I appreciate the publisher allowing me to read this book. I really enjoyed this one the plot kept me interested until the end which is not easy, and the characters were engaging and believable. I highly recommend this book.

THERE ARE NO SAINTS was fine. I didn't really connect with the characters and the tone of the writing didn't convey a lot of emotion. That being said, I think this would work better as a script than a novel and could see a screen adaption of this being popular with fans of "The Devil All the Time" or other modern Westerns.

I started reading this book and found that it was not for me. I didn't think it was fair to review a book I didn't finish.

During the mid-1800s In Titusville, Pennsylvania (tiny village) oil has become the “new” religion. Men have struck an underground river of oil becoming wealthy. People went to Titusville in hopes of becoming wealthy too. Dexter James is a self proclaim demonologist (also known as exorcist). He hopes to become wealthy through his work. He claimed to be well educated in this work and has cast off demons, devils, spirits, spooks and so forth. Dexter has fallen for a lady Leslie Reed who doesn’t really seem like a woman. Perhaps she is a demon? Or is she? Will Dexter make his fortune?

The author has included several characters well written such as twelve year old Boo. There are some characters who may or may not have benefitted from exorcisms from the local priests. Told with humor the story gave me a peek of the wealth and decline of morals in the mid-1800’s. There are social problems such as gambling, alcoholism and prostitution. It’s a horror novel that I thoroughly enjoyed as the author has written it exceptionally well.

I didn't connect with this book like I thought I would.
At first I was into it. I wanted to find out where it was going but then half way through I just got bored.
The idea is awesome. The actual story it self just fell short for me.
