When I read the blurb of this book, I couldn't wait to read it. However, I found it to be very slow paced. I do prefer a much faster paced read than this. I had my theories throughout and all of them were wrong! Whilst I did enjoy this book, and read it in a day, I don't think it's one I'll remember in a few months time.

A very different vibe to the other Caro Ramsey books that I have read but not a disappointing change. Enjoyed the haunting mystery.

Within the enigmatic pages of Caro Ramsey's "The Cursed Girls" lies a haunting tale that digs deep into the murky depths of a cursed lineage. Ramsey weaves a web of secrets and mysteries, casting a shadow of doubt over my every perception.

In this atmospheric thriller, Ramsey introduces me to a cast of complex characters whose lives are inexorably intertwined by an ancient curse. The narrative dances between past and present, revealing fragments of the chilling history that binds them together, and leaving me to question the true nature of the curse that haunts their lives.

"The Cursed Girls" is a masterclass in suspense, as Ramsey tantalizes us with subtle clues and unsettling encounters. Each page drips with an eerie ambiance, as though the veil between the living and the supernatural has grown dangerously thin. The sense of foreboding intensifies with each chapter, propelling us deeper into a world where malevolent forces lurk in the shadows.

Ramsey's prose possesses a hypnotic quality, drawing me inexorably into the heart of the mystery. Ramsey's attention to detail paints vivid landscapes, both physical and emotional, adding layers of complexity to the story. As the characters grapple with their own demons, I become entangled in their turmoil, unable to resist the allure of their haunting plight.

Throughout the narrative, Ramsey skillfully plants seeds of doubt, manipulating my perceptions and leading me down twisted paths of uncertainty. Just when we think we have unraveled the truth, Ramsey deftly pulls the rug from beneath our feet, leaving us disoriented and hungry for answers.

"The Cursed Girls" is a chilling exploration of the power of folklore, superstition, and the weight of history. Ramsey expertly explores the themes of guilt, redemption, and the lengths to which one will go to break free from a seemingly inescapable fate. With each revelation, the stakes rise, and the lines between reality and nightmare blur, leaving us to question the very fabric of existence.

Prepare to be swept away into a world of dark secrets and whispered curses. "The Cursed Girls" is a mesmerizing journey that demands your unwavering attention. Caro Ramsey's atmospheric storytelling will keep you on the edge of your seat, whispering ancient mysteries that will linger in your thoughts long after you've turned the final page.

Unfortunately after multiple attempts, I have not been able to connect with this book and regrettably have to mark as dnf

Plot and story were told by multiple characters with a great premise. This makes for interesting reading, but can be confusing if you don't keep track of whom is speaking when. Thrilling read, recommended.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for approving me for this book.

I felt the writing was done well in this book but there was just something missing for me and I couldn't get into it and enjoy it as much as I hoped I would.

This was a funny one for me. During the book it almost felt a chore to read. I found the characters frustrating. However, when I finished it and looked back, it all sort of fit together. Not one of my favourite books but worth a read.

This book was everything I look for in a book. It was so exciting. The plot was fantastic. It really had me on the edge of my seat, and my heart racing. It was very well written and flowed well.

A very slow and wandering sort of book, where everything is revealed very slowly (almost painfully so at times). So it wasn't my favorite book, but I also didn't hate it. An ok read but I dont know if I would rush to pick up her next book.

A difficult read in part, such a sad topic but an overall great well written book that I would recommend.

Megan returns to her family home after being away for three years because her sister is dying. Her family home in Scotland is amazing but there seems to be a tragic history of the family dying early.

It took me a while to read this book because I was sometimes confused with the different timelines.. Maybe the gaps between where I kept going back to it didn't help.. I was always engaged but this is just my personal opinion and I think many people would enjoy reading this.

I’ve read books by this author before but this was my favourite so far. Don’t want to spoil it but it’s hot brilliant characters and a fabulous mystery. It’s set in Scotland and I’d recommend it with a strong 5/5.

Unfortunately this book was not for me. Other readers may enjoy it more, but I could not get into it and ultimately did not finish it.

The Cursed Girls is the story of Megan, Melissa and Carla, whose lives have intertwined forever through their actions. Megan and Melissa are sisters, and the story starts with Megan returning to her family’s home in Scotland, to see her sister one last time before she passes away. The story then unspools through a series of flashbacks, detailed how they have ended up where they have in a few short years. In a family that appears to be cursed by tragedy, how many of the issues that occur are unavoidable fate, and how many are driven by each characters own actions?

This is a good story, with interesting characters and the way it is written means that it has an almost ethereal feeling. The story is told through flashbacks so we only find out what has happened, bit by bit, and the narrator perspective changes frequently, so you get to see different aspects of the story. On the whole, I liked it, but there were aspects of the story that I found slightly dissatisfying. I don’t feel that all of the threads were tied up - which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but when I finished the book I almost felt like there were still plot points that I wasn’t quite sure about. This does lean into the ethereal feel of the story, and I believe that I could go back and re-read the book and come away with a different opinion. I thought it was written and paced well and I’d definitely read other books by this author.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I did enjoy this, however not as much as I had hoped. I have never read anything by the author before, and the novel started really well, a fast paced psychological thriller with an interesting plot line, however this was a little disappointing at the end and did not end with the gusto that I had hoped. The author takes time to build the characters and their backstory, and the way that the book is written is interesting. This is neither the best or worst of this genre that I have read. Enjoy it for what it is but don't have too many expectations.

An excellent book that pulled me in from the start. While fast paced and full of suspense there was sadness there too.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for an honest and unbiased opinion.
