This is a beautiful children's book, with stunning pictures and a lovely, heartwarming story. Theodore is a little boy who collects fish from the ocean. One day he finds a mermaid in a shell, and he takes her home. After a while, she gets sick, and he knows that he must put her back in the ocean to save her. Something magical happens after this, which amazes him, and he has a lot of fun. My daughter thought this book was magical and amazing, and she loved it. Her favourite part was at the end of the book.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This delightful picture book is an absolute gift and the deliciously detailed illustrations bring the environmental-themed narrative to shimmering life. I wish my nieces and nephews were still young enough for picture books as this would be top of the list for my Christmas shop! Great for fans of Grumpy Fairies and the Little Princess books or for those wanting to help a child understand the importance of respecting our world and the other creatures that live in it with us.

This book is absolutely stunning! Not only the illustrations but the encouragement from the story to look after all living things. I read this to my 3 year old and he loved the pictures so much we read it three times over. I will definitely be buying a physical copy for his bookshelf.

This is a beautiful book. The muted pastel colours paired with the bright details, often lights, make the illustrations really appealing. I really enjoyed the way the text is cleverly positioned around the pictures in some of the pages.

The story is lovely and as we explore Theodore’s adventure, we discover on our own how important it is to look after nature. The message we get is an important one, we can enjoy all the beauty of nature around us but it is important to preserve and keep it safe.

We really enjoyed sharing this book together. I asked my daughter at the end of the story what she thought of it. ‘ I loved it!’ She said.

Once Upon a Mermaid’s Tail is an absolutely stunning book with a very important story. It’s heartwarming and enchanting and gives a powerful message that seems more relevant today than it ever has.

Using the concept of how mermaids got their tails, the story is handled brilliantly and is one that readers of different ages will take something different from. For younger readers, it talks about the importance of looking after animals and our seas and oceans, and for older readers it’s more about suitability, both of which are vital messages.

The illustration and bright colours are absolutely gorgeous and I love that every single sea creatures looks different. The attention to detail is truly impressive and this would be a wonderful book for any child to have on their shelf.

Theodore loves to collect fish from the ocean. When he finds a unique and beautiful creature he knows must take it home to care for even though a booming voice warns otherwise, Despite his best intentions she grows sick, will Theodore be able to fix his mistake before it's too late?

Once Upon a Mermaid's Tail is a gorgeous storytime book. The illustrations are captivating with lush or darkened colours that match the tone. The story itself is simple and impactful with its message. A special addition to any children's library. Thank you to NetGalley for a digital copy to review.

This is a beautifully illustrated picture book encouraging children to look after all the plants and animals on our planet.
I loved the story of Theodore, the little boy who loved to collect all kinds of different fish. On finding a special little creature (the mermaid) he was desperate to keep her but unfortunately she could only survive and thrive in the ocean. So many children will relate to this story and I would definitely use it in school with Early Years or Key Stage One children. As well as discussing the important messages that come out of the story I could imagine doing some lovely creative artwork using some of the lovely illustrations in the book.
Thank you to Frances Lincoln Children's Books and NetGalley for this eARC.

Once Upon a Mermaid's Tail is a cute story with a valuable lesson. Children can be possessive, and this may not be convenient at all times. This book may help a lot, especially with pets. Cute illustrations.

Theodore has a passion... Collecting fish! Fish of all shapes, sizes and colours. He has a huge room full of them, but he just can't stop collecting. One day, while searching the magic lagoon for a new fish to take home, he finds something special. A beautiful new creature that he named Oceanne. However, Oceanne grows weaker and weaker in the tank until Theodore decides that he needs to return her to the lagoon where she belongs.

A beautifully illustrated picture book about the importance of taking care of all of the other creatures that we share the planet with.

With such an eye-catching cover and memorable title, I expect this book will be a hit.

This was a stunningly beautifully illustrated book.
I would use this from the Early years and even in KS2 to inspire writing.
The message is an important message to look after our planet by looking after the plants and animals but done in a beautiful and captivating way.
I wish I had a copy in front of me as the illustrations were truly breathtaking.
I loved this and will definitely use it as it will inspire future generations to care about our planet and home !

This was such a brilliant kids book, the pictures were colourful, cute and very endearing. It has a great message for kids and isn't done in a way that's over powering or preachy. I think it's also unisex and not aimed towards a particular gender which is brilliant. I will talk about it in my April wrap up on my booktube channel.

One of the most beautifully, magically illustrated children's books I have ever seen! It's absolutely gorgeous, the illustrations feel like the entire book is glowing!

I loved the message behind this story, and it's great to teach your little ones:

- Courage. Doing the right thing and being brave no matter what obstacles are in your way.
- Caring for animals and the importance of respecting them, and knowing where they belong.
- Magic in stories. Introduce magic and whimsy to your little ones early on!

Love, love, loved it! All other words are unnecessary.
