When Marissa Irvine goes to pick up her son Milo at a playdate with Jacob. She discovers that not Son is not there. Not only that the family doesn’t live there either. She panics and contacts Jacob’s mother Jenny and finds out that the date was never arranged. So, who has Milo? What do they want? Is this a kidnap and wants a ransom? Apparently, the playdate was arranged by text message. Who does that and not speak to someone and hand over a child without knowing who they arranged it with?
The police are called when they investigate, they find out that the nanny of the child that should have had the playdate with has taken Milo. But why to what end? When they delve into the nanny’s past, she is not the person who everyone thinks she is.
I was clued to this from the very first page. This is intense story of a mother’s worst nightmare when a child goes missing. It was professionally written original storyline and so many twists and turns and characters that I sometimes couldn’t keep up. When the child was found I thought that was the end, but there was more. This is different child goes missing story than previous ones. That just keeps on giving. 5 stars from me.
This book is a fabulous read and the twists just keep coming! Full of surprises with a cast of believable characters, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Great read. Storyline based around the kidnap of a small boy. One twist after another- thinking I had it sorted and another one comes . Some strange characters- but mostly believable. The father's involvement threw me but Would recommend to a friend.
Omg, I read a lot of thrillers and mysteries but this one was like a constant spiral with the amount of twists and turns it had in it!!! It hooks you from the off and I had it read in a day, I just couldn't put it down. It really is a mother's worst nightmare and goes to show how you can never really know or trust anyone. It's very well written and never gives away to much or too quickly to keep the story progressing at a good pace. There really are not drawn out chapters or slow parts to this story, it's constantly moving and evolving and changing everything that you thought that you knew. Normally I hate a "neat" and perfectly tied up ending but the final twist made the ending just perfect and the story complete. Nothing is as it seems in this story and be prepared to rethink everything that you though that you knew. You'll devour it in a matter of hours
This was a fabulous read, it got better and better the more I read it, I was so gripped by finding out the why this happened. Told from the perspective of two mums there’s distraught Marissa whose 4 year old son Milo is missing and there’s Jenny who feels guilty despite doing no wrong. This was really easy to read but very engrossing, the characters and their reactions were fantastic and there were plenty of people to have suspicions about. The actual why was mind blowing and also incredibly creepy, I really felt for Marissa at this point, superbly done all round.
Gripped from the beginning. This is a brilliant read. Short chapters help the story to flow along quickly. Full of twists and turns and a very unexpected conclusion.
My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
Imagine going to pick your young son up from a play date to be told by the complete stranger who opens the door that he is not there. Has never been there.
So begins Marissa Irving’s living nightmare as the search for her missing son Milo raises more questions than answers.
As the police investigation delves into her family and those close to her, a suspect is named. The identity is so unexpected that it sends shockwaves through the Dublin community where this novel is set.
Despite naming the suspect the investigation is far from over. It’s just the beginning.
My heart was pounding from the off. So many potential suspects . Got it wrong soooo many times. Curveballs coming at you left, right and centre. Gripping and intense. Highly recommend this thriller.
An absolutely amazing read. This one had me gripped from the very beginning and wouldn't let go!
A refreshingly original storyline, with a dizzying amount of twists. It had my head in a spin trying to figure it out and I still failed spectacularly, as I discovered on reaching the brilliant shock ending.
The characters were realistic, with plenty of depth and described well enough to feel the nail biting tension. Interaction between them only added to the suspense.
You don't want to miss this one!
A great book. Marissa has arranged a play date for her son Milo and this was made via text with Jenny who she met at a “do” and also the boys go to the same school. Marissa leaves work and goes to collect her son, Milo, She knocks on the door and a lady answers the door. Marissa says who she is and that she was here to pick up her son. The lady who answered the door has no idea was Marissa is talking about. Marissa panics and does not understand what is happening. The police are informed and after phone call after phone call she catches up with Jenny. Eventually they realise that after talking to parents and the school they realise that Milo has been taken by Jenny’s nanny. The story moves from family to family, who was happy to help and who backed away. The police find it difficult to understand what has happened as there are so many conflicts and suddenly bodies who they have to investigate but it all leads back to Milo’s kidnapping. Eventually Milo comes home unharmed physically not very clingy to his mom. Jenny is still struggling to come to terms that her nanny was involved even though she did all the checks necessary before employment. Marissa and Jenny become friends as does Esther who was the women at the house where Milo was supposed to be. As the story progresses it becomes clear that not all is well with many of the characters but I really enjoyed the intrigue. The ending was not what I expected at all and was quite a shock - interesting
When Marissa goes to collect her son Milo from his first playdate at Jacobs house she is shocked to learn he's not there, and Jacob doesn't live there. She contacts Jacobs mum Jenny and discovers the playdate was never arranged. So follows every parents nightmare, Milo is missing and they have no idea where he is and who has taken him.
Short chapters help this book flow very quickly as you just need to keep reading to find out what's happening. If I had a very small criticism it would be that there are rather a lot of characters but by the end they all have their role to play. I raced through the last few chapters in disbelief
A great read
Many thanks to Netgalley and publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review
What an opening! A mother turning up to collect her young son from a play date, only to discover that she’s been given the wrong address and nobody knows where her little boy is. Your are drawn in from this point.
The chapters are short which enables the story to move quickly. So many twists to the story that I defy anyone to say they knew what would happen in the end. A great read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK for the advance copy of this book.
My true rating for this book is 3.5 star
This book is about Marissa. She collects her 4 year old son Milo from a play date to find that the lady who answers is not the nanny that Marissa is expecting but a complete stranger who has never heard of Milo. As it dawns on Marissa that this is not just a simple mistake the search for Milo begins.
This story started off really strongly and I was really intrigued and invested in the story. The story is told from several different viewpoints in both past and present. For me what let this book down was at about 3/4 of the way through I started to lose track of who all the characters were and also felt the plot started to get really drawn out.
One of my pet hates in thrillers is when everything gets explained in detail by a character, normally the villain. That is exactly what happens in this story. I just don’t find it realistic and would rather find out with flashbacks which could have easily been done in this case as other parts were done like that. Overall I enjoyed the story and will be looking out for other books by this author.
I was hooked from the very first page! The chapters were satisfyingly short, which meant the story moved at a really good pace, and it was difficult to put down. There were lots of twists and turns as the story unfolded which kept it interesting. It was a real guessing game as to who was involved in Milo’s disappearance and why. The back story of the characters added to the intrigue and the connection between them was often a surprise. My only negative was the rather abrupt ending, which I felt was a bit rushed and disappointing. But others might think it was the appropriate way to end it. I thoroughly recommend this book. It will reel you in from the very beginning and keep you hooked until the end. Thank you NetGalley and Andrea Mara for allowing me to read this fabulous book.

Although the premise of this book hooked me in, it took me a while to really get into it. There were quite a few different characters to get to know and it took me a while to get to grips with them all. Well over half the book was taken up with building the characters and setting the scene. Along with the main thread there were a number of smaller additional threads, some were relevant and some weren't!
Once the plot really got moving, the excitement grew. There were a lot of twists, and with so many characters involved, the outcome wasn't predictable.
I did enjoy this book, but I found the beginning a little too slow, and I had to wave aside my ideas of what could be reasonably plausible to enjoy the fizz of the conclusion.
This was a well crafted thriller, with plenty of twists and turns. The beginning of the book shook me, making me think about what would happen, how I'd cope if it was my little boy, but you soon get caught up on the story of Marissa and her husband Peter whose son is abducted, new to the community Jenny and Irene, from whose viewpoints the story is told. As we start to piece together the story and what happened, Mara keeps you on your toes with enough red herrings to keep you guessing right to the end.
All her fault is a story about a mothers worst nightmare.
Your child has gone on a playdate, and when you go over to pick him up, everybody is gone.
Amazingly well written and tense!
All Her Fault - Andrea Mara
Wow, what a book! I have never really fully trusted anyone to look after my children and this story reinforces that.
I kept trying to guess whodunit and thinking it had to be them, then it was the next person right up to the point of Milo dropping them in it, so the author did a good job in the aspect of suspense.
This is the way thrillers should be written.
All Her Fault is one or the first thrillers I’ve read in a long time which has been in no way predictable or over the top and unrealistic. For me, the book struck the perfect balance between engaging plot twists and being a believable story.
Although some people might find it a slow burner, the beginning sets the scene really well and also begins to sow the seeds in your own mind. You start piecing together the potential clues and trying to solve the mystery.
The ending was satisfying and made sense. I really liked how each character was rounded off and felt that all of the loose ends were tied up.
The characters are likeable and relatable, particularly the small town setting where everyone knows each other and the bitchy primary school gaggle of mums, I thought this was well written.
One thing I would’ve liked is to hear from the kidnapper’s perspective during the kidnap, but other than this I think all of the details and questions I had were covered. I have to say this is one of the best thrillers I’ve ever read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book to review.
What a thrilling book this is, so well written, full of twists and turns and it kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to the end and what a fantastic ending it was.
All the characters were interesting and the story line was just brilliant, one brilliantly addictive book which I can definitely recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Publishers for allowing me to read this book.
This book started off well. Marissa thinks her child is on a play date with a friends child but when she turns up at the address, he’s not there. Then I felt the book went downhill. There was no tension, nothing that kept me wanting to read. The characters were going about daily life and having normal conversations and nothing was being done or discovered. I got half way through and just didn’t have the enthusiasm to go any further I’m afraid. I felt it just needed more to keep me hooked
