I really loved the vibe I got from this book! The cover was eye catching as well as the title. Sync your menstrual cycle and phases of the moon. Sound weird? If women can sync their cycle to another woman then moon phases don’t sound too terribly difficult.
What did I like? The attitude through out the book is peaceful and relaxing. The recipes looked great but the kindle file was all distorted so those were hard to go through. I couldn’t get the pdf to load. While I’m in a peri menopausal stage the book still gives you some inflection material.
Would I recommend or buy? I’d love to look at the final copy in print. This was a unique find and a calming read that I’ve never got from any other holistic approach. I enjoyed looking!
I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review!
This is complicated. Like, yes, in a perfect world I'm eating like this. In a way that supports my natural rhythms and aligns with my cycles, etc. In reality however, I'm a mom person. A busy, working, cleaning, driving, folding, wiping, feeding mom person. Most months my period takes me by surprise because I don't know what day it is. The absolute last thing I need is to feel shame about not eating fermented foods during my follicular phase. It's just so far from realistic for the vast majority of people...
That being said, the recipes are yummy.
This cookbook had a lot of great information on the micronutrients women lose leading up to their menstrual cycle and how certain foods can replenish what is lost. A lot of yummy and easy recipes to follow. I will definitely be using this from now on and will recommend to all my girlfriends!
Thank you NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the Kindle ARC!
This was really interesting and I wish I had this when I was younger. After my teenage daughter got over her scepticism we tried some of the techniques and it did help her a little. I will definitely continue with this.
I like the way each section was set up - food and ritual.
I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.
This unique cookbook is chock-full of simple recipes using healthy, whole and vitamin-rich ingredients and organized according to those ingredients most needed during each faze of the menstrual cycle.
As someone who struggles with chronic Pelvic Pain associated with an abnormal uterine condition, I am always drawn to books about women's health or the menstrual cycle. This book is definitely more on the spiritual side, but in a sense of honoring your body.. I really liked these recipes as they are health conscious, no processed sugars, no wheat flours, and options for substitutions. The focus of these recipes is Anti-inflammatory, which can cause painful cycles, and listening to your body through the different stages in your cycle. There are many recipes I saved and I can't wait to try. I definitely recommend to anyone interested in better understanding their body throughout their menstrual cycle and being conscious about the food you consume to make you feel your best.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange of an honest review.
I loved this unique cookbook! Packed with delicious and nutritious recipes to foster whatever stage of life you're in. I appreciated all of the explanations of the different nutrients and how they can help us through each phase and also the reminders to slow down and take care of ourselves.
This is such a beautiful and informative book about creating a nutrition plan that puts women first. The focus on the four phases of the menstrual cycle and how to nutrition can be customized to suit every woman's needs is so empowering and something that I haven't seen before in a nutrition/cook book.
Wow, can I just say that this book is absolutely astonishing and helpful in so many ways?!
Detailed information about various subjects, such as:
How to shop (ie: bulk, seasons, budgeting), making stocks, nutritional info, Menopause in all forms, estrogen, progesterone, menstrual cycles.
Thank you Devon Loftus and Jenna Radomski for writing this this book, it is unequivocally one of 𝘵𝘩𝘦 best cookbooks I have read and undoubtedly will use time and time again.
Thank you to Storey Publishing and Netgalley for the free copy.
Wonderful book for women in every stage of their life. Maybe that time of the month doesn’t have to suck. Maybe we can listen to our body and appreciate it for all it is telling us. This book is full of recipes and ideas for helping our bodies to their fullest potential. It also explains what your body is doing in each stage. The pictures are lovely. Some recipes need ingredients you can’t get at your local grocery store but should be easy enough to get at a healthy food store or order online.
This was a really nicely presented book, id have lobed to have had the hardback physical version.
I loved the premise of the book and was excited to read it. Overall it was a nice book, the advice and layout was nice however you just can't talk about detoxing your body. Its 2021 let's get the science right that only the liver detoxes and we don't need to worry about toxins. 'Natural' foods and items can also be dangerous. Eg for 'clean beauty' i wouldn't rub a nettle on my face and that's natural.
I felt some of the recipes were also a bit out there and the ingredients aren't easy to source. However I did enjoy reading this book and I loved the feel of the book - it evoked a lovely witchy, feminine vibe. I wish I loved in the US to go visit the cafe!
Thank you for the arc.
This is a visually beautiful and a well written recipe book with great information about managing the female menstrual cycle through food, affirmations, recipes. Its visually calming and a good book for "me time".
I have been, unknowingly, searching for a female written cookbook with pearls of information on foods best suited for menstruation-related symptoms. What to eat when you have harsh cramping, bloating, cravings for salty/sweet foods, are all answered in this delightful, safe space for female readers. I felt warm and comforted by my fellow females in the affirmations and anecdotes provided by Jenna Radomski. While I can’t say that I am wholly looking forward to my special time of the month with all the internal pain it causes me, I can say I am looking forward to eating healthful foods from the recipes provided in this book to soothe the fracas within.
I received an ARC from the author and publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I find this book really informative, It’s the kind of book that i would keep going back to to look up information. How to best deal with cramp for example. effective remedies. My shopping list has doubled since reading as I can’t wait to make and bake some of the recipes first on
My list is the hazelnut brownies they look and sound amazing and the fact that they can help with menstrual pain is superb.
So much variety and thought In all of the recipes for your during your period and the rest of the month.
This was a sweet, well-intentioned, quirky book. Within it are incantations, positive affirmations, recipes and rituals for healing and happiness during the menstrual cycle. I love the female worship of this concept and the delivery is just as beautiful as any coven could create. The cookbook and life guide is wholesome and possibly has some helpful nuggets of truth and recipes for foods that help with inflammation and cramping.
I wanted the arc of this book, because I was interested in trying to balance my eating especially during PMS. I feel like a lot of people with periods suffer from all kinds of symptoms and while not everything can be solved by eating habits (something which was acknowledged in the book and very much appreciated), there are some things which can help. The information of the menstrual cycle was very interesting and I learned a few things.
I loved the recipes in this book. I have only tried one so far, but I liked it. I look forward to trying more recipes during the different stages of my menstrual cycle. The adaptability of the recipes to dairy-free and gluten-free as well as having a lot of vegetarian and vegan recipes was also very interesting. There were some meat recipes, but most of those can also be changed to a meat-free alternative. This was such a great idea, as adaptability and ease of cooking is something more cookbooks should have. I also really liked all the self-care tips which were included in the book.
The only negative thing to note in this book is that the writing could be more inclusive. Not all people who have periods are women and not all women have periods. Therefore, the language could be changed to something more inclusive. Acknowledging also trans and non-binary people who are not women but also experience periods would make this book immediately more appreciated by the queer community. I identify as a woman, so perhaps it could be considered to have a sensitivity reader.
The review of this book will be posted on Instagram closer to the release date.
"We worship our health, our bodies, our minds, and our emotions. We have faith in our wisdom and in our strength as women, and we seek and integrate rituals that fully support us - mind, body, and spirit."
I really like this book! It's mainly a cookbook, however, it's more of a lifestyle guide; health information, rituals involving meditation and gratitude, and recipes for bath soaks are just some of the examples of how this book helps you connect to yourself. It has a variety of recipes, from breakfasts and dinners to drinks to fermented foods to snacks.
I love the nutritional information that explains the use of different vitamins and the links to the recipes that include them.
[I received a copy of this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review]
A unique approach to a cookbook, this book gives you recipes tailored to the moon cycle. The recipes look incredible and the book explains how each one will impact you and affect your well-being

This is such a gorgeous book and had so much great information. I must say I loved the information on magnesium zinc and iron.
There are some great recipes as well and I highly recommend the vegan mac and cheese recipe is amazing and one I make quite regularly!
