorithm for love is a profoundly modern idea and it forms the basis of this romance. The central character of Laura was quite engaging, but the book as a whole left me rather cold. It was too long and the pace uneven. The characters aside from Laura were unconvincing and a bit two-dimensional.

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

I so wanted to love this book as the proposition had everything I was looking for in a smart, upmarket romcom, but unfortunately I just couldn't connect with it and didn't end up finishing it. I think this is probably a fab book, and it might just be a case of 'It's not you it's me' in that I wasn't in the right headspace to enjoy it. I will definitely keep an eye on this author and look into her future books though.

This was an interesting read different than the cover suggested but an interesting read none the less. There are some thought provoking issues involved within the book and it worked for me.

I didn't enjoy this one, which I was sad about, because the premise is so fun! I really do want to give credit for that because it's clear that the author thought about this and I enjoyed it. It's a new angle and it made me smile. However, the characters weren't for me -- I found Laura aggravating -- and I didn't care for the romance at all. It didn't create the spark for me, which is what I need to give invested a romance! The writing style also didn't quite grab me. I found Laura's relationship with her family as odd, because that SHOULD have grabbed me. It's my ideal type of thing, but I mostly found myself annoyed and frustrated by them. There was just something not as organic as I would have liked about the whole thing.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to have got an ARC, but I have tried this so many times. When I eventually powered through it, it felt like a relief to be done. I couldn't see myself recommending this unless someone wanted a quick read they can get through in a couple hours.

I loved this chirpy romance. The dating app that matches people on how they use the Internet...maybe this is the way to go! This book is well written Nd an easy but pleasurable read. The storyline gives you some ideas to prevent you from making the same mistakes when looking for love. Great read! A brilliant quick read that i absolutely devoured. There were some genuine laugh out loud moments and I really loved the characters and the different settings they were put in. Very relatable and would definitely recommend for some light hearted fun!

Although this book was easy to read it failed to completely captivate me. I really liked Laura but the other characters were very forgettable. Maybe a little bit more romance would have held my interest but there were some good moments hence 4 stars

Really enjoyable and entertaining read, it’s witty, full of so much humour and full of charm. This lighthearted read is packed with likeable characters ,a great story and i really loved that ending. Perfect joyful escapism

This was a cute story. I was rooting for the ‘compatibility’ of the main characters but it was clear that this wouldn’t be an easy road. I liked that this one didn’t go how I expected it to and I think it would make a great premise for a tv series / film.

I internally cringed during a few parts, but that was definitely due to the circumstances the characters found themselves in and not because of the story at all. It was lovely easy read.

But along comes Cupid - a high tech dating service which promises to use algorithms that will find you the the perfect partner.

This book genuinely made me laugh out loud, following Laura's adventures in the modern dating world.

I’ve had this book in my shelf for a while and have only recently got round to reading it.

The synopsis sounded fun and the cover really grabbed my attention.

I loved the authors writing style. It was engaging, well paced and easy to follow. Characters were described well and were relatable.

The storyline was good. I loved the little twist in how she found love! Lots of feel good elements.

I have given No Such Thing As Perfect by Emma Hughes three out of five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Going into this book, I thought the plot was really interesting as I don’t think I’ve ever come across a book similar to this before. The characters were quite one-sided besides our main character, Laura, who was fully-developed. I think some of the other characters, such as her friends and family, should have been shared out throughout the book better in order to feel more depth from them. Laura was not my favourite character, some of her actions were questionable and I couldn’t believe she didn’t come clean about something in particular towards the end of the book but another person came clean about something that they had been doing.

I thought that the ending fell flat and was a bit of a disappointment, along with the fact that this book was a little too long, I think it could’ve been shortened. I felt like there were a few anticlimactic moments during this book where excitement felt like it was coming and yet it …never came. However, there were some humorous moments in this book which gave me a chuckle and I enjoyed the writing style Of Emma Hughes.

Really enjoyed this book, a unique idea which was well executed. Love how both men turned out to be wrong before she found love with the vet. All supporting characters were great and well developed.
Will look forward to future books by this talented writer.
