Nell has an enviable life in London - she lives in her own mortgaged flat ('maisonette') and works at a respectable law firm in Holborn where she specialises in family law, aka divorces. Her clients are all well-heeled or famous or both, with high value settlements and she's hoping her hard work will result in a partnership. She's been with Gus for eleven years, a intellectual corporate lawyer, he's pompous in his tastes but, as Nell is still nursing a broken heart from fifteen years ago, she doesn't mind. She doesn't eve mind that Gus is dead against marriage, and, in her line of work, she completely understands.

The lord of the manor, Lord Drummond, dies and Nell goes home for the funeral where she learns that home life is far from dull and that her world is about to be shaken and the most firmly held beliefs fall about.

A perfectly pleasant novel that is easy to read an fun, not laugh out loud funny, but certainly witty. It is romantic escapism and I did enjoy it.

I did wonder at the characters - there's always the Mills and Boon earls and dukes, but real life ones felt a little out of reach. It is a world few can relate to, even the divorce clients are not people we can generally visualise unless you read a lot of Harpers Bazaar or Hello! Their emotions, thought, are real and it to this we cling.

It is always difficult to end such stories - they are either unsatisfying or saccharin sweet. This one tends to the sweet but is just about believable. The big reveal, if it were less heartbreaking, would be a beautiful English farce, and, although you can see if coming, the final piece of the puzzle is shocking enough to satisfy.

Ultimately, this is a feel-good read so the unlikelihoods and the not ringing true don't matter. It is a fun read, getting to know Nell and Art and Lucy and Colin is fun and, in the end, no one is too villainous. Well, maybe Prince Pervert, but you can't have everything.

This was the first book I'd read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The characters were lovely and Nell and Gus's relationship was very realistic. The second chance trope is one of my favourite romantic novel tropes and this was a wonderful example of it.

The only slight issue I had was I felt the ending was a bit too neat (I know it's a rom-com and everything is neat, but I'd still like to have seen a bit more detail!)

I now plan to read the author's entire back catalogue!

Sophia Money-Coutts does a good line in writing fun, interesting, and heartfelt romances with protagonists who feel very real. This story of second chance love in circumstances which have come together so that the stars align (although they also involve meeting the love of your life while you have poo on your shoe) is sweet, engaging, and endearing.
Nell has a good job, a steady partner, owns a flat in London, and basically, has her life together. But when her family circumstances come together to force her back to her home town for a few weeks, the cracks start to show, and she realises that her life maybe isn't as picture-perfect as she thought. This isn't helped by the reappearance of the dashing Art who broke her heart when she was only a teenager. Still as handsome and charming as ever, with a tragic loss in his past and a family mess to sort out, he has his own difficulties to deal with. So why is Nell so intrigued, and why can't she let go of her first love?

I really enjoyed this, and fairly flew through it. The background characters were perhaps a little thin - Nell's feckless brother didn't get any real treatment, so was more of a vague annoyance than a real person, and Nell's mother and father's relationship wasn't inspected quite as closely as it maybe could have been. But the central aspect of this was the romance, and that was well developed, filled with missed communications and misunderstandings, but never in a way that felt particularly frustrating. Overall, very enjoyable, and I'll definitely read more from Money-Coutts.

I'm afraid this is another book I just couldn't get into. My interest went quite quickly and i don't enjoy reading when that happens

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and boy I wasn’t disappointed!
I really liked Nell the main character and felt like she was someone I’d like to be friends with. I’d highly recommend this book to fans of Holly Martin, Milly Johnson and Beth O’Leary. A fantastic, fun read.

This was really enjoyable, maybe a little cold in the formula but really, I sped through it and loved the emphasis on Nell's job and her competence and cleverness.

I absolutely adored this book.
Money Coutts is fast becoming a contemporary of Jill Mansel and Jenny Colgan and this is her best offering yet.

Such a warm, witty, well written plot, with likeable (mostly) characters and (without spoilers) who hasn’t dreamed of doing a Nell to their boss!
A real feel good book, the kind devoured over 2 days, but only because you realise you’re still reading at 1am and you must go to bed because you have to get up in the morning.

Can’t wait to read her next novel!

Sophia's trademark warmth and wit come together in a heartwarming story (and how much do we need those right now?!) We all know a Gideon (shudder) and a Colin and a Lucy. Though I confess I particularly loved Gus and his trouser press. A light, easy and satisfying read

An enjoyable read with well drawn characters. The ending felt rather rushed. I would have preferred more time spent on the resolution of Art's marriage. The wedding venue idea was unexpected!

I requested and received a temporary digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley, the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review.

Having read a previous book by the author I was excited to read this one. “Did you miss me?” asks the question that so many of us have wondered. What happened to our first love? And what would happen if we met them again?

The story charts the relationship of Nell and Gus, two high flying lawyers in London who have been together for 11 years. A twist of events leads Nell back home to rural Northumberland where, you guessed it, she bumps into her childhood first love. The story follows what happens next.

With some brilliantly funny supporting characters (my favourites were Wilma the Irish bloodhound and also Nell’s dad) there is enough going on to lift this from a simple ‘re-meeting old love’ story. Many readers will identify with the scrapes and situations Nell gets herself into, especially that pull between career and home.

It was a sweet, romantic and funny book, albeit slightly predictable. Easy and fun reading especially in these complicated times. Would recommend to anyone looking to escape for a few hours and perhaps if you’ve ever wondered what happened to your first love.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an e-arc in exchange for an honest view.

Overall I liked this book it was “ok” but it didn’t wow me (sorry). I just felt like everything was rushed. There was a lot going on but everything was sort of glossed over and the ending in particular felt really rushed and just too “neat”. I also felt like the side characters could have been developed more. Many of the sub plots they were involved in were just left hanging.

After reading ‘The Wish List’ and ‘What Happens Now’ after discovering Sophia Money-Coutts in the last year, it is safe to say I have become a new fan of this author and was therefore extremely excited to receive an advanced copy of her new title, ‘Did You Miss Me?’

This title introduces us to Nell Mason, a high powered divorce lawyer living an ideal life in London with her boyfriend Gus. But is she really happy with her life, isn’t Gus just a little bit dull and does she actually agree with his views on marriage? When she suddenly has to return home for a few weeks for parental reasons she quickly finds herself enjoying the simpler life, and when she happens to bump into her first love, the one guy who broke her heart 15 years earlier, well, suddenly she begins questioning if her life is as perfect and settled as she first thought...

Yes this is a rom-com but what I love about Sophia’s books and her writing style is that it’s not sappy, it’s downright laugh-out-loud funny at times! Her observations of every day life, interactions etc (and I’m guessing I’m of a similar age to the author due to references to 80s and 90s life - I LOVED Just Seventeen and More magazine!) help you connect with the character so well, you are rooting for her to get what she deserves - and to realise what a drip Gus is!! (You even feel the annoyance of his character, I could not cope with him at all! Lol!)

I loved this book and urge everyone to add this to your pre-order list for when it’s released in August, you won’t be disappointed! Thank you to NetGalley & Harper Collins for the advanced readers copy, can’t wait for the next book, no pressure Sophia!

Sometimes the book I’m reading gives me a warm little buzz that I can’t stop thinking about and I’m a bit conflicted because I don’t want to put down but I don’t want to end either. This was one of those books, I absolutely loved it. It was witty and authentic - I actually spontaneously laughed out loud a few times reading this - with characters that I feel like I’ve got to know and love.

Nell is an absolute delight, as the central character, her wry observations and deliciously dark sense of humour really appealed to me. It was also a joy to read about a real relationship complete with the most painfully - and hilariously- accurate sex scenes I think I’ve ever read; I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to read something that doesn’t follow the usual conventions of an evil boyfriend and zany, crazy woman making daft decisions.

This was essentially a second chance story which is one of my favourite tropes at the best of times, but what made this special was the affection Nell had for her family, her childhood home and her friends. We didn’t get as much time with Art as I’d have liked, but I felt like I knew Nell well enough by the end to trust her judgement. I realise that makes me sound like a crazy person, but whatever. I just want to be her friend, I think we’d get on well.

Fabulous warm, witty and low angst complete story. Highly recommended. I also loved What Happens Now? by the same author, it’s one of my comfort reads I’ve returned to a few times, I’m so pleased this will join it on my favourite rereads list.

*Thanks to the publisher via netgalley for the arc.*

I really enjoyed reading this, I believe this is my first book by this author and will be going back through previous work.

Found it easy to read and loved Gus.

Did You Miss Me.
Nell has a high powered job as a divorce lawyer in London, working all hours she hopes to make partner soon. She lives with her boyfriend Gus a rather dull character that doesn’t believe in marriage as he feels it’s an outdated institution and engagement rings arejust an advertising plot to sell diamonds.
Life is fine but pretty predictive until Nell takes a break and goes home to see her parents, whilst there Lord Drummond the local aristocrat dies and at his funeral his son Art is there in attendance having travelled from his now home in America with his wife and son.
Nell and Art have a past history from childhood, Nell and her brother were great friends with Art and as they grew up together Nell fell madly in love with Art. At Arts 21st birthday something happened that devastated Nell so she left home and started her life afresh.
There are some really funny moments in this book and it flows along nicely, we learn what happened on that fateful night, but not until well into 90% of the book, it ends well, but there really was no depth here I honestly didn’t think anything was ever going to happen to these two getting together. This is really just Nells story with Art there as a sideline until the last minute, the most we had of their relationship was in the last few pages.
That said it’s a RomCom, there was romance and humour so a very light but good read.
My thanks to net galley and publishers for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

I've read other books by this author and have always enjoyed them and this one is no exception. There is a certain amount of escapism in reading them and the characters are likeable (or not if needed) so you engage with the story telling and what everyone to have their happy ever after.

This, to me, is a beach read but in the absence of beaches at present, one for relaxing on the sofa or in the garden (weather permitting)!

I was a huge fan of “What Happen’s Now?” And I really thought I’d enjoy “The Wish List” and “Did You Miss Me?”. Sophia writes so well and is hugely talented and it saddens me that I couldn’t give an amazing review on this occasion. I didn’t enjoy this as much as I did with some of her previous works. It has its good moments, but it just want consistent enough to keep me wanting to keep turning the pages.

Great book. Easy to read and uplifting, one to put a smile on your face the whole way through.

I’m becoming a real fan of this author, everything she writes is brilliant!
