The writing flows well, however I found it difficult to keep track of the various characters and their partners and children. Many of the characters have secrets, and these develop as preparation for the Street Party are underway. Suspense builds, and about half way through the novel the Street Party happens, as does a life changing event.

A slow burn novel, with plenty of characters - as in real life.

This book is written in my favorite style! Multiple point of views! We follow along 3 neighbors all dealing with there own separate issues. Their lives intersect as they plan a street party to bring the neighborhood together. The 3 women all have kids the same age who also have there own teen drama unfolding.

The night of the party, the parents are caught up in there own issues and an accusation gets hurled out the next morning by on of the teens. This book touches on social class and standing, trust in your children, and also highlights that we don't always know what is going on in other families, even when they are right next door.

I really enjoyed this read and recommend this book!

I really wanted to enjoy this book and felt like it had a lot of great components. The author tried to incorporate a lot of relevant issues which was nice. However at times I found myself forgetting about a secondary character and their child and having to go back and reread. I did read this book until the end but I had a hard time with the ending as I felt like some things still were not firmed up or closed. Overall though I felt as though the story was engaging and the storyline was good. I would give this book 3/5 stars. Thank you netgalley and publisher for the advanced copy!

The Street Party was an enjoyable read filled with well-written and largely unlikeable characters. As the story develops, a street party is planned that becomes the backdrop for multiple accusations and revelations among the neighbors. There is suspense, a bit of humor and much commentary on life and society in the 21st century.

The plot was relevant, convincing and intense at times, though I didn’t care enough about any of the characters to be overly concerned about them.

This is still a good read, and I definitely recommend trying this one for yourself.

This was a fairly good read, but I think it suffered from just way too much going on. There were a ton of characters, which wasn't a deal breaker, but everyone had some major drama and hidden secrets and some were resolved quicker than others. Towards the end most of the plot was wrapped up but there were still so many story lines to close out.

Based in a very mixed area of Notting Hill The Street Party follows three separate families with completely different backgrounds. I enjoyed it to an extent, wanting to know who was lying about what and why. However I did find the pacing a bit off and not a great deal particularly happened.

Sometimes it felt like the author had a check list of current buzz topics they wanted to force into the story even if it didn’t actually add anything to it. This became especially apparent towards the end, the last 10% of the book feeling like being preached at about current social issues rather than the story reaching a natural conclusion.

I really wanted to like this novel but I had to stop reading about 65% of the way through the book. I found that there was too many characters and it was too hard to remember who people were. I stopped reading because I had no idea what was going on which is why I had to give this book a low rating.

Book TW: drugs, alcohol, sexual assault

Ruby, Melissa, and Nella come together from different walks of life and different personal struggle to throw a block party fundraiser. Their families and children face threats and everything goes wrong that night.

This book was listed as a thriller but it did not work as that for me. I struggled a little with the beginning and the pacing, especially when the ending came as quickly as it did. I thought it was an interesting take on a motherhood, showing three women living completely different lives. There was an interesting critique of how children of different ages, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds are treated. I didn't dislike it, although at times the British slang took some unraveling!

This is the first time I've read anything by Claire Seeber and I have to say I LOVED her writing style. In some ways, I felt that this book had the same sort of story as Big Little Lies so if you liked that, you will absolutely love this! I have to say you will want to make sure to clear your schedule as once you start reading this you will not want to put it down until you are done. It's truly that good! I can't wait to read more by Claire in the coming future!

Although this was a good read once I got into it, there were too many characters and I ended up getting confused and having to re-read parts. It did get better so I’m glad I stuck with it.

This wasn’t a boon for me. I found it hard to read, hard to understand and hard to remain invested in. Told by 3 POV - I didn’t really like any of the characters and I had to stop reading every now and then to revisit who was who. A slow, not very thrilling thriller that didn’t compare with some of the books out at the moment.

More a character study than a thriller, The Street Party takes us to a leafy, privileged part of London and a large cast of contemporary characters: ambitious fathers, ruthless mothers, spoilt children…all looking forward to a street party that will strip away the glamorous trappings to lay bare the true personalities of certain individuals. The novel touches upon a range of contemporary issues, from addiction over domestic violence to deliberate misinformation. Readers expecting a pacey thriller with lots of twists and turns may be disappointed, but open-minded readers who enjoy psychological insights will enjoy this novel. I would highly recommend it.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. This was a decent story, however I would not classify it as a thriller, this was more like a fiction. I liked the multiple person point of view, that is what kep tme interested. The party and the story leading up to the party was OK, the last part of the book was better and much more interesting.

I really struggled with this one. Honestly I just didn't find any of the characters to be particularly likeable or endearing, and no one stood out as especially unlikeable either so I just didn't love it. I thought it would be good for fans of Lucinda Berry's "Best of Friends" but it feel pretty flat for me.

Wow! I was really surprised with how much of a suspense novel this was. Honestly the characters were great and it kept me guessing the whole time. I love these type of novels! Must read.

The story centres around a summer street party that the neighbourhood is busy organising. Everyone is excited. Finally the party arrives, the alcohol flows, fireworks soar and it's all fun and games, until the morning after! When a shocking allegation is made, it is one word against another. No one knows what to believe. Do the neighbours really know one another as well as they thought.

This was such an enjoyable thriller. I was first drawn to this book by the cover and tag line. The plot has a perfect mixture of secrets, scandals, and betrayals. Admittedly the first few chapters were quite slow for me with the introduction of a lot of characters. But once it got going – wow! I could not put it down, desperate for answers.

I enjoyed that the story explored many contemporary themes and modern difficulties. It made the plot believable and more relatable compared with other thrillers.
A suspenseful fun thriller!

I was a little disappointed with this book. I was expecting a thriller and that is not what this is. I would put this in the women’s fiction category, maybe a mystery but not a thriller.

There are a lot of characters in this book and the author does a good job trying to develop them all but I had a hard time keeping them (and their spouses, children, relations, etc.) straight. At one point, I thought about grabbing a notebook and writing everything down.

It took over half the book for it to get interesting. The first half was all about character development and setting the scene. I wanted something to happen and was just waiting, waiting, waiting.

The book is set in England and has lots of British references which I enjoyed (I am a Brit living in the US). The book was easy to read and follow but lacked the thrill that I was looking for.

A book told in narrative by three different mothers. The street party that everyone was looking forward to when an incident takes place.

This book is a great novel of the extent that you go to as a mother to protect your children. Whilst I had opinions about who was wrong and who was right this book was clever enough to keep me guessing.

Never read Claire Seeber before but I would be glad to.

An amazing read. A book I enjoyed until the very last page. I will be sure to be picking up more from this author in the future!!
