Being small and learning about the ever-changing rotation of friendships can be really challenging! If you have a little one who is struggling because their best friend has new friends, I'd definitely recommend this book. Beautifully illustrated, it's a sweet introduction to jealousy and a reminder that when you're cranky, filling your tummy can really help!

A great picture book for the under 5s. My 3 and 4 year old really loved it and were giggling away. A good introduction to learning about jealousy for young ones.
Ig Pig and Og Frog! had my four-year-old laughing so much that we had to read it three times on repeat.
Not only did he like the writing and story, my son mostly loved having two male characters who liked getting messy and eating worms. Ig and Og are funny and loud which is perfect for the book’s target audience, as young children love the excuse to be a little cheeky.
I think some of the story went over his head (such as Bog being a girlfriend and how she persuaded Og to eat different food), but these were comical touches for the parent/carer reading who would certainly know more about this experience.
My son only thought that Og had a new friend, but he still understood how Ig was feeling left out and jealous, so the book certainly works regarding the important issues it explores aimed at the younger reader.
What I love most is the vibrant colours and watercolour details on the illustrations. Every page feels full of energy and we had a lot of fun reading it together.

My daughters loved this book- easy to follow with charming illustrations. A great book for early years to discuss friendships.
This is a lovely funny story about friendship. Ig pig and Og frog are best friends and do everything together. Their favourite activities include eating worm burgers and playing in a rock band. This friendship is put into jeopardy when Og suddenly makes a new friend Bog Frog. Ig gets very angry and shouts and breaks things but then the story has a lovely resolution when they all say sorry and make friends. This would be a great book to have in an Early Years setting to generate discussion on the all important topic of friendship when children start nursery/school. The message in the story encourages children to make new friends and include others and it does it in a humorous light hearted way, that children can relate to. The illustrations are wonderful and make this a really fab picture book.

Ig Pig and Og Frog is a fab story about friendship, sharing and jealousy. Ig Pig really struggles to come to terms with Og having another friend Bog and the compromises that he needs to make when they all spend time together. The illustrations for this story are exceptional and completely bring it to life especially when Ig Pig decides that ‘Bog is ruining everything!”. A fantastic book with stunning illustrations!
