All you'd expect from a Mills and Boon Medical - gorgeous hero, lovely heroine, stunning setting... Warmly written and all wrapped up with a HEA.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Set in the Lake District, Nurse’s One Night Baby Surprise by Louisa George is a M&B Medical romance. Doctor Fraser is a GP who has relocated from London to the Lake District from London after his ex died leaving him as a single parent to a teenage daughter, Lily, who is quickly going off the rails. Brianna works at the teenage health care centre he will be working at and she is very bitter towards him as she feels that he kept her away from her best friend as she was dying. Bri is also Lily’s godmother and feels that she must reconnect and help her through this difficult time.
Slowly resentments between the adults ease as they understand the pressures they were both under at the time. Lily still hates the Lake District and wants to move back to London. There has always been an undercurrent of attraction between Fraser and Bri which explodes into a night of passion and ... a baby. Will their relationship survive step parenting, a new baby or just collapse under these new pressures?

I don’t really like Medical romances or novels of an kind related to this genre but I enjoyed this book as it managed to combine the stresses of step-parenting, teenage angst, a surprise pregnancy, antagonistic adults and a dog with a low key medical element which didn’t over power the other storylines. I enjoyed that the parenting/ step parenting and teenage angst issues were not sugar coated or made to seem a breeze. I also like how the author showed how Fraser and Briannas’ attitudes slowly changed towards one another as the storyline progressed. I found this to be an enjoyable read.

A really charming medical romance with the sweetest cinnamon roll hero it was impossible not to fall in love with. It even managed to convince me that the teenage years might be survivable.... just.

5 Word Review: Family, grief, trust, love, belonging.

Content warnings: Medical content, grief, bullying, cancer, death of a parent.

I absolutely raced through this book. I loved it.

Fraser's family is messy, and it always has been. His previous relationship was a hot flash of lust and although he was always a father to Lily, he had a very separate life from her mother. The backstory for the characters was deep and heart-breaking, and it lead such a touching finale.

I loved the chemistry between Briana and Fraser. The narrative is split between them so we get to see their intimate thoughts about each other. It was pretty sweet. The two of them have a twinge of guilt, but then there is an undeniable attraction. I loved how they came together, and how they dealt with what happened, even if there was a small amount of avoidance and some very understandable wariness.

The relationship between Lily and Briana was excellent - guilt and resentment changed to a grudging respect and even, I think, love. Briana got to truly become Lily's godmother and really helped her through some difficult times. Lily grows up a lot and by the end feels a little like an old soul. It was lovely to see her mature.

The way family is explored is beautiful. There is nothing conventional, but there is a great amount of love and respect, and a distinct lack of judgement. There is a running bullying storyline that I thought was dealt with with a great amount of empathy, and resolved in a wonderful way.

There is also an emphasis on consent and boundaries and safe sex, and I am here for that in all romance novels.

I'd happily read this again, and read more about Fraser and Briana's antics as medical practitioners in the rural community. I loved the warm, fuzzy feels I got from Nurse's One-Night Baby Surprise.

The trials of a modern family
Following the death of his daughters mother and her getting into trouble with the police in London, Fraser and Lily have moved to the Lake District where Lily’s mothers best friend and Lily’s godmother Briana lives
I liked Fraser as a character, he is a dedicated dad and he puts Lily first even though he does have trouble with her adjusting to their new life and being a teenager. He doesn’t want to be attracted to Briana but he can’t help it and with her he learns so much about himself and what he wants from life
Briana has been hurt badly in the past and she has problems trusting people however she wants to build a relationship with Lily and make sure that she has a female influence in her life to support her and be there for her. She perseveres with Lily and I really liked this part of her character, she supports people to become better people through her work as a school outreach nurse and some of her anti bullying techniques sound like they could translate to the real world. Her trust issues and anger towards Fraser makes their relationship harder and although I understood the reasoning behind it, I still struggled at times with this part of her character. She wants to be safe and in control of her life which can be destructive behaviour but can also make her a stronger character as she begins to trust again
I’m not going to lie, I found the premise of this book a little weird, Briana has a relationship with her dead best friends co-parent which felt a bit strange to me and made it harder for me to connect to the characters. However this book did catch my attention and I ended up reading it in one evening. The focus is on the relationships between Fraser, Briana and Lily, how things can change and how challenged can both draw you together but also force you apart
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romance in a fabulous setting that focuses on the lives of the characters and how relationships evolve

Fraser doesn't know what to do, his teenage daughter is out of control and he feels like he is sinking so as a last ditch effort he moves them both from London to the Lakes District for a fresh start..much to the annoyance of his daughter. With a new job and a new start he is shocked to meet Nurse Brianna who also happens to be his teenage daughters god mother and his late EX's best friend!
The story was really well written and you could really see the imagery in your mind when describing the village. I really enjoyed this book and liked the aspect that the teenaged daughter brings

This is my first book in the Oakdale series. Fraser moves to the Lake District to keep his teenage daughter Lily out of trouble. He is a supportive father, which is even more important since her mother's death. Fraser has a complex backstory involving Bri, a nurse at his new workplace. Initially, antagonist, the couple cannot deny their attraction. Both have trust issues, but an unexpected outcome forces them to think again.

The plot is contemporary and relatable, with believable characters. The well-paced story reveals a heartwarming family drama. The romance is sensual and full of internal and external conflicts which take the couple on an emotional journey to a lovely romantic conclusion.

I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I really enjoy Louisa George's books. I'm not actually a huge fan of Medical romances but I do read them because of a few favourite authors like Louisa. She creates three-dimensional characters and believable plots. Bri and Fraser are a lovely couple and their journey to happy ever after is engaging and entertaining.

THE perfect Mills & Boon in EVERY way 💞

I was taken to Oakdale in a heartbeat and though I finished the book this morning, I am still living it hours later. You know when a story just gets under your skin and you live it even when you're not reading it - yup, it's one those stories.

Louisa George has an effortless way with words, transporting the reader straight into the story and feeling every moment. I loved Bri and Fraser - such a great couple with a believable and heartfelt backstory, I loved the chemistry that zinged between the pair from the off and gradually fell in love right along with them.

Perfectly paced, zero lag, and everything I wanted to read. I was so absorbed I completely forgot the title of the book and was just as stunned as Bri when those two blue lines appeared, just goes to show how much you lose yourself in this one.

A great read and I now need to hunt out the others in the series!

A different take on the traditional romance but lots of curve balls thrown in to make you stop and think. A good dose of teenage good sense is thrown into the mix to make the couple wake up and consider their relationship. An old friend dies leaving her daughter and the father alone. They move to a tiny English village ending up close to the mother’s best friend. There is hurt there and betrayal and feelings of loss and pain which are explored sensitively as the relationships move forwards and develop.

A single dad, an unexpected pregnancy, secret crush, friends to lovers, Louisa George combines many of my favourite tropes in her latest outing to Oakdale. Sexy, romantic, heartfelt and with real, relatable life experiences, I hope this isn’t our last visit to the Lake District or the last we see of Fraser, Briana, Lily and all the previous characters we’ve met, and whilst I don’t usually like compare, this series is right up there with the Sarah Morgan medical series’ of years gone by.
