This was a cute manga! The premise surrounds a girl who gets rejected after confessing to a boy she likes. In turn, she focuses her "one-sided love" towards a friend who offers to distract her from the former pain.
It felt like this was a good setup to a series, I feel like if the story develops more I would commit to reading this. Overall, a light and fluffy shoujo/slice of life with potential.
Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely looooved this! What a cute, wholesome, and heartfelt story. I really liked our two protagonists. and I love the concept behind this series. I am very much looking forward to the next volume, and I desperately want more!

I love all the books that Kodansha comics publish and this one is a new fave by Kujira Anan. It's a fresh new style shojo romance manga. The story is about a girl Maaya who confesses to her crush but she got rejected and the said crush starts to say bad things about her which makes her doubt herself and swearing to never have a boyfriend orto confess her feelings and to just stick with one-sided love . But Chigira-kun the most cool and popular boy of their school overheards her muttering to herself all those things and decides to make an odd proposition to our heroine. Will Maaya accept? What is Chigira-kun true intention?
It was sweet as sugar and so cute that makes you smile after finishing it. I liked it and enjoyed my reading time with this short shojo.
And yet you are so sweet is a romance manga about 16 year old Maaya who was rejected by her crush, and popular boy Chigira who decides to help her out. This story is extremely sweet and full of fluffy moments, we see how the two start to fall for each other and as the story progresses I found myself wishing that I was back in school!
Overall it had such a wholesome vibe and is the perfect manga to read when you want something light. I was completely sucked into the story that I finished reading it very fast and did not want it to end.
Absolutely cannot wait for volume 2 and to see where the story goes!

AND YET, YOU ARE SO SWEET is such a sweet and wholesome romantic manga. I really adore these types of mangas.
This one had a KIMI NI TODOKE and SAY, I LOVE YOU vibe – where the main female lead is awkward, unpopular and average, and the main lead is handsome and wildly popular.
Maaya Kisaragi musters up the courage to confess to her crush. Unfortunately, he rejects her and then mocks her on social media. Kisaragi wants to find a new boy to crush on. Chigira is the most sought-out boy in school.. He overhears Kisaragi’s woes and empathizes with her. Chigira proposes that she obsess/stalk about him.
I like that Chigira sees the real Kisaragi. He does not seem interested in a person’s outer appearance but to the person within.
I plan on buying a hardcopy to add to my growing manga collection! I cannot wait for Volume 2.
I thought this was a super cute series that I think will fit in well to my library's manga collection.
Maaya has been striking out in the romance department; while doing work at her school's library, she vocally complains about her situation which her schoolmate, popular and handsome, Chigira overhears. Instead of teasing her about it, Chigira suggests that she get over her heartbreak by having a one-sided crush on him.
As Maaya's feelings for Chigira grows, she begins to realize that she may actually love him. What does Chigira feel for Maaya, and is there a chance for them to develop together?
This is the cutest little manga!
The story goes a little fast, but the characters are so sweet and loveable that they got me hooked in at once.
Adorable so far!
I just want to know how Maaya's story continues now!
5 out of 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for giving me the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
There is a full length review forthcoming on my site, MangaLibrarian.com and on my YouTube Channel! I go in depth on my analysis there.
This was utterly adorable and I know exactly who I want to recommend it to immediately.
This is exactly the kind of sugary goodness I need in my life right now.
The best kind of fluff.
Thank you to Net Galley for a copy of this to review!!
This book was sooo swoon worthy! I love how we as an audience can see the feelings that are reciprocated by Chigiria that Maaya doesn’t quite see yet. I love how innocent the story was, the cute little moments where the two made their own “things” such as a pinky swear turning into a hand hold for promises. I like that there was small angst about jealously over other people but not anxiety provoking levels of angst. I am excited to continue this series and see where it goes! High recommend for Rom com lovers!
Adorable doesn't even begin to describe this manga. Unrequited pretend feelings turned real feelings? Sign me up! This had just the right amount of character development to keep me coming back for more. Maaya is such a dorky and lovable character that you can't help but get butterflies every time she does. Not to mention, it seems like there will eventually be a triangle (whether it's wanted or not). I recommend this to anyone looking for a light and fast read.
I love romance manga, I love to see how the characters fall in love.
and this is obviously the exception, I already want to see them happy together
A super sweet love story about a girl who gets rejected and the boy who has been harboring a secret crush on her. After Maaya is rejected by her latest crush she vows to never confess her feelings again, and to her surprised the most popular guy in her grade Chigira overhears this and proposes that she have a one sided love for him. Throughout the story it follows them as they fall for each other (though it is very apparent that Chigira has a crush on Maaya). Just the sweetest and cutest manga ever I can’t wait to read volume 2!
*Thanks Netgalley and Kodansha for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
