A light yet enjoyable read for anyone who wants to detach for a bit and set foot into another world unlike their own. Shari Low sets a scene you feel you know intimately.
'At sunrise, from the moment you first see the tip of the Sun until it appears completely full, it takes 2 minutes' โ๏ธ
I loved this book, it was captivating, very well written & you could quite imagine this panning out as a soap opera episode or indeed real life events. If you like the film ๐๐ค๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐ช๐๐ก๐ก๐ฎ you'll love this book, told from multiple POV, it was set using the same format as the film with multiple events happening to multiple characters within a 24 hour time frame, who eventually all tie together.
This was a lighthearted, drama filled summer read & I was sad to see it finish.
Scott & Kelly are waving off their daughter as she leaves home, whilst octogenarian Harriet isn't looking forward to going home alone after her stay in hospital & Maisie has just been jilted at the altar...
Many thanks to Netgalley for my ARC in return for my honest review.

Each chapter is this book is told from the point of view of 4 main characters. Maisie returns to the place where only 2 months previously she was jilted to help her friend to cater at a party. We also meet Kelly and Scott who have been married for 22 years but Scott wants to leave and Kelly has just discovered she's pregnant. And then Harriet who is in hospital following a hip operation. Over the course of one day their stories unfold and come together. With a lovely and sometimes funny cast of characters this book is an ideal book to lose yourself in. A fab book for summer days on the beach.
Many thanks to Netgalley and publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are my own
Thank you for this advance copy, what can i say i loved this book, I devoured it in one day. I loved the different characters the way they all interacted and related to each other and the different stories running parallel. Without giving any of the plot away the intertwined love stories developed over the book and ended perfectly. I was especially pleased for Harriet and her outcome. ๐
Today, Maisie McTeer decides to track down the ex who jilted her at the altar. Today, sheโll find out that revisiting the past can also rewrite her future. After losing her husband, Harriet Bassett can no longer bear her lonely life. Today, a familiar face in a crowd will spark a quest to discover if thereโs something and someone worth living for. Scott and Kelly Bassettโs daughter is leaving home. Today, Scott plans to tell Kelly that heโs ending their marriage to pursue his rock and roll dreams. However, Kelly, has a bombshell of her own. How will Scott react to the news that a new arrival is on the way to fill their empty nest? Between sunrise and sunset, thereโs love, heartbreak, laughter and tears, but who will find happiness at the end of the day?
I absolutely loved my time reading this. The whole book is delightful from start to finish and just incredibly enjoyable. Low sets this on one day and we follow the characters during this life-changing day. Of course there are flashbacks and references to a lifetime of events from different days but the main plot is set on one fateful day. There is a lot happening in this plot and it is very fast-paced, I for one was addicted and could not tear myself away from it. This was one of those reads that I just instantly connected with.
Low's characters are fantastic too, they are all very realistic and likeable. We get to read chapters from the perspective of all of our main characters which really helped me get an understanding of them and who they are as people. It also meant I cared a lot more about what happened to them, and boy does a lot happen to them! This has laughter, tears, despair, joy and everything in between.
'One Summer Sunrise' is the perfect read this summer for fans of romance and family dramas. Low's characters are exquisite and the plot is incredibly entertaining.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an advance copy.
Aw what a lovely book! I really enjoyed this story, it was a fun summery feel-good read.
The story takes place on one day, and is told from the point of view of 4 characters - Maisie, Kelly, Harriet and Scott. A garden party is being held in the grounds of a local stately home, and we see how the lives of these 4 characters, along with numerous of their friends and family, intertwine. I really liked the different age range of the characters, it was nice to read about the octogenarian Harriet alongside the twenty something Maisie.
It was the first book I'd read by this author, but it definitely won't be the last!
I received an advance copy of, One Summer Sunrise, by Shari Low. This book seemed like it would be great, but it was not. I did not like the characters, or the swearing.
This book is set in a one day music festival and follows a group of friends and family throughout the day. Each protagonist gets to tell the story from their own perspective and it is a really easy and genuinely enjoyable read because of that. Their character traits flaws, humour and love lives are both recognisable and relatable. A really great book and a perfect summer read!
*Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an early look at this book in exchange for an honest review***
This book follows a group of people through an eventful summer day for all of them. They are related by either blood or circumstance and none of their lives will ever be the same. This is a very lighthearted story and the characters were very relatable. It was told from multiple points of view but was very well organized and confusion was avoided. I loved the snarky banter and the inclusion of loveable characters from 20 to 80. You will remember these folks long after the last page. Publishes June 3, 2021.
Set over the course of a day, One Summer Sunrise follows the lives, loves, and lies of a bunch of people in Glasgow who all meet at a charity music event. The character traits of the cast are ones that we all come across in real life, so whilst this is enjoyable as fiction, it's still believable.
Just like the One Day in Winter/One Day in Summer books, it can be a little overwhelming to read about so many characters to start with, but by 10% in, you've worked out who is who. There's always the added bonus of characters from previous books turning up too.
I love Shari's style of writing. Her words are easy and enjoyable to follow and I really enjoyed the ending for Harriet and Maisie.
I read this as an ARC on NetGalley thanks to Shari Low and Boldwood Books

I enjoyed this lighthearted, humorous story that focuses on love for all ages.
This book covers one day in the summer and follows the life changing events of four characters. Maisie McTeer, who was recently left at the altar and is trying to get over her heartache. Harriet Bassett, a very lonely 80 year old woman, about to get released from the hospital only to go home to an empty house and hours of loneliness. Scott and Kelly Bassett, who are about to watch their only child leave home and they are preparing themselves for life as empty nesters.
This book reminded me of the movie, Love Actually, a movie anthology, with several stories happening all at once, on the same day. The stories, at first, seem to be separate stories involving people who are not related, then at the end, you can see the intertwining relationships.
There was a lot of drama all happening on one day! But, it was also humorous and lighthearted in between all the heavy stuff. And I likes that this book examines multi-generational love, meaning that this book includes young love, middle age love, and older love.
The book was a bit difficult to get into at the beginning, but itโs so worth it once you get past the slow beginning. The book is emotional, humorous, uplifting and angsty, a nice satisfying read.
I recommend this book for anyone looking for a fun, lighthearted but emotional book.
