It's been years since an author's writing style has grated on me as much as Margaret de Rohan's in The Icarus Affair. The start of the novel left me wondering if she was aware that anyone would be reading her words as there was no context given. The reader was left in a fog. (This reader!) Throughout the novel there is detailed history on various Paris streets and places, and it often was unnecessary or interrupted the storyline. Finally, the writing seemed uppity to me.
That said, I would be interested in a novel about the Paris attacks in November, 2015.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC.
