I’d like to thank NetGalley and HQ for approving me for an ARC of this book.

This is the first time that I have read anything by Sophia Money-Coutts but it certainly won’t be my last. From the first page I found myself chuckling away and I still find myself giggling about the phone sex scene even now! The book was littered with sarcastic humour and I loved it!

The story is told entirely from the POV of Nell, who is stuck in a rut. She’s surrounded by men that are only dragging her down. Whether it’s Gus, the dull and boring boyfriend, her maniac of a boss of Prince Pervert, she can’t seem to escape them!

When Nell was called back to her hometown I instantly felt like she was relaxing more, even if she found her dad trying at times! I was very intrigued to know what happened between herself and Art all those years ago and I thought the way it unravelled was delivered perfectly. Whilst I knew where the story was heading there were some surprises along the way.

This was a lovely story about teenage heart break, love, family and not being afraid to make the jump. Nell was relatable, funny and someone everyone would love to call a friend. I can not wait to read everything else Sophia Money-Coutts has written!

I read this book in one day. It was an easy, enjoyable read. I’ve read two books by this author this month and this one wasn’t my favourite of the two but I was still left with the warm fuzzy feeling at the end.

Did You Miss Me? Aww, indeed I did!!
Nell and Gus were in a long term comfortable (and convenient) relationship where marriage was not an option. When calamity strikes and Nell, a top-flight divorce lawyer, returns home to Northumberland to look after her ailing father, she finds herself reacquainted with her first love, Art, who quickly has her questioning her life choices. A classic head vs heart romance with some cringeworthy moments and some shockingly relatable funny bits.

I really enjoyed this novel, as I do all this author’s work, and the happy ever after is well worth the wait.

A fantastic book which is well written and completely engaging. I have been completely pulled in and kept hostage by this one.
This is unique, intriguing and one that I have devoured.

A lovely little read that isn't too taxing, but is warm and comforting.

Nell has a busy life as a family lawyer, often working 13 hour days. She has a kind and dependable partner in Gus, and if things are a little routine (read boring) - well, it's bound to be after 11 years - isnt it? Gus is adamant he never wants to marry, and Nell appears to agree. Except her secret stash of bridal magazines would suggest otherwise.

When she returns to her childhood home for a funeral she is confronted by her first love, Art. The man who broke her heart. And when her mother leaves her Dad, and he subsequently breaks his leg, she is forced to stay at home for a while.

During this time, she confronts feelings long buried, and finds out truths that change everything.

But will she jump or play it safe?

A really fun book that is wonderfully written by Sophia.

Nell is definitely not living her best life, she is just going through the motions day by day. She is successful, and has a loving boyfriend, but everything is a bit stale.

I don't like books where there is cheating, I don't abide cheating at all, So that kind of ruined this book for me, but it was clear that Gus and Nell where in a rut.

The chance meeting with her childhood sweetheart helped bring the book back around and it was clear they had unfinished business, I just wish it had been dealt with properly (but that's my own personal opinion).

The book is good to read, well written, funny and not too heavy.

Nell is a high flyer with a contented, if not exciting, life. Returning home to care for her father, she meets up with her first love, Arthur. Will this meeting disturb her previously ordered life? The funniest book I have read in ages, guaranteed to brighten up a cold, wet day.

An easy romcom read, with solid writing and a large cast of fun and interesting characters.

However the story was way too long, a hefty 400+ pages for a simple romcom storyline. We spent way too much time on her current boyfriend and didn't really get to know the new/old love interest that well (yes there's cheating which I could have done without).

Overall a nice-but-not-love read.

Just finished reading this this book, it is a really nice fun read and easy to get involved in the story I didn't what to put the book down. A story about 2nd chances. I think we all have something from our teenage years which is relatable in one way or another.

This was patchy for me - there was a lot of things to like but the main character wasn't one of them. Everyone else was quite appealing and as a Northumberland local it was nice to see Morpeth get some love!
The male characters were somewhat underwritten but I loved Nell's mum, her best friend and actually her dad,
A breezy read which doesn't ask too much.

Oh, I so loved this book! After initial problems with getting into it – no idea why, it was probably my reading slump – I then simply couldn’t put it down. I loved Nell – she was one of the loveliest characters ever, her dark and dry sense of humour was totally my cup of tea and her observations made me laugh out loud. Her whole family was hilarious and they had a great sense of humour, as well as they were annoying, but that’s the way families tick, right? The affection between them all, even in those hard times, was brilliantly captured.

When Nell returned home to look after her Dad the story started to feel even better – well, I probably was happy not to see Gus too often, then there came the weekend with him and I felt exhausted, what about Nell…! The scenes in the local pub and the conversations were probably one of the best ones in the book, I couldn’t wait for the characters to visit the pub again to be honest.

I think it was a lovely look at all the “what if” questions that we all ask ourselves. It also explores – in such a humorous and light way, but with some heavier moments as well – family and friendship. The way the author has explored relationships felt authentic and realistic and I loved how she balanced some of the sad moments with her absolutely unique and my kind humour. It is a book that has given me this warm little buzz, I enjoyed it so much. Bitter – sweet, realistic and genuine, Sophia Money – Coutts has delivered another gem and I am already looking for another release from her.

Nell is content with her life as a high flying divorce lawyer for the rich and famous. She and her equally successful partner Gus have been together for 11 years. Gus doesn’t believe in marriage and sees it just as a money-making business rather than about being in love. Nell just goes along with it but is a secret bridal magazine reader.

Nell is put into a difficult position when her mum leaves her dad, then shortly after, her dad breaks his leg. She has no choice but to move back home to look after him, much to the disgruntles of Gus. It isn’t long before she bumps into the man she thought would one day be her husband. But things hadn’t worked out like that.

Arthur Drummond had returned to the deal with the winding up of the stately home he had grown up in. The place was going to wrack and ruin and would cost too much to repair. He was married and living in America. Nell and Arthur had unfinished business in the past that needed to be dealt with.

Nell is an entertaining character that I liked from her first appearance. She has settled too much for the easier life, going along with others views rather than airing her own. Gus is like an overgrown spoilt child that she lets get away with whatever he wants. He is a great character for the book that made me cringe.

The story is pure entertainment from start to end and made me giggle at their over the top reactions. The quiz night is something else. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline which had more than its share of twists, and I liked seeing the changes in Nell, she was like a butterfly, quite unrecognisable from her early beginnings in the book.
A lovely, uplifting story, that I keep giggling at.

I wish to thank the publisher and Net Galley for an e-copy of this book, which I have reviewed honestly.

Well this book was totally relatable! Loved Nell and definitely had many moments where I felt for her situation. A gross slimy boss, a dull boyfriend (the sex scenes were so gringe 😂), working all the hours and her parents marriage falling apart. Jeez 😅 I mean, it’s safe to say I liked Arthur immediately 😜🥰 I wish he was featured more in the book 🔥 The story transported me back to teenage years (the good, bad and the ugly parts 😂) and made me think about my first love 💕I love books about romantic second chances don’t you?! They always leave me feeling good. 🙋🏼‍♀️

The writing was witty, laugh out loud funny and provided such great escapism. Full of joy, romance and heartwarming characters. I enjoyed the plotting too as I wasn’t sure how it was all going to play out for Nell. It had Bridget Jones vibes for me (obvs a big fan) so if you enjoy contemporary rom-coms and uplifting books, definitely check this out. 😎

I devoured this in 24hrs! Such a good story to get lost in. First love, second chances, that feeling of wondering if your settled or just settling, I was all over it. Love the humour that Sophia brings to her books. I cringed at some of the scenes with Nell and Gus he gave me the ick factor big time. The further I got in the more I wondered how it was going to pan out and it was worth the wait the end was great. I love that Sophia narrates her audio books too!

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed it, so much so that I’m going to buy her other titles. It was well written, witty and at times, laugh out loud. I loved the characters and found that I didn’t want to put the book down. Highly recommended.

Enjoyable rom com. Summer escapism for a quick, engaging and fun filled read. Each character was unique in their own way and the author showed great personalities in them. For me the book was written as if Nell was talking to the reader and I enjoyed it.

The synopsis:
Nell Mason is extremely happy with her life – or at least, that’s what she tells herself. She’s lucky to have a high-powered job as a lawyer, even if it does come with an eccentric set of billionaire divorce clients. And she’s absolutely fine living with her sweet, if slightly dull, boyfriend Gus in their London flat where they have very sensible sex once (OK, sometimes twice) a week. She’s definitely not stuck in a rut.

But when Nell bumps into childhood friend and first love Arthur Drummond who broke her heart fifteen years ago, she’s more than a little shaken. The seemingly perfect life she’s worked so hard for starts to feel, well, less perfect. Maybe Nell’s been kidding herself all these years. Can she ever get over her first love?

Love story between Nell and Gus. A happy couple with grand jobs, living in a flat in Clapham, London and a life that seems almost perfect, and very predictable.
But when Nell has to go and look after her dad, she bumps into her first love, Art, is her life as happy as it seems? Has she got over him?
There is a parallel story about Nell´s parents. Her mum is leaving dad after so many years to be married and she starts going out with an Italian guy who owns a caffe.
There are some passages that are just so hilarious. With her mum, with her dad…. I couldn’t stop giggling when I was reading the book.
Nell´s past life mixes with the present and it makes sense to properly understand what happened and all of the misunderstandings and why Nell didn´t end up with Art. But will she now?
This a very romantic and funny book. I did really enjoy reading something very fresh and quick for one of my summer reading books.
I will definitely look for some more books by Sophia Money-Coutts

I am usually a fan of Sophia Money-Coutts books but for some reason this one took me ages to get in to.
It’s the story of Nell, a divorce lawyer stuck in a rut.
She bumps into an old boyfriend, her first love, and the book sets out to find out if you can ever get over your first love.
On paper, this synopsis sounds exactly like my type of book but I think I was about half way through before I felt like I was invested in the story - there are definitely better books by this author.
