This comics was such a fun, colorful and quick read. I kept thinking that it would be great as an animated TV show. I would definitely love it... now and especially when I was a kid.

I really liked this graphic novel and the art style is beautiful. But it all happened so fast that you can’t really process what was happening. I really wished it was longer. I’m curious to find out more in the next one.

I am … conflicted. First of all, it’s pretty awesome to see a Belgian author make it to NetGalley. How do I know the nationality of the author of a book I read in English, you ask? That’s easy and part of the complexity of how I view this book. This book is advertised to be about a girl with bipolar disease, which is exciting because we love to see that representation. Part of my research afterwards was to see if Kid Toussaint also suffers bipolar disease because then that’s part of his experience and I can’t say anything about it.

I can’t find anything that speaks about it, so that’s where the complexity lies. If the author suffers from bipolar disease, and he wrote a book from his own experiences, that’s wonderful, we love to see it. However if he isn’t writing from his own experience, I feel like some odd choices were made and it shows in the other reviews of this book.

I scrolled through Goodreads for a while to see what other people were saying and a bunch just added to my confusion, because the way Elle her mental state and behaviour is written leans very close to DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). And a lot of the reviews did just state that the main character suffers DID and never even mentioned bipolar diseas in their reviews. So there’s that. The confusion is understandable. It’s very telling in the way each version of Elle has their own personality trait (and very telling in the way that one of them is labelled as the protector) and how they interact inside Elle’s head.

You see why I’m trying to be careful about expressing my confusing feelings, as I suffer neither from DID nor bipolar disease. The extend of my knowledge of bipolar disease is what I’ve learned during my social work education, SKAM and Shameless. And my knowledge on DID mainly consists of the educational videos of DissociaDID.

It can very well be that this story will develop further where more underlaying issues surface, but right now, without the behind-the-scenes knowledge, it was quite confusing. That being said, I did enjoy reading this and the artstyle was honestly stunning.

I really like the premise of this book and I like where it is headed. I hope there will be a second installment soon because I need to know what happens. Also, the art is absolutely adorable and I love that the differentiation between the Elles is the hair color!

What a fun graphic novel! It gave me Inside Out vibes and I am looking forward to the next volume! I loved the theme of friendship and the cliffhanger that we were left with at the end.

The artwork in this is gorgeous! I seriously felt like I was watching an amazing animated movie rather than reading a book. I don’t know many graphics that are drawn in quite this way.

Also, Elle is an endearing character who I found myself instantly wanting the best for. I also don’t know many stories where the character has multiple personalities. I’d read volume 2.

Lovely art style, a story that is a mix of YA high school coming-of-age tale and fantasy elements which combine to make a story which may be a sort of contemporary fairytale or a commentary about mental illness being handled on a metaphorical level. Either way, it's quite charming and fun.

The illustrations of this graphic novel are beautiful and remind you of a Pixar movie! The plot is intriguing and is nice to have someone with multiple personality disorder as a nice guy instead of a villain. People actually have these disorders and it is shame we always cast them in evil or demented roles. That cliffhanger has me ready for the next in the series as it ended far before I was ready!

AHHHH! Why did this have to end??? This is probably one of the better graphic novels that I've read. I love the concept behind it. Even when her friends didn't know what was going on, I like that we were able to see the different personalities based on whatever Elle's hair color is. This had me sucked in right away, and I wish it was longer.

Then it ended on a cliffhanger, and I'm really upset about it because I have so many questions I need to know what happens next right now!!!

To be honest, I picked out this book because of the cover, and I’m SO GLAD I did.

Elle(s) is about a girl named Elle who is new in town and has a secret. She’s not officially diagnosed (and I am not a medical professional), but I’m pretty sure she has Dissociative Identity Disorder.

This comic actually starts out by showing one of her alters who was previously wrapped in chains breaking free, so you know this plot is gonna be so good.

Before I get any further, I should point out that I don’t have Dissociative Identity Disorder. I don’t know anyone who has Dissociative Identity Disorder. But I used to be a fan of the youtube channel DissociaDID, so I know a bit about the terms used by systems who have Dissociative Identity Disorder.

One thing I think is really cool about this comic is how it shows Dissociative Identity Disorder and Elle’s unique experience with it. Since she isn’t officially diagnosed and doesn’t seem to know the term, she doesn’t have this vocabulary to describe her experience, but she can describe each alter, what they look like, and what their personality is like. This is shown in the comic visually through hair colors. The host has pink hair, but there are also alters with brown, purple, blond, green, and blue hair.

In addition to this, the inner world of the system is actually drawn out on page, which I find to be such an amazing way to translate this to people who don’t have (or don’t know) about Dissociative Identity Disorder. Interestingly enough, each alter seems to have their own “world” they live in, with fronting shown as watching TV.

I also love how supporting her friends were. Even though they didn’t know what was going on, they waited until she was ready to tell them about the system and let it be on her own terms, rather than forcing her to answer their questions.

There’s a lot of mystery to this comic, most of which is just starting by the end of this first installment. I’m so excited to read more in this series, especially after the cliffhanger at the end of this first part, and I’ll be keeping a lookout for the next part to this series!

This was definitely a unique story discussing someone with a multiple personality disorder that sounds manufactured?? That's what it sounds like. The artstyle is awesome and the characters seem interesting as well. I think my only issue is that it felt at moments that the plot was telling not showing and one of the characters was truly annoying. Because of these points, I have to give this comic a 4 out of 5 stars. I am definitely curious to see what happens next.

Volume one follows our MC Elle just as she starts a new school, she is fortunate to find a wonderful set of friends who help her through some tough times.

I find both the graphics and story of this graphic novel to be mesmerizing. It’s clear that Elle has DID (dissosiative identity disorder) she might not be diagnosed yet but I’m assuming she has it. It warms my heart that she has friends who love and care for her regardless and accept her for who she is.

Having a story for adolescents that shows the different sides of mental disorders and that true friendships can still be attained is so important for those who suffer in silence.
I highly recommend this Graphic Novel.

OMG what a comic.
I got hooked from the cover, and was so intrigued on what it was about. The illustrations are so beautiful and cute, I loved Elle's characters and really want to know where her story is going and will we find out more about her past.

A great comic about mental health, acceptance, teen drama and friendship, along with a female lead which is amazing.
100% reccomend!

The story is about Elle, a girl with multiple (multicolor) personality. I sure enjoyed meeting Elle(s). All her personalities are interesting. My personal favourite is the pink one although, I can relate with the brown one. The other characters are also adorable. The illustrations are vibrant and gives a webtoon vibe. The concept of the story is intriguing and I can't wait to read the next novel.

I really liked the plot and the characters and I can't wait for the next one!

This was alight, though the weird time jumps and lack of smooth transition at the beginning makes it somewhat confusing.
Basically, Elle seems to be a girl with disociative identity disorder. She is aware of at least 5 different personalities inside her (shown in the graphic novel by different hair colors) and she has had to move to a new school because at least one of the personalities lashed out at a former schoolmate violently. However, the reader is aware of a 6th personality that seems to be unable to come out, who seems to be sinister enough that she is depicted as being in chains at the very start of the story.
Because this is so short, the graphic is the very very tip of what promises to be an iceberg of information we will learn about Elle, but there is simply not enough here to get REALLY invested in the characters and situation.

An amazing idea and truly beautifully executed through the art created to follow the story. The way the illustrator has drawn the characters lets you see and feel every emotion on the page in full 3D colour through their eyes. Stunning and beautiful do not describe the illustrations enough! If a photo can speak a thousand words, each of these illustrations tell you all the story you need to know.

The story however was a bit jumpy. The plot concept was so originally amazing, but the way it was written was a little hard to follow. I struggled so much from with the amount of words and speech on some of the pages, while on others the flow of the images clashed with the words on the page. I honestly believe with some rewriting of the speech this could easily be a 5 star graphic novel. For the moment I leave it at a 3.5 star. 5 stars for the illustrations and 2.5 star for the writing.

This first volume follows Elle as she arrives in a new school.
We see her find awesome friends but also dealing with tough times at home and at school...

The story is very intriguing, the characters are already growing on me.
But what stood out most was how pretty the art was! I could picture a beautiful animated movie in front of my eyes.

This seems to be a representation of dissosiative identity disorder (DID) which we have so little positive représentation of. I hope the language will be sorted out (it's best not to talk about "one person with multiple personalities"...) But all in all, I really cannot wait to see where this goes.
