“Some people in life, Sue, are weather forecasters, whereas other people are the weather itself.” Richard Osman

My favourite group of septuagenarians are back with another murder to solve! I loved @misterosman first book The Thursday Murder Club, where we first meet this cast of sleuths who get away with a whole host of things mostly because people underestimate the skill and investigative abilities of these cute old people 👵🏻👵🏼👴🏻👨🏽🦳.

In fact, I think I love this second book more than the first! You’ve got ex husbands, MI5, and the mafia- and these pals outwit them all!

Each page is entertaining and the dialogue between the characters made me laugh out loud throughout! If you’re feeling the January blues, this is the book you need! 4.5/5 ⭐️
Thank you to @netgalley @vikingbooksuk for my copy of the book

I enjoyed this book, it really is light-hearted fun and its great to be back at the Coopers Chase retirement village again. Not a heavy read, but a light comic caper with characters that you can't help but love

I didn't care too much for the first book in this series, 'The Thursday Murder Club', parts of it felt just too twee for me. The characters were still fun though, specially Red Ron, and I picked this up hoping to see more of him. This book, however, Osman has hugely improved on the first one, and this one is absolutely excellent.
Someone from Elizabeth's past has turned up, and needs her help. It ends up involving murder, gangs and diamonds-can ELizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron figure it all out, and help PC Donna Defreitas and her boss CHris Hudson with a drug dealer in the bargain? I found 'Thursday Murder Club' very well-plotted, but a little thin on the characters. THis book has a fascinating plot, and also wonderfully developed characters. It manages to be a gripping cosy mystery, but also deeply moving on loss, ageing and family. I thought the last book sent up "Red" Ron a bit too much-a former trade union leader, when trade union leaders actually were very brave, and advocating for better conditions for workers. This book treats him with a lot more nuance and respect for his views, and gives him a lot more to do-I particularly loved a great chapter where he has a chat with DCI Hudson on the distinctions between illegality and wrong. Excellent writing. I wasn't too happy with a track involving the framing of a local hoodlum in Coopers Chase-I think there's already a lot of that done by the police and most are not as kindly and well-meaning as Defreitas and Hudson. That still isn't going to make me dock a star, though, this book was a delightful read.

Oh my goodness ! What a cracker ! Exciting, twisty, convoluted but you never lose track of anything. The characters are relatable, funny and loveable. A thriller with tea and biscuits ! This will be brilliant for reading groups. So much to discuss.

As much as I loved the original Thursday Murder Club, I did not get into this one as easily as the original.
I still love the main characters, but I think it was a case of I just wasn't in the headspace for this at the time. I am definitely going to pick this up again in the future as I really wanted to love this book.

Please note that this book is not for me - I have read the book, However I had to DNF and because i do not like to give negative reviews I will not review this book fully - there is no specific reason for not liking this book. I found it a struggle to read and did not enjoy trying to force myself to read this book.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for the opportunity to read this book

Could not get into this book which was a real shame as I really wanted to as a Richard Osman fan but despite a few goes it just did not grab me. I am sure though that this is just me as I know how popular his writing is but not for me I am afraid.

A cosy book, perfect for an easy read. The follow up to The Thursday Murder Club, Not really my type of book, but I enjoyed it all the same.

It was such a joy to be reaquainted with these wonderful characters again! I really enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club and it was such a delight to read the second novel by Richard Osman.
I think I enjoyed this book even more than the first, as we were given the drama straight away with not as much character building. Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim & Ron are back with yet another quest that involves murder, the mafia and a £20 million bag of diamonds! Yes, this is a murder mystery but it is also so funny, I loved the little comedy refrences and was also delighted to find that Joyce's Instagram account is actually a real thing (well worth a follow if you have read the book!)
I love trying to guess the ending of these sorts of books, but once again I had no idea how this was going to end and it was a real treat of a book from start to finish!

I adored the first book in this series, and I was obviously delighted when Osman released another one! This one did not disappoint and dare I say it, but I actually found this one even more exciting than the last! Osman really carries the thread of mystery so carefully, and his characters only make reading this even more pleasurable!

The Man Who Died Twice is the 2nd book in the cosy murder series by “celebrity” author Richard Osman and if you haven’t read book 1 – The Thursday Murder Club then STOP RIGHT NOW, go and buy the book, read it and then come back.
If you have read book 1, then you can continue to read my review. The second book The Man Who Died Twice is basically set the following Thursday after book 1 and once again those four wonderful septuagenarians are faced with a murder, the mob and £20million pounds worth of missing diamonds. Who said retirement was boring?
Book 2 concentrates more on Elizabeth and her shady past as former M15 operative and when her ex-husband turns up at Cooper’s Chase Retirement Village looking for help, Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron soon find themselves knee deep in dead bodies.
If you enjoyed book 1 – then you are in for a treat as the sequel has more of the same; mayhem, murders, mafia and maturing amateur detectives.
It was wonderful to meet up again with these characters and find out more about them individually. From Joyce’s wonderful diary entries to Ron’s relationship with his grandson, Ibrahim’s struggle with being viciously attacked and Elizabeth’s gentle and caring intimacy with her husband and his ongoing dementia struggles.
This, to me, is more than just a cozy murder mystery. It’s a wonderful celebration of life, love and friendship and never growing old gracefully.

I loved this book. I was surprised to find Richard's writing style so engaging and heart warming. He certainly continues it in this second visit to our elderly sleuths. The characters are wonderful and you are immediately on their side and hoping all goes well.
The era/British Life references are wonderful and make you smile constantly. I would wholeheartedly recommend both books in this series. I ant wait until part 3 come out in the Autumn this year

Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy this book. I found it a tad silly and just couldn’t get into it. I think this series just isn’t for me

I was given a copy of The Man who died twice by Richard Osman by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in the series.
In this book the Thursday Murder Club get mixed up in Elizabeth's ex husband murder. They must find out what really happened.
There was lots going on on this book but it was well written and enjoyable.

After all the hype around the first book, I was intrigued to pick up Osman's sequel to The Thursday Murder Club. For me it didn't disappoint, and if anything I preferred it to the first book. Having already introduced us to the main characters, we have the opportunity to get to know them better and to get wrapped up in a more complex, faster-paced plot, with plenty of bodies and plenty of twists, but with the same level of humour that made the first book so enjoyable. Its an entertaining, thoroughly delightful read and I can't wait for the next in the series.

I have to be brutally honest with all of you here, I enjoyed the first book a lot. I enjoyed it so much I could not wait for thes second installment....
Yes, characters are still amazing and multi-layered, witty as hell and cute and cuddly at the same time. Setting is good - English countryside. The plot is as twisted as the first one, even more so. We do get quite a bit of backstory on all the major characters. And to top it all of, a couple of couples are forming in the midst of mystery and mayhem.
But... something is missing. The narration is a bit dragging, the suspense is a bit slow. The overall feeling is... it is to bad I have something to compare it with.
The Man Who Died Twice is murder mystery on a holiday (that's in short).

It’s hard for a second book to live up to expectations after a successful first novel but this book does exactly that. In fact, if anything, it exceeds expectations. I throughly enjoyed my second outing with four such unlikely characters. The story is well plotted, each character has a chance to shine and no one over shadows another. I am impatiently waiting for the next instalment in this series.

I preferred this to the first one as I felt there was more character building in the sense we found out more about the members of the Thursday Murder Club.
This is one of those murder mystery books which is silly nonsense in the best sense of the phrase. It starts with Elizabeth getting a message from a man whom she buried a number of years earlier, which then leads to a rollercoaster of murders, diamonds, Mafia, MI5 and a mugging for good measure.
It's a fun read and was perfect for Christmas.

Just loved this one. It is great sequel. Maybe this one is better than the first.
This is a 4 stars read.

A great sequel by Richard Osman. The Thursday Murder Club gang are back with more adventures and detective work! Absolutely loved this!
