But honestly I'm loving the set up of the super popular guy obviously likes girl, but she's oblivious because she's to busy pre-tending to like him. (But is actually falling for him).
Especially since I nearly died of awkward laughter when Chigira-kun says "Mission Cleared"
It is one of the first manga's in a while to cause me to truly laugh.

It's adorably sweet and while nothing really sticks out about it I think I might continue it just because of how wholesome it is.

I have mixed feelings about this one. So we start off with the protagonist, Maaya confessing to a boy she has never talked to before and rightfully being rejected. After that, she vows to never fall in love again and her library duty partner, the handsome and popular Chigira-kun, overhears this and tries to comfort her by proposing she fall in love with him instead. I like the premise, but it's predictable. As far as characters go, Maaya isn't very compelling. While Chigira is your typical shoujo male protagonist, he seems to actually be a nice guy and I would probably like him a little more if his character was more developed. Towards the end, I did begin to enjoy the story a little more as they began to get closer. Hopefully, we get to know more about Maaya and Chigira in the next volume.

This manga was indeed, so sweet!! It definitely manages to put a twist to the whole "let's pretend I'm in love with you" trope since both characters agree that she'll pretend to have a one-sided love (so nobody lies, yay!). The male lead is surprisingly kind and there are so many relatable moments. Any fan of shoujo or slice of life will like reading this. There's respect and admiration, which always make romance the best it can be.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next volumes!!

It was so so so so good !!! Chigira is literally what i want - swoon worthy-sweet-caring-hot-i- words cannot even describe him and i dont know the word which can fully describe him , he is just that good !!!! Maaya , girl, she is so sweet , I hope she gains more self-confidence over time :) .
The chemistry between them is amazing AND i could not help but blush , smile and have butterflies in my stomach as i read the manga , it was that good!
I totally recommend it and i love it so much , i cannot wait for volume 2 !!!!

And Yet, You Are So Sweet by Kujira Anan is exactly as the title describes, a sweet Highschool Romance about finding love. Maaya’s first crush has ended in disaster, and her self-esteem is in tatters. Chigira-kun, the most popular guy in school, overhears and offers a solution. Fall in love with him instead. Maaya is a lovely character, who is shy. She is filled with many doubts about her appearance and abilities. Through her budding relationship with Chigira, he shows her little moments that make her wonderful. In turn she learns more about him, and that maybe he is lonely too. The translation is a bit repetitive in moments, but the story has a nice rhythm. Again, I am not sure the word “stalking” has the correct intended meaning in this story. The art is classic shojo manga, with all the fun expressions and emotions. This is a cute story about noticing someone, and finding the little things that you love about them.

And Yet, You Are So Sweet, true to its name, is a sugary, little shoujo, graced by neat and 'innocent' art. It is cute, but also very cliched and a little cringy.
However, in my opinion, its main flaw is the lack of character depth. Both the main characters are too shallow and one-dimensional, even for the standards of light romances.

And Yet, You Are So Sweet absolutely loves up to it’s name. This is an adorably sweet manga set in school. While this not necessarily a “deep” romance, it accurately portrays the angst of being a teen in the throes of “love”. Additionally, the art style is a perfect fit for this sweet romance. I am so glad I was able to read this ARC and cannot wait to read the next installment!

And Yet, You Are So Sweet is really “sweet”. From the story, characters to art style everything about this manga has *cute* written all over it. Admittedly Maaya is a familiar protagonist for this genre, she is kind, shy and doesn’t value herself highly. After a failed confession she ends up muttering to herself in the school library in front of the very popular Chigira-kun. The first book doesn’t provide too much on his character, but his cool but distant demeanour fits a familiar patten.

Chigira-kun becomes Maaya new unrequited feelings obsession (by his invitation) and the first book follows the two of them as Maaya works through her challenge list while pretending not to fall for him, all-the-while completely oblivious to the fact that he obviously likes her.

While And Yet, You Are So Sweet might be familiar it is sweet and the art work is cute. It’s the kind of story that it just nice to read and the characters are likeable, so you want to know how this story develops.

The story blossoming between the two main MC's are absolutely adorable, and I knew it had to go towards blossoming love! I have always loved these kinds of manga, and this one is definitely one I want to purchase and have on my manga shelf.

The art style is perfect for the story within, and I am desperate for volume 2, and to see how they will grow into a lovely couple!

A real cotton candy type of manga; sugary, sweet, momentary, no substance, no nutritional value. This is a really bottom of the rung romance manga. There is absolutely no depth in the writing; it is a completely surface endeavor. The story basically is, girl gets rejected by boy, hottest boy in school tells her to have a crush on him instead, she does so but now are her feelings real? (I haven't read any other volumes but the answer is yes and the popular boy likes her too). Sometimes you need fluff in your life and this wasn't a bad way to spend an hour of my time but I wouldn't recommend it for purchase for a library with a limited budget or a person who is looking for something substantial.

Such a cute romance! Loved the storyline and I'm so excited to read the next volume!!!! Thank you Netgalley for providing me with this ARC!!!

What can i say ?
Yes, this book was cliché and some scenes were cringy. But that’s exactly why i chose to read it.
Sometimes, you just want an easy, fast-paced, romantic cliche read and this is perfect for those times.
I loved the fake relationship trope, even though the whole “stalker” thing started me off a little bit.
The characters were so cute, and even though the plot was a little messy, i got absorbed and finished the whole thing in less than an hour.

I am excited for the character growth and the relationship development, that means i will definitely read the next books 😊

And Yet, You Are So Sweet is cute, but doesn't really offer anything new. Kisaragi Maaya is 16 years old and her first love confession is a bomb and the guy refuses and is nasty too about it. She decides never to confess her feelings again, but then this by Chigira offers to help her and become her new object for unrequited love. The guy is stoic, but very popular and soon Maaya finds herself falling in lover for real and not just the play pretend. So, basically a cute and wonderful story about a girl getting her heart healed and such. It's just that it happens so very fast, already in this first book. We also get to see a glimpse of the possible third wheel boy and somehow this is very cliched then. Cute, but very cliched. There's nothing wrong with it, if you like your stories like this, but I for one wish time would make them fall in love.

The art is cute, quite simple and fragile even. I do like that the characters have facial expressions though and that Maaya looks quite ordinary. The pace is so fast that it makes me dizzy and we never get to know the characters well enough to care about them, which is a shame. So, a very basic shoujo, not bad, but not that amazing either.

I am always looking for my next shoujo manga read and I think I may have found a new favourite with And Yet, You Are So Sweet. In this manga, Maaya is dealing with a brutal rejection from her crush. When she is muttering to herself about it, she is overheard by the most popular guy in her grade and rather than make fun of her for it, he offers a solution. If she really needs to have a one-sided crush on someone, she can make him her target. In this funny and charming first volume, readers are sure to be taken in by these intriguing characters. I cannot wait to see what fun Maaya and Chigira get up to.

This is a wholesome book (at far as volume one goes) that will not raise any eyebrows should it be purchased for classroom/school libraries or for young readers. And Yet, You Are So Sweet has a simple premise; almost too simple, in fact. The first volume focuses on Maaya, and introduces us to cute boy/plot device extraordinaire: Chigira-kun. After hearing Maaya mutter on about her rejection, Chigira offers himself as the solution for her problems by serving as the target of her unrequited feelings. This is an oversimplified solution, and Maaya goes along with it. Are Maaya's feelings really so easily transferable? Chigira has the personality of damp plaster, whose only charming points are his looks and the fact that he has a little sister, so why is he going along with this? Near the end of the volume Maaya even meets Tezuka, another guy from Chigira's class who seems to rile up jealousy or at least possessiveness in Chigira. I imagine the remaining volumes delve into Chigira's character, or at least I hope so, since I'm not entirely sure what the first volume is setting up. At least it does live up to the "sweet" term in the title. (I received a free ARC of And Yet, You Are So Sweet from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.)

While I do not believe for a second that Maaya's feelings for Chigira are one-sided, that's not enough to make this anything but what it is: a cute, standard little shoujo romance. It's a case of not needing to reinvent the wheel when you're instead just crafting a very solid basic wheel - Maaya and Chigira are your typical sweet shoujo protagonists, there are the usual suspects as far as potential rivals go, and even those uniquely ugly mascot characters that the protagonists think are cute for some reason. This may not be spectacular, but it also isn't anything but nice. That's not damning it with faint praise; it's just a wholehearted assessment of where the charm of this series is likely to lie.

I call this type of story "sugar manga." Very sweet, candied art, very sugary story, as expected from the title and the description.
The only thing that didn't catch me enough was that I got into the rut of sugar clichés very quickly, there wasn't much depth in the character. But in fact, here one cannot want who knows what, one should mainly enjoy them.

This gives me High School Debut vibes but with a different artstyle (plus the leading guy has Justin Bieber hair not my fave but he's still cute). It truly helps people that have unrequited feelings and how they deal with it. I also loved both characters and there were moments that I wanted to screenshot the panels especially the guy moments. Overall, this is a fantastic start to a manga series and I am excited to see what the next volume comes up with. Because of these points, I have to give this manga a 4.5 out of 5 stars

This was quite a cute read, though it was pretty cheesy and rather quickly. The two main characters of this were adorable together and the art style is very beautiful. I'm super excited to see how things go from here. Looking forward to reading the rest of the manga!
