This was a very unique and interesting graphic novel. I really appreciate the focus on mental health and DID in particular. I really liked the art style and the use of colors to depict emotion and active personality. I would definitely recommend this to readers from middle grade to adult. I can't wait to to see where this story goes.

Growing up is hard enough. Growing up when you have at least six distinct personalities? That's even harder. Elle just wants to make friends and do well at her new school, but often the stress of her life overwhelms her to the point where her other sides start to take over. Will Elle make it through, or will family secrets and a sinister shadow being push her over the edge?

Elle(s) was a greatly enjoyable read. The colorful artwork bled into the colorful personalities, and not all of them Elle. The friends that Elle makes at her new school are a large part of what makes this book work, as they give Elle (and the different parts of her) good chemistry to work off of. There's enough of a cliffhanger at the end to make the sequel worth anticipating, but it is not so big that this book feels unsatisfying. Overall, an good read in which teenage readers may see parts of themselves.

QUICK SYNOPSIS: Elle is the new girl at her school. And for a teenager, making friends in a new school can be a challenge. Luckily, Elle is able to find herself a new group of friends. STORYLINE & THOUGHTS:
~ This graphic novel was very enjoyable and VERY colorful!
~I will admit that I am not too familiar with Dissociative identity disorder, so I don't want to say that this graphic told it in the most appropriate way. I'll leave that for other reviewers to discuss.
~ I do believe that this book's audience is focusing on middle school-aged and adult readers.
~ Although this book is the first book for the series, I do look forward to reading more in the series when more are published.

Elle(s) is an absolutely stunning graphic novel, about a young girl, Elle, who attends a new school and makes new friends who don't know one thing about her: she has multiple personlaties that are as different from one another as it gets. But will she tell her friends that and will they find out about her past?

I adored this. It was a really short read, 100 pages, you can easily read in half an hour, that captures your attention with every panel. The art is amazing and really beautifully drawn and the dialogue too is well done, without annoyingly long speech bubbles, and keeps the readers interested throughout the entirety of the novel.

While I'm aware that this is only the first book, I was a little disappointed at the lack of explanation for Elle's past. It got mentioned, but it felt like that was only there to make the readers interested in the next volume without giving them any clues as to what happened.

All in all I really enjoyed reading it and I would definitely recommend this to everyone looking for an interesting, short graphic novel.

NICE!! It's a short and fun book to read! You'll learn a lot about mental health especially Bipolar. This book definitely gives us more explanations about this topic. I love the art style.

PS. The ending is a cliffhanger.

I don't know what I was expecting from this but I got so much more from it. Elle is a great character and all of her alternate personalities/character traits made her that much more interesting. I was not expecting the twist at the end, and the cliffhanger made me want the next instalment immediately!

Oh. My. Goodness. I absolutely loved this incredibly short graphic novel. The art is gorgeous. The story is interesting. The first thing I thought of when I requested it on Netgalley, was my favorite computer game growing up, Rocket's New School. It was also interesting to find out this has been translated from French.

In The New Girl (Elles), Elle is starting a new school and quickly makes friends. But then she starts acting strange like she's a bunch of different people. She has Disassociative Identity Disorder (DID). I do not know if the representation is expressed correctly because I'm not very familiar with it but I do like how Elle describes their personalities and categorizes them with different hair colors. I also know how hard it can sometimes be, living as a teenager with mental illness that you don't completely understand. I really hope this is turned into a series because the ending was very abrupt. I would like to continue diving into Elle's mind with her. Luckily, she has some understanding friends at her side.

I sat down, downloaded the book and read it all in the space of 30 minutes.
A quick and fun read, and WOW, what a beautiful graphic novel!
The colors and graphics are just stunning!

This mental health theme is not something I've seen a lot in books or graphic novels, but it is well done and I think it can make it easier to understand for kids and youth.
The small touch with changing her hair colour based on what part of her we are seeing is so smart!

Elle's friends are a fun bunch, but so good and supporting. I wish I had a friend group like that!

The only thing I can say is not so positive about this book is that it kinda moves too fast. You don't really get to know the characters before they are hurled into the stuff happening.

The book ended way too fast and I need to read more!

I wanted to like this but ultimately could not get into the story. I made it to page 35 before I had to stop reading. I felt that this was disjointed and I couldn't connect with anyone. The story moved too quickly and we hardly got to understand the characters.

Elle(s) is a beautiful, colorful and detailed graphic novel. The story is about a girl with multiple personalities. Each personality comes out at varying times and sometimes in quick succession. The illustrator showed this by changing Elle’s demeanor and her hair color.

Elle just started at a new school and quickly makes friends. When her other personalities start showing her friends notice something is of. Elle tells them and together they start searching for an answer. I loved the group of friends and it really reminded me of my group of friends.

Because it’s a graphic novel the book is only a 100 pages long. That being said, the ending came very suddenly and being really into the story it came as a suprise, because for my idea I wasn’t reading that long. The story ended on a major cliffhanger, so hopefully we don’t have to wait to long on the second volume.

I enjoyed this book. The way the various personalities of Elle are presented is quite interesting, with the different hair colours telling the reader which personality is in charge, while it seems like the other characters do not see this physical change. I liked the art style of the graphic novel, and I thought the characters were well-rounded and their friendships were well written. Each character had their own personality. I look forward to reading the next installment.

Love it. The idea, the story, the characters, the illustrations. Different Elles with one color each, different personalities. I connect very well and easily with Elle.

But if I have a problem, why did it end up like this? I know it's very short so it has to end with a cliffhanger. I have a great time reading. I'm looking forward to the next part.

Pero si tengo un problem, ¿porqué termino así? Ya sé que es muy corto así que tiene que terminar con un cliffhanger. Me la pase muy bien leyendo. Estoy esperando impaciente la siguiente parte.

Elle(s) is such a quick read. This book not only has an intriguing plot, but also the illustrations are amazing. There is one page dedicated to each of Elle's personalities and how they take some bad news, and even if we didn't have the different hair colors to distinguish each personality, based on facial expressions and background details, we would still be able to know which personality was which.

Elle is a normal girl until she gets stressed. When she is stressed she has a variety of personalities "take over" and become in control. Each personality reflects different moods or personality traits of Elle from being moody and distant to angry and competitive to being shy and timid.

Seeing each of Elle's personalities come out was incredibly impactful because it truly mimicked what happens to some of us when we're stressed but only in visual form. To be able to see Elle go from angry to sad in a matter of minutes really resonated with me.

This story also has a mystery element to it because we're trying to figure out who the blue-headed Elle is and where Elle really came from.

I adored this book and it's such an incredibly quick read. The art was incredible, the dialogue was quick, and the friendships made me extremely happy.

I’m hooked already! I loved this mental health story and how it shows that a good support system can make a world of difference to someone dealing with mental health issues. I can’t wait to remember more of Elle’s journey..

This was incredible, I enjoyed the beautiful art work and the story, I cannot believe it ended that way though!!! I need more, when is the next one coming out?! I understand that this is a French comic that has recently been translated into English.

It's only 90 pages so definitely doable to finish this in a day, it's fast-paced and will keep you hooked. It has superhero vibes with the neon themes, the different versions of herself was interesting and I'm definitely intrigued. It's mentioned that she may have bipolar but Elle dismisses this and doesn't think she has that. I appreciated the anxiety rep though!

The friends all have their own personalities and I loved Linette, she is adorable. They're all so supportive and a great network for Elle.

I will definitely carry on with the rest of the series! I would recommend this if you like graphic novels about friendship, finding yourself, and adventure.

I thought this was an interesting read. I like the different colors for the different personalities. I think it’s great to have a graphic novel about this topic. The illustrations were wonderful as well!

Well that was a really interesting read. I loved the art, although many frames had characters "speaking" without a mouth being open which I thought was strange at times - looked like people were talking through their minds.

I liked the idea of the multiple personalities presenting themselves with different colors. In fact, the colors were my favorite part of the novel. The friends were cool and I am interested to see where the next installment will lead. Who is the blue Elle?

The first thing I have to say is WHY did it have to end like that?!?!? I need more now! And that’s not something I normally say about graphic novels but this one intrigued me so much that I’m actively seeking out a sequel ASAP please! Second, the art style....WOW! The art style is absolutely gorgeous it’s a beautiful animation style-esque style and I’m in love. The colors, the effects, everything was stunning. Finally, I enjoyed reading a story about a person with what I believe is Dissociative Identity disorder . I don’t know much about how the mind works or how accurate this is, but I believe that each person has a different way of experiencing their DID and I think this was a really interesting way to explore one experience. Again I don’t have experience with this so i cannot say whether it was accurate or not. I liked how the illustrations depicted the different Elles with different hair colors so we could tell them apart as she switched.

All that being said there were somethings I didn’t enjoy about the graphic novel. I didn’t like how quickly the story went. I got confused at who some of the characters were; I couldn’t figure out who Farid was at one point. Linotte’s character seemed very out of place and was just there to be clueless about everything. The story went by so fast and there were a lot of subplots going on besides exploring Elle’s;, what happened at her old school, grief, adoption, etc. it was a lot happening in such a short book.

Overall I think this was a beautifully illustrated story that explored an interesting topic but could have been fleshed out a little more as it was way too short for the amount of content/plots included.

WHAT?!! I didn’t know it ended on a cliffhanger, I need to know what happens next!

First, I want to talk about things that were not perfect, but could have been better. I noticed some people said that the dissociative identity disorder was not explained correctly and that it was harmful representation. Since I do not have it, it’s not my place to talk about whether is accurate or not. I do admit that what happened inside Elle’s brain was not how it happens in real life, but I believe it was a different and fun way of portraying it in a way that was creative and interesting to read for kids and teens. Maybe the next book should include a psychiatrist’s diagnosis where Elle gets some answers about how her brain works.

Anyway, moving on. I think the graphic novel was wonderful. I loved the storyline. I loved how Elle’s friends were extremely supportive of her. I loved the drawing style and all its vibrant colors. I loved to see what was happening inside Elle’s mind, and how magical it felt, even though it was not realistic.

The dialogues felt natural and the characters genuine. The relationships between them were believable, and so was everything that happened in the story. The whole plot was extremely original and gave a really calm vibe.

To conclude, I can’t wait to read the next book!
