Thank you NetGalley, Annie Robertson and Welbeck Publishing UK for the ARC of The Guesthouse at Lobster Bay. This is my personal review.
Emma witnessed a terror attack, and she knew her life had to change. She did just that – she quit her job, dumped her boyfriend, and bought a Guesthouse without ever seeing it and moved to Scotland.
The view from her Guesthouse is amazing and she knows with her skills as an interior designer she can make this a wonderful place. Things do not go as she had imagined. She makes new friends, and her life does make sense for her after all she has been through.
The cast of people in this book makes the story blend together and it all fits so well.
I am looking forward to coming back to Lobster Bay.
With thanks to #Netgalley and #WellbeckPublishingUK for an ARC of #TheGuesthouseAtLobsterBay by #AnnieRobertson.
Emma has been through a tough time after witnessing a terror attack, she realises she needs a fresh start. The guesthouse at Lobstet Bay, ticks all the boxes and Emma hopes it will offer the safe place she needs to heal.
Things look less certain when Emma gets the keys and realises the task that lies ahead of her.
With the addition of an elderly oversized hound and a handsome neighbournn how will Emma’s new life work out in Lobster Bay.
This is a lovely, light read. Written well with some great humour and feel good romance.
The book fairies tell me that a sequel is on it’s way too.
Highly recommended. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fantastic feel good read. Loved this book and fell in love with Lobster Bay brilliant characters.
This book was well written and well balanced with great feel good vibes. Want to go visit and stay at the guesthouse as all the characters have become friends.
Highly recommended read
Emma works for an interior designer and lives with her boyfriend in London, she has been feeling dissatisfied with life but doesn't know what to do about it. As she leaves work on Christmas Eve to do some last minute shopping she is caught up in a terrorist attack and her life changes completely.
Emma gives up her job, leaves her boyfriend and moves back in with her mum where she finds a guesthouse in Lobster Bay online, she buys the guesthouse without going to view it despite her families reservations and heads off to Lobster Bay not knowing what to expect
A fab read, really enjoyed it
This was a perfect holiday read for me - I was immediately drawn into Emma's desire to turn the Guesthouse (and her life) around and the world of Lobster Bay was so endearing. I think I would have quite liked to have done the same actually!
The book is firmly contemporary with a traumatic event that kickstarts Emma's need for a fresh start. It was very believable as a storyline. The characters of Lobster Bay were well-rounded and varied, with some lovable quirkiness thrown in! I particularly loved the development of Emma and Hilda's relationship, and in turn that with Wilbur (the enormous Newfoundland!).
There was plenty of romance to be had and I was very glad to realise that there will be a sequel! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
**Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read an advanced e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own **
The Guesthouse at Lobster Bay tells the story of Emma an interior designer with over a decade of experience. After being involved in a traumatic event in London Emma quits her job, dumps her boyfriend and after seeing an advert online for a guesthouse in Scotland buys it and moves there. All in the space of two weeks, oh really!!!
When she arrives she is happy with her perchance but is shocked to discover she has also brought the boggest dog Emma has ever seen.
We are drawn into the beautiful world of Lobster Bay with lots of great characters such as Rhona the housekeeper, Phil the good looking butcher, Hilda the previous owner and many more. The most fascinating relationship is between Emma and Aidan the "infuriating goodlooking" next door neighbour, and the will they won't they relationship they have.
Will Emma accomplishes all she's ever dreamed of in this small town where "rumours spread like wide fire, whether they're based in truth or not" or will all the renovations and troubles be to much for Emma on her own?
I enjoyed reading this book with great well written characters there is lots of scope that left me looking forward to the next book in the series.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed most of this book. The terrorist attack part wasn't handled particularly well and didn't quite fit the otherwise light hearted story

When Emma sees The Guesthouse at Lobster Bay for sale online, she knows it is exactly the peaceful haven and fresh start she needs to recover from a recent trauma. Yet the moment she picks up the keys, Emma's dream of owning a successful guesthouse begins to unravel...
Emma has one month to get the handsome, terraced house with stunning sea views in order before her first guests arrive at the beginning of June, a task made all the harder by the discovery that the previous owner has included her elderly and enormous dog in the sale. And then there's the next-door neighbour, Aidan, the local boat-builder – self-assured and unwelcoming – who Emma must turn to for help in a crisis. As Emma and Aidan work together to get the guesthouse ready, they grow closer, but then Aidan is called away and Emma has to carry on, alone.
The Guesthouse at Lobster Bay is a lovely contemporary romance that I really enjoyed and it was such a wonderful escape. The characters are all really well-written with good pacing throughout. This is the first book I have read by Annie and I have to say I would highly recommend it!
During this book Emma is trying to find her feet again following a terrorist attack on London, which leads to her following her dreams of running a guesthouse.
This book doesn’t end on a cliffhanger but I was very pleased to find out that there will be a sequel, and I am very much looking forward to reading it.
Rating 5/5
After witnessing an attack in London, Emma leave her boyfriend and her job, buying sight-unseen a guesthouse in Lobster Bay. It comes with it's quirks, including the old owner who doesn't want to let go, and neighbour Aiden.
A great setting for a book.
Loved the idea of a get up and go! This is exactly what Emma does, after leaving london and arrives in Lobster Bay. She buys a guest house not realising that guests arrive within a month. Really a delightful read.

Throughout the summer, Emma must navigate unforeseen dilemmas and new friendships and keep her business afloat. But as she falls in love with Lobster Bay, is she also falling for Aidan?
There is not a lot I can say about this story without spoilers; what I can say is that it is another well-written, heart-warming story from the pen of Annie Robertson.
I want to thank NetGalley, Welbeck Publishing UK and author Annie Robertson for a pre-publication copy to review.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
A guesthouse is for sale online, and Emma thinks it’s exactly what she’s looking for, peaceful and a fresh start, giving her a chance to recover from a trauma. But when she gets the keys, that dream isn’t turning out as she imagined….
The house has gorgeous sea views, but, it’s far from ready for guests. She has just one month to get it in a state where she can invite people to stay. A task made harder for her, as the previous owner, she finds out has left a big and elderly dog included in what she’s bought.
Next door, is Aidan, he’s a boat-builder, but very rude.
This summer Emma faces dilemma’s, forges new friendships as well having to keep her business on the up. Is Lobster Bay the only thing she’s slowly beginning to love??
I really enjoyed this story of Emma using sticks leaving London behind to start anew but it is not all Rose's.
Lobster Bay just sounds glorious,
A well wrtitten tale and such likeable characters I already cannot wait to re visit at Christmas.
Thank you to NetGalley, Welbeck Publishing and the author for the advance copy of this book to read and review.
Emma leaves work one Christmas Eve and on her way home is sadly caught up in a bomb attack.
She ends up giving up her job as an interior designer, leaving her long term boyfriend that she realises is not “the one”, and buying a tired guesthouse in the Scottish town of Lobster Bay.
Her decorating skills are pulled into use when she arrives at the guesthouse. She doesn’t realise at the time of sale that the well-priced house comes with a very large dog, or an attractive neighbour who is keen to help Emma fix up the property.
I really enjoyed this book. Not too frivolous, making new friends in town and a little romance 🥰📚It makes for a good read!
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I really enjoyed this lovely feel good book, great location, likeable characters and a good storyline. Really liked it.
Emma buys the Guesthouse at Lobster Bay without seeing it. She decides that this is the new start she needs. Emma doesn't realise how much work needs to be done and she's only got a month before guests start arriving. Loved this book
Stuck in a rut with her life and relationship Emma witnesses a tragedy which makes her quit everything and look for her new start which takes her to lobster bay in Scotland after viewing a guest house for sale she grabs the opportunity with relish, she has always dreamed of owning a guest house and takes the bull by the horns and buys it without viewing.
Once in lobster bay Emma befriends the locals and a hostile Hilda who was the previous owner, and is also faced with a huge Newfoundland dog who unbeknownst to Emma was included in the sale of the guest house.
A few bumps along the road but all's well that ends well
A fab setting and storyline and loved the characters and of course Wilbur the dog
Imagine its Christmas Eve, your strolling through the streets of London knowing that you have a family, a good job (albeit a better pay packet might be nice!!) and boyfriend of six years. Your doing your last minute Christmas shopping when looking in the window of a shop you hear an almighty bang and flashing of lights. The next thing you know the blast has thrown you off your feet and you wake up and see a severed leg next to you, and a lady staring at you asking for help with her eyes!!This is what happens to Emma!!! The lady asking for help is called Dawn (unfortunately nothing could be done for her)!!
After being involved in this terror attack everything that Emma had in her life changed, she split with her boyfriend, then bought a guest house without viewing it in Scotland!!!!
Annie Robertson, the author has written this book with a bit of a shock factor at the start but then writes about a Emma who takes a risk on life and ditches everything she knew to try and make a childhood dream come true by running her own guest house!!! The book talks about friendships, family, love and community spirit…..altogether a lovely read and I’m looking forward to reading the follow up book!!
Great pace, loveable characters and a few twists; a perfect, happy and romantic read for the summer (and any other time!).
A bomb going off in London is the wake-up call Emma has been waiting for. She reevaluates her life and spring into action. Handing in her notice by email and buying a large house without seeing it, may not be the most thought through decisions she's ever made, but Emma is soooo ready for her next adventure.
Arriving in Lobster Bay Emma takes in the new scenery, the locals and her new home. She's in for quite a few surprises! Not being a local, she doesn't always have the full picture and misunderstandings happen.
I like the fact that the book has a happy ending with no cliffhanger. I am looking forward to reading the second book in the series, Christmas at Lobster Bay.
The Guesthouse at Lobster Bay was a shortish but gripping read,
After witnessing a terror attack Emma gives up everything and buys the guesthouse sight unseen. When she arrives she finds there's far more than she bargained for. Will she manage? What other surprises might there be?
I loved this book, it made me laugh out loud plenty of times, and cry my eyes out at others. The characters are all well-written and believable and the pace was fast in all the right places.
Definitely a book I would recommend.
