I Loved this book. It’s the first one iv ever read of Sophias and I will definetly be downloading her others. Her writing is so clever, fun and witty and not a totally predictable story like some other romcoms, the characters are so likeable, Especially Nell , you even take to poor Gus and his funny names for her, Nells Dad and her brother are a hoot and it just flows with wit and humour as well as touching on first love and hurt.
I def recommend this and Sophia will be in my list of favourite authors from now on.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the pleasure in reading this early proof

A light-weight, light-hearted romantic comedy about a successful career girl forced to return to her parents’ home to undertake caring duties and bumping in to an old flame, a childhood sweetheart who also happens to be the son of the local aristocrat. What it lacks in depth, it makes up in clichés and the familiar tropes of romantic comedies à la Bridget Jones.. Not for me I’m afraid, but generally an okay swimming pool read, to be taken with plenty of sun cream and a glass of rosé.
With thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy.

A very successful divorce lawyer, Nell’s future looks quite good, she’s hoping to be made a partner in the firm she’s working with, she feels she’s almost got it. Meanwhile, her home life, is cosy, but perhaps boring, she’s in a relationship with Gus, which has been going for years. Although she knows he’s not exactly exciting to be with, she feels safe with him. One thing Gus knows, he doesn’t want to get married, as to him, it’s just a way to lure people to buy expensive rings etc.
Nell’s having to go home to Northumberland, and things are changing, her Dads broken his leg, in two places and her Mum has moved out. As well as that, Lord Drummond’s died.
The death, means his son will be back, Art, and Nell will have to see him. Art was her first crush. You get to see the backstory of them both, of what her childhood was like and what happened between them. This makes Nell think about what happened then. Secrets/lies are revealed, again making her question whether the life she’s living now, is a happy one and one she wants to live……
Recommend It.

Nell Mason is happy with her life. She has the perfect boyfriend, Gus, who is albeit a little bit boring but at least he is safe, reliable and caring. So what if they have sex on schedule every Friday morning?! She is on track for a promotion at work, she is hoping to make Senior Partner at a high profile law firm with lots of rich eccentric clients.
Life could not be going better for Nell until she is pulled back home in Northumberland for the funeral of Lord Drummond who happens to be the father of her first love. Art was her first crush and she thought the world of him, he was her brother Jake’s best friend but he always had time for Nell. She hasn’t seen Art since his 21st birthday when things went horribly wrong and Nell left with a broken heart. Art has been living in America with his wife and son ever since but now is back for the funeral and to sort out his inheritance.
The funeral stirs up lots of old feelings towards Art and it also kick starts a chain of events with Nell’s parents. Suddenly, Nell has to go live back home for a bit to look after her dad who had recently suffered an injury and it’s like a trip down memory lane for Nell. She is slowly being drawn more into the past and the unearthed feelings for Art are getting stronger. Has she forgotten what she wanted in life or is she wondering about what could be too much? Sometimes a leap of faith is just what you need.
Sophia Money-Coutts is an incredible writer and I absolutely LOVE her new book!!! She is the queen of romantic comedies and I could not put my Kindle down. I was hooked from the start and was on the edge of my seat throughout some passages. The writing was witty and funny, the story was original and I loved every second of the book.
I absolutely adored Nell as a main character, she was a strong woman and has worked hard to get where she is. I’m not going to lie I did not Gus at all, I thought he was pretentious and selfish. The pet names made me want to vomit and I was hoping that he wasn’t Nell’s forever man. Her brother, Jake, was a man child who I wanted to slap some sense into and felt bad that Nell was lumbered with a lot of responsibility. Nell’s parents were also very interesting and let’s just say the quiz scene was comical because of them two.
The story left me feeling happy and was the perfect escape. It was a lovely storyline and I enjoyed being on Nell's journey. I cannot wait for whatever Sophia writes next, she is such a talented author. Bring on book number five!

This is not the first book I have read by Sophie and I will be looking out for the ones I have not read yet.
Does a decision you made in your early twenties have to be kept for the rest of your life?
Successful career, stable relationship but is this what you want forever?. A return to village life unsettles and brings questions to the fore that you constantly ignored.
Enjoy the wonderful characters and get to know them as friends and become invested in their lives.

Did You Miss Me? By Sophia Money-Coutts is the most delightful contemporary novel looking at first love, friendship and family.
I always love Sophia Money-Coutts novels and thoroughly enjoyed this one. The tone is friendly, down to earth and honest. It is also highly amusing and I did laugh out loud at times.
Families are complicated affairs. We do not choose ours and we do not always get on with all the members.
The leading lady is absolutely charming, realistic and likable. She is easy to empathise with.
The novel explores the lasting effects of our first love – the pain, the tears, the heartache – and the love that never dies.
In contrast we witness marriages that fall apart as the leading lady is a divorce lawyer. It is painful to see the value some put on objects over people.
Returning to the family home is never easy but we see the caring nature of a daughter for her father as she immerses herself in Northern life.
This Northern life is in sharp contrast to London life. We see the openness and down to earth nature of the North compared with the wealth and appearances in London.
I adored Did You Miss Me? and am sorry that the book has ended.
I received a free copy from Harper Collins via Net Galley. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
A word of caution: There were some explicit details that some readers may be uncomfortable with. I just skipped over these pages. It did not detract from my overall enjoyment.

Loved it - so relatable and so funny. Don't want to give spoilers but the main characters are awesome. Perception -haha. Read somewhere that there are three sides to every story - yours, mine and the truth!

Did You Miss Me? follows Nell, Divorce Lawyer living in London, her boss is a maniac (her words not mine, I thought he was quite hilarious) and her boyfriend likes a trouser press. But she loves her life, doesn't she?...
📚
After some unfortunate events back home in Newcastle Nell finds herself back home for a few weeks looking after her laid up (and hilarious) father, oh and the families Irish Wolfhound named Wilma (my mother's name, also funny, well for me anyway)

I really loved this one, it was absolutely what I need in a #RomCom actual LOL'S and a great story to lose myself in. Fantastic characters all the way through and the writing was spot on, as if I was watching a film. I have the authors previous novels on my #TBR and after finishing this I'm so looking forward to those now too.

This is a witty, easy to read romantic comedy and the second book I have read by this author. Just like the first, it didn’t disappoint at all.
Nell is a successful lawyer who appears happy with her life in London and her long term boyfriend, Gus (who quite frankly was a total bore and I don’t know why she was with him)!
Nell ends up taking a trip home to her parents in Northumberland, where she bumps into her old childhood friend Art, who is the son of the recently departed Lord Drummond. Nell clearly has been carrying a torch for Art for years but he left Northumberland and moved to America with his wife and son. Do you ever get over your first love? Can you ever go back to how things were?
Nell’s mum and dad made me laugh. Her mum runs off with the local coffee shop owner and her Dad is drooling over busty Bev the social worker! I could just picture these characters. Hilarious!
Predictable, but enjoyable. Great feel good read.
Many thanks to netgalley, the publishers and the author for an arc.

I liked reading about life in Morpeth and the town gossip. This book is definitely a good quick and easy read. It is absent of depth BUT it’s 100% a fun summer read that won’t make you think too hard. It definitely wasn’t my favourite. I really got into the last 100 pages or so as everything came to a head, but was somewhat racing through to get to that point. Nell’s inner monologue is amusing and engaging most of the time but I think I found it hard to like her as she’s a bit mean (I say this because it’s clear from page 1 that she doesn’t really like Gus much at all, yet doesn’t communicate with him properly about the problems so how could he resolve them??? – not that I liked Gus but, give the man a chance!) & maybe because I’m a lawyer by day so the profession side of it didn’t hold 100% of that magic for me (I don’t do divorce though). All in all, it’s a great holiday (or, holiday at home) book if you are looking for something light!

The premise of this novel sounded good, however for me it’s only three stars. It’s well written, but the first 50% of the book is SO slow and ponderous, much given over to Nell’s introspection into her very uneventful and crushingly predictable life. And ‘what happened’ that night at ‘the party’ when she was still a lovestruck. teenager. I almost gave up on the book twice.
It perks up when Nell has to leave her London life and the incredibly dull Gus, and go back home to nurse her father, who has broken his leg. Whilst there, she reconnects briefly with Art, her first love from her teenage years, now married and based in New York.
I found it difficult to invest in the story of Nell and Art, it is all very superficial, and so much is about Nell harking back to ‘ what happened’ at Art’s 21st birthday party. We don’t find out exactly ‘what happened’ till the final few chapters, then it hurtles forward to a tidy conclusion in record time.
Nell is supposed to be a very experienced lawyer at a large high - profile London legal firm, and she must be good at her job to be considered for partnership at such an exalted law company. To have got to that position, she would have to be a very strong, assertive woman. Instead she comes across as a ditzy Bridget Jones type character that life happens to, without her having any control over it. It’s unconvincing that she would have spent so many years with the Uber- controlling Gus for the same reason. There are some very cliched, almost comic book characters described in the supporting cast, which I found unbelievable.
My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance copy of this title.

Nell has it all sorted. She is a successful lawyer living in London with her boyfriend, Gus. They've been together for a long time but haven't married because Gus doesn't believe in marriage. Nell is working her arse off as the next promotion is just around the corner.
Nell is from Northumberland and when younger, she and her brother used to hang out with Art, the local rich boy. His father is Lord Drummond and Nell's dad's boss. Art is also Nell's first love, who broke her heart.
I'm a sucker for books about past loves. The what if's. The if onlys.
Nell gets a phone call from her mum to say that Lord Drummond has died and although Nell has avoided being anywhere near Art since he broke her heart, she knows that she has to attend the funeral which will mean seeing Art again.
There are some truly ghastly characters in this book who behave in despicable ways but there were also lots of light moments
I really struggled to get into the book at first though and had to keep putting it down but it ended up being ok . I was disappointed in the ending as I just felt that it was too rushed. Things were wrapped up very quickly and neatly which left me feeling confused.

Nell from the outside looks like she has it all great job (divorce lawyer) on her way to promotion and a loyal high flying partner in Gus. They work hard with no plans of marriage but is this life really for her.
When her parents split up and her dad breaks her leg so returns to her home town and to skeletons of the past. Reuniting with old friends and an old flame.
The book was very witty. Great overall writing style. Easy to read and great depth of character. The plot was abit too similar to another book I’d read recently hence 4 stars instead of 5.
But it’s been an enjoyable read. Thank you for giving the opportunity to read this book

Just lovely. An easy read, fairly predictable although there were a few bits I didn't expect, and just what you need from a book like this.
Gentle with likable characters, I enjoyed getting lost in this.

I am a sucker for any story that involves your first love, the one who you thought the world off when you're a teenager and think of over the years.
This was a lovely story about Nell who is happy-ish in life however has over the years fallen into a different life she did not expect to be living. On a trip to her hometown she attends the funeral and could potentially bump into the first love.
A sweet story with lots of likable characters.
Thank you to NetGalley & publisher for the opportunity to read a copy in exchange for a honest review.

I enjoyed this book a lot, it was easy reading despite working out where the story was going quite early on there were some twists I wasn't expecting.
Nell is a high powered career woman who lives in London and works at on of the top law firms, her life is going exactly as she planned - flat, boyfriend and potential promotion very soon. That is until her father takes ill which leaves Nell having to travel home to the countryside in the north of England to help out. While 'stuck in the back of beyond' Nell begins to realise just how different life could be if she didn't have to stay changed to her desk until 8/9pm.
Some of the characters in the book annoyed me with their lack of empathy and understanding but maybe that was the point of them?! However, I do feel that if my friend had been in a relationship with Gus, Nells boyfriend I would be having serious conversations about their relationship!

Nell Mason is a successful divorce Lawyer, with her future mapped out and the hope of being offered a partnership just out of reach. At home, Nell’s fallen into a cosy but boring long-term relationship with Gus. Gus isn’t very exciting, but he is reliable, and Nell can depend on him, whether it be for his in-depth knowledge of fine wines or cooking skills. Gus is determined to not get married and views marriage as a ploy for advertising companies to sell diamond rings.
Back in Northumberland, where Nell grew up, it’s all kicking off. Nell’s dad has broken his leg in two places, her Mum has moved out of the family home, and Lord Drummond has died. The demise of Lord Drummond brings his son Art back to the family estate and into contact with Nell, him being the subject of a long-ago crush. Lots of flashbacks to her idealistic childhood, growing up on the Drummond estate causes Nell to address the issues from back then and evaluate her current life.
A good, enjoyable book, with a laugh out loud, warm plot.

Nell Mason is extremely happy with her life – or at least, that’s what she tells herself. She’s lucky to have a high-powered job as a lawyer, even if it does come with an eccentric set of billionaire divorce clients. And she’s absolutely fine living with her sweet, if slightly dull, boyfriend Gus in their London flat where they have very sensible sex once (OK, sometimes twice) a week. She’s definitely not stuck in a rut.
But when Nell bumps into childhood friend and first love Arthur Drummond who broke her heart fifteen years ago, she’s more than a little shaken. The seemingly perfect life she’s worked so hard for starts to feel, well, less perfect. Maybe Nell’s been kidding herself all these years. Can she ever get over her first love?
Thanks to Netgalley and HQ for an early review copy o this book in return for an honest review. This book was a good, fun read - predictable yeah but aren't most up-lits? Perfect for reading on the beach or loosing yourself in for the afternoon.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable read. I’ve already heard so much about this book so I had high hopes and it did not disappoint! The writing style was cute and fun and I’d say it is the perfect beach read

Often Endearing Romcom….
Nell, high powered job (a tad legal), living with boyfriend (a tad boring) but not in a rut (a tad rut like) has her world shaken and stirred when she meets up again with her first love. Lighthearted, often endearing and amusing, romcom. A ideal holiday read - armchair or otherwise.
