K. L. Slater gives us the story of The Marriage through various points of views. She does an excellent job of giving us just little bits of information at a time, keeping the reader's imagination working overtime! I want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an early copy to review.

The main reason why I chose this book was because of the cover and the statements the was printed on the cover itself. “10 years ago, he killed my son. Today I married him...” And I thought I was in for a wild ride.

But was it truly a wild ride? No. It wasn’t. From the beginning, the lead up was great. Until I got to about half way point. From there on, to me it just seemed to rush. I started to slowly guess at what was happening and the outcome of certain storylines playing out, which I was right. And when I got to the end, it came out rushed.

I wrote notes down while reading it so I could do this review, but if I wrote it all out, it would give too much away, and I don’t like to spoil a book for others. I will say that I am feeling underwhelmed from this book. Maybe it was the wrong first book for me to read by this author who I constantly see all over the place, and I am feeling like maybe I should give a few more of her books a try.

WHOA!!! This was such a well-written book and plot. Excellent on shock value until the last page. I really have not read a book this good with suspense factor in ages. You all are going to be blown away.

I generally liked this, but I have to say that I had a bit of trouble with the ickiness of The Marriage itself. I mean, the actual marriage, not the book called The Marriage. In addition, I found the ending to be a little anti-climactic.

I was not very convinced by this book at the beginning, I thought I knew what direction it was going, but after a few major twists, the ending was unexpected. It's the usual dysfunctional family with secrets psychological thriller. There are a couple of violent deaths. Therefore, it's not just a tale of family life. After about 50 pages, I was hooked, knowing that things were more complicated and sinister than expected. There are also a few characters in the book whose motivations are unclear, which motivated me to read more, even late at night.

It starts as a strange story, two teenagers were friends, but during a drunken altercation, Tom kills Jesse and spends 10 years in prison. When it's time to come out of jail, things get complicated. Tom's mother expects him at home, but he announced that he had married Bridget, Jesse's mother and will live with her. He married Bridget, old enough to be his mother, which seems to be the main problem, but things get more complicated and sinister than this.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book! I did predict 2 things ahead of time, but there was so much going on, I didn't predict a lot of other things, and there's nothing I love more in a book than being surprised!

Note on the ARC @ 76%: Who are Richard and Joel? The names suddenly changed? I think "Richard" was mistakenly put instead of "Robert", and Joel was never introduced at all, so I just assumed he was a handyman of some sort?

What a crazy twisted tale! This book has such a unique story line that gets crazier with every page you turn. Just when you think you know what’s up things flip flop. This one kept me guessing most of the way through. It was well told , with some great characters. The volatile relationships were realistic and kept this book fraught with tension and suspense. A great read!

This page turning thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat! I couldn’t put it down! Read it in 2 days! It’s so fast paced and will keep you guessing! I really enjoyed how it was told from the past & present and multiple points of view. It was an internal struggle trying to figure out which characters you could trust and who was telling the truth. So many secrets and shocking revelations!

Synopsis: Meet Bridget. Her son, Jesse is killed by his best friend, Tom one night outside of a bar. Years later, Bridget marries Tom.

WOW! This book delivered. It was a bit slow in the beginning, but without that character development I think it would have fallen short. Once it picked up, it really picked up and just kept hitting me with twists and turns until the very end! It follows a woman who marries the man that killed her son and the stories that develop when he gets out of jail. I don’t want to talk about the book too much because I don’t want to give anything away. It’s just so good. Read it. trust me, you won’t regret it!

Lies and Secrets and more lies and secrets! Yes, they abound in this quick read. And agendas. Yes, each of the characters has not only lies and secrets to keep hidden, but a personal agenda to beat everyone else down with! Whew!

This was an intriguing plot which was nicely summed up at the end. Very enjoyable - a real page turner.

I received this ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, Bookouture, in exchange for an honest review.

"The Marriage" is definitely a book that will make you "wait, what?" for many times with all its twists.
I was able to get into the story since the very first chapter. The story's just gripping! K.L. Slater is definitely a talented writer who knows how to build up a mystery!
As much as I liked the plot twists and the big surprise reveal at the end, I think the book ended a bit hastily. I felt like the "villain" confessed too easily without putting on any "fight"? If not for the rushed ending, I think I will give this book a 5 stars!

Forty-eight-year-old Bridget is about to marry a man twenty years younger than her.

But that’s not the crazy part.

Her new husband, Tom, is also the man who murdered her son, Jesse, ten years ago.

And he is just about to be released from prison.

Plenty of family drama, and lots of pieces to the puzzle with little secrets here and there.

This book was definitely a page-turner because I totally wanted to see what was the secret behind this marriage!

I will say, in all honesty, I think I built up a bigger story in my head than what was actually going on, and therefore was left wanting much more than what the ending provided. A fun read, but can’t say the ending was overly rewarding.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for this early release of The Marriage by K .L Slater.
Tom has spent 10 years in prison for killing his best friend Jesse today Tom will marry Jesse's mother but is it true love or is there something else going on.
I found every character very believable.
Plenty of twists and turns kept me hooked throughout.
I thought I had worked out the ending but I hadn't.
K.L Slater's attention to detail is brilliant.I couldn't stop reading and truly believe this is her best book so far.
Looking forward to her next offering

The Marriage is my first book by K.L Slater and after reading it I do not know why I haven't discovered her before.
When I read the description "Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him." I was intrigued with what the story would bring and it did not disappoint.
It had twists, it had turns, it had believable characters. It had everything I wanted in a book with the bonus of being set in an area local to me which allowed me to really immerse myself more fully into the story.
I enjoyed it so much I have since purchased more titles by K.L Slater.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

I really enjoyed reading this. Lots of twist and turns , keeps you guessing throughout what the outcome will be, with a great little twist at the end you didn’t even think of. Its greatly written, your drawn into each character, it flips back to the past and present times, keeping you engaged and learning more about what happened on the dreadful night Tom killed his best friend Jesse. Would recommend everyone reading. The author doesn’t disappoint.

The subject of this book piqued my interest, and tying to place myself in their shoes.
Wow! Marrying the man that killed your son, not usual! How about having your only son marrying a woman twenty years older than him. The author gives us a story with all of these happenings, and more.
I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, but when they began to fall I never saw most of it coming. Talk about being blind sided!
A page turner for sure, I loved the way the author wove this read, and kept me holding my breath!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Bookoutour and was not required to give a positive review.

The book really exceeded my expectations of a psychological thriller. The lingering doubt and motives really pushed the book hanging onto the thoughts and feelings of the various characters throughout. Slater really delved deep into the gritty part of a drooling quintessential life and failing. The set-up alongside the scope allows for a deeper insight into backstories and how even the most domesticated life can be turned upside down. The deeper tones allow for a very truthful experience of the themes presented. Slater’s writing and characters feel as much as real people you could pass by, facing similarly presented issues and the change of a loved one going to prison.

The novel does become more unsettling where a lot of seemingly good thing are not as they perceive. Stripping back preconceived notions Slater’s writing gives nothing away and the sense of justice is just that.

The thriller’s length really is a slower book for people wanting a quicker however it is worth the push through as for the delusions and the peeling back of layers for the truth.

I had trouble getting into this as the story just didn't grip me. I am not sure if it was just me thinking to much or expecting more
