This book is like an activity book designed for adults, filled with various prompts such as questions, lists, and drawing/coloring exercises that encourage mindfulness and help you connect with things that bring you happiness. It's an ideal resource for those who want to learn about mindfulness but may not know where to begin or feel overwhelmed. This concise book is a great place to record information that can help you find your center when feeling stressed. You can either complete it quickly and refer back to it when needed or take your time to work through it. Although it's not suitable for an ebook format, it's a worthwhile purchase for anyone looking for an enjoyable and practical approach to mindfulness.

There's a lot to commend this book of daily mindful activities. It's been designed to be cheerful and to lead the reader through the different phases of the year, whilst keeping anchored in the present.

It's a sweet book with beautiful illustrations. I'm not sure that I would engage with all of the activities. For example, a lot of them are based on drawing and that's not something I'm very interested in / skilled at.

Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a lovely combination of guided journal, daily affirmation book, and mindfulness guide. There are 365 prompts, each numbered; however, one can certainly skip around and do them as one likes, only a few are two-part prompts to be done on consecutive days. The prompts are roughly grouped by subject, but all are connected by the theme of mindfulness and joy. The book is set up in a very pleasant way, with colorful, fun illustrations throughout, and room to write in when prompted to do so. It should be noted that the author is British, and lives in a beautiful part of England where it's possible to do things like harvest blackberries in public parks and other such lovely things, and that she enjoys a certain amount of privilege not all of us enjoy. I'm not knocking her in any way, just noting there will be things the reader/user might have to alter to fit their situation- I honestly love this type of book, but it's not possible to make them perfect for everyone, and I'm not taking off points for that. Also, non-Brits might have to google some slang terms, but that's no biggie. This is one of those books that would make a wonderful gift to just about anyone, including yourself! My favorite prompt concerned hearing a negative or critical remark about yourself: apparently a study was done that says for every remark like this you hear, you need to hear five compliments about yourself. The prompt has you list at least five compliments to have ready, and I love this idea, and will definitely use it, for myself and others!

RECLAIM JOY by Emine Rushton is subtitled "A guided journal to discover simple pleasures every day." We know that journaling is an effective stress reducer and this book is full of colorful illustrations and numbered prompts. There are many examples to draw your own ideas (e.g., "take this book outside before breakfast and color in the sun as it appears in the sky today.") Plus, there is a big emphasis on movement, on various senses ("write down all the layers of sound in your world"), and on reflection (take the same picture in each of four seasons and then journal about the changes). I love the action orientation: "open your wardrobe and pull out the first item of clothing your heart is drawn to. Wear it today!" Truly, a fun book to explore and turn to repeatedly throughout the year.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review - Reclaim Joy by Emine Rushton

This review has been made possible thanks to @NetGalley and @Quartoknows for providing me with an Advance Reader’s Copy in exchange for an honest review.

This journal is a year-long guide to improving your life and progressively entering more mindful acts into your daily life. It’s got lovely illustrations and easy to follow guides for each day, if you’re feeling ambitious, you could even try a couple, or repeating some of them every day to create a mindful routine.

I thought the journal was really well thought out and genuine. It could help many people who’ve maybe lost touch with their more mindful side and reconnect with it a little bit more. This seems like the perfect gift to give someone who’s getting more interested in mindfulness, yoga, meditation etc or especially someone who’s just finished university and needs a chance to take a breather!

Some really nice activities you could do each day of the year or do many in one day. Really nice to get to know what is you.

A colourful and well laid out journal.
Some great prompts throughout, a great addiction to anyone’s ’self help’ library.

I really like the idea of this book. It contains 365 things that are either intended to bring joy as you do them or contribute to your long-term joyfulness (The closet cleaning prompts probably aren't joyful in the moment for most people). I think it would be a little hard to incorporate this book into a daily routine because some prompts are best done in the morning and some at night and some you just do once and others are meant to be revisited. The prompts do seem sweet and joyous though, if you like to draw. This book really expects the user to be an artist and if that's your thing I could see this being a fun book.

Reclaim Joy is a beautifully illustrated self-help book. It features 365 crafts and activities aimed to help individuals retain a more positive outlook on life as well as organise and reshape their lives. The sections are easy to follow and split into times of day as well as the various seasons. I love the fact that unlike most other self-help books, this one you don’t have to follow from start to finish, you can randomly skip to the task you feel that you most need that particular day.

My only negative point to this book is that most of the illustrations and colours schemes make it feel as if it is marked more towards a female audience, I would have rather it of taken a gender-neutral approach. I will personally be purchasing this book for myself and many family members and friends in the future as I know so many people that will benefit from these books positive vibes.

This book will show you how to notice, find and experience the simple things that can bring happiness back into your everyday life.

The book contains 365 ideas on how to notice these small things, from making a list of your favourite tunes to observing the sunset each night. The book has lots of cute illustrations throughout and plenty of space to write your answers in, though the dots throughout the book feel meaningless.

I received this book from Netgalley in return for an honest review.

I liked this book, but I didn't love it. Most of the advice in the book was information you could find in any other book on this topic. So, it would be a good book to read if this was your first time reading anything on this topic, but there's not much here that is new.

I would like to thank NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this ebook.

Reclaim Joy by Emine Rushton is a cute, illustrated book with 365 simple ideas that will help us cultivate our mindfulness and creativity. I really enjoyed going through this. I think my daughter and I will try to complete each of these activities every day. That will teach her to grow more mindful.

Will definitely buy it and offer it to my friends!

I can't wait for this to be published so I can pick up a physical copy! The prompts were easy, engaging, and really made me think about what I was working through. I loved the illustrations and how just opening up the book brought joy!

was drawn to this title by both the cover and the concept. The author, early in the book, shares a quote from Alan Watts which states, in part, “The meaning of life is just to be alive;” it is not to run and run and run. So, this is a journal to help one to slow down and experience life, rather than chasing after the next thing. In that spirit, this book includes things to do and think about in order to have that kind of life, 365 entries in all. Some are original ideas for me, others I already knew but that is okay. Readers can choose what they want to take and leave the rest, hopefully after a few deep breaths. Fill in the pages and have a memento of this time in life.

By the way, the illustrations are lovely. They very much enhance the text.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

Reclaim Joy, by Emine Rushton, is just what the subtitle says: a guided journal to discover simple pleasures every day. The author is a holistic therapist (not exactly sure what that entails) who provides a years’ worth of prompts and rituals designed to help the reader who is trying to incorporate more mindfulness into their life...which seems to apply to many of us during this pandemic!

Examples include “Harvesting foraged blackberries in a city park. Listening to the sound of the rain. Making petal paint.Tuning into birdsong. Creating your own morning motto. Appreciating the fragrant steam from a cup of tea. All nice things, and the print book is a workbook format that allows the reader to get creative with their efforts. It is more of a series of prompts to enable the reader to discover for themselves the benefits of mindfulness, rather than a book telling the reader about it. I like that!

A nice addition to my little library of self-help books. Now I just need to spend some time at being more mindful instead of reading for so many hours each day! With gratitude to Quarto Publishing/Leaping Hare Press and NetGalley, this is a five star entry into the literature of mindfulness.
