This graphic novel was... something. I'm not a fan of pranks and bullying so it was a little tough to get through this book. I also felt like the mental illness rep wasn't exactly appropriate. The illustrations weren't my favorite. Maybe it will look better in color. I'm sure many will enjoy Witch For Hire and find it relatable. It would be a good 'spooky season' read.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review Witch For Hire.

Thanks to ABRAMS Kids & NetGalley for the early copy in exchange for an honest review.

"Witch for Hire" follows a girl befriending a jaded teen witch and convincing the witch of the good in people.

I adored the art style, it was dynamic and stylistic! The character designs were all unique and diverse and enjoyable to see.

The bullying hits close to home but it felt realistic and not too outlandish. Faye is justifably jaded but she develops as the story progresses. I really liked Faye's development and would love to see more of her in the future.

A great gothic/witch/mystery graphic novel!

I only just read the Crumin books in the last few months and really enjoyed them so I was glad to get access to an ARC of this book! I generally read ARCs in publication date order but I couldn’t resist just sitting down and reading this one the same day I got access.
The author really gets the teen angst thing. The magic is really just decorative to the actual plot of teen bullies in this case but makes a potentially painful plot line more palatable. I would have adored this author’s graphic novels as a teen. They are still a very enjoyable read as an adult!
