I loved this even more than the first one! All of our favourite characters are back, and we see them in more depth this time so grow to love them even more..
There are plenty of murders (of course!), quite a few spies, a bit of romance and Joyce joins Instagram. I love Joyce‘s little diary entries - so funny!
Like the first book, it's warm and witty and oh-so clever. If you loved The Thursday Murder Club you *need* to order this now and read it as soon as it‘s published!

Lovely follow-up to his first novel, reading this is the literary equivalent of having a warm bath followed by buttered toast in front of the fire. It’s the Famous Five without the 1950s bigotry, where George, Anne et al. have grown up and Timmy the dog has been replaced by Alan. Delightfully implausible, but still gripping.

I was so excited about receiving this book from NetGalley and I was not disappointed! Absolutely brilliant and, dare I say, even better than the first instalment of the Thursday Murder Club! I just love these books as they’ve got it all - murder, mystery, twists and turns, humour and a bit of a tug on the heartstrings too!
My favourite book at the moment and I cannot wait until the third story! Great work Richard Osman!

I loved The Thursday Murder Club, and I had high expectation for this one - expectations that were exceeded!
The Man Who Died Twice starts the Thursday following the events of the previous book. Elizabeth is contacted by a man from her past, and is brought into a world involving stolen diamonds, multiple murders, MI5, and the mafia. And a surprising amount of drugs. It's a little more high stakes for Joyce, Ron, and Ibrahim, but nothing new to Elizabeth! Of course, Donna and Chris are back too, along with the mysteriously capable and reliable Bogdan (is he secretly everyone's favourite?? Because he might be competing with Joyce for that spot).
The first half of this book was great, but the second half was incredible. It was everything I was hoping for.The wonderful banter and dry humour from our favourite septagenarians continued, just as naturally as before, and familiarity with new characters was built up in a way that wasn't just dumping the information on you. The Man Who Died Twice manages to be both character and plot driven, with neither a detriment to the other.
I'm at a bit of a loss of words for how to praise this book without giving away anything, but I was blown away by the intricacy and sheer cleverness of the story. Everything was deliberate, and I'm dying to re-read it already now that I know what happens.
It's made me want to re-read the first book, which I actually wish I'd done before I read this one - I was far too impatient to start this once I recieved the ARC though!
There's also going to be a third book in this series, and even though this one isn't out yet (publication day is Sept 21st!), I'm really excited about the next.
Thanks to Viking and NetGalley for a free eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman.
I really liked The Thursday Murder Club . I don't like this one , I Love It !
Richard Osman has managed to improve on his first one , no mean feat.
It carries on with the same feisty super sleuthers with Elizabeth at the helm.
We have murders, drug barons , oh and throw in a diamond heist !
It's a lovely , cosy read , complete with humour.
Loved it.

The Man Who Died Twice is the fabulous sequel to The Thursday Murder Club. We are again thrust into the community of amateur sleuths, retired MI5 agents, serving police officers and a Polish handyman…….. yes Elizabeth, the wonderful Joyce, Ibrahim, Ron, Bogdan, Chris and Donna are back - this time in a plot more like a James Bond movie involving the mafia, stolen diamonds, cocaine, hit men and surveillance! Absolutely fantastic book in which Richard Osman has developed the characters so well and has a plot which is fast paced, twists and turns and keeps you guessing until the end. If you enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club, you will love this!

Wow.
The gang are back! If you fell in love with the senior sleuths in book one just as much as I did, you will be head over heels for them after reading book two! #TheManWhoDiedTwice had a lot to live up to after #TheThursdayMurderClub but I can assure you that it does and more.
Osman has created something unique with these books and I believe it is down to his impeccable writing style and loveable characters. It truly is a winning formula.
The balance Osman achieves with the unfolding of a gripping mystery, and light humour that encompasses every line is a great experience. As a reader you thoroughly enjoy every step along the way. I felt bereft after finishing book one, and I feel the same way now. God how I wish these characters were real and I could go and pay them a visit at Coopers Chase!
If you haven’t read these amazing books, I implore you to go and get a copy, get comfy, a nice cup of tea and some biscuits, and enjoy the ride. There is a reason these books are hugely popular, and it is so well-deserved. Take a bow, Richard Osman.

I was sooooo excited to get my hands on this book after falling in love with the characters in the first book.
I read this book in one sitting! I kept thinking one more chapter but couldn’t bare to put it down.
I just love the characters so much and have a giggle to myself at some of the things they think and say. Joyce has to be my favourite!
I just hope if I ever end up in a retirement home in the future it’s alongside great characters like those in the book. Definitely a five stars for Richard Osman from me. Can’t wait for book 3!

I loved the Thursday Murder Club and this is one of my top new books in 2021.
I had high expectations and I'm happy I wasn't disappointed as this is a page turner.
This book is even better, fast paced and full of action. The tone is sometimes darker and we learn about Elizabeth's past and her work in MI5.
There's plenty going on, a lot of fun and some poignant moments.
I was happy to catch with the group of seniors (I want to be like them when I get old), Joyce is my favorite character but I love them all.
There's plenty of twists and turns, you never know who can be trusted outside the Murder Club.
I assume there will be another book, this one is strongly recommended.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Thank you so much for letting me preview this book. It's brilliant, even better than the first one. I love the characters, they are so detailed, you really feel you know them all. The plot is excellent, as is the way the character's lives change throughout the story. I look forward to the next one.

Thank you to Penguin UK for this eARC of the second book in the Thursday Murder Club; "The Man Who Died Twice" by the lovely Richard Osman. This review is purely my own opinion. I have read the first book in this series.
I've grown up with Richard Osman, mainly due to Pointless and when I found out he was writing books I was so excited. However, I didn't enjoy the first installment as much as I would have preferred. This book redeemed it for me.
Overall, I preferred this book in the series. Like the first book, it was also very slow paced but it works with Osman's style of writing. Again, Joyce is her usual self and her dialogue is very enjoyable. The plot twists were unexpected and I really liked reading this. Osman left this ending on a mini cliffhanger, prepping for Book 3. I am very excited to get my hands on Book 3 whenever it comes out.

What euphoria I felt when I got an email from netgalley saying I'd been approved for an eARC of the second installment of The Thursday Murder Club, The Man Who Died Twice, by Richard Osman!
I devoured the first book back in February and immediately fell in love with everyones four favourite septuagenarian sleuths and it was a delight to join them once again in Coopers Chase. My only critique of the original book was that there seemed to be half a dozen too many characters and plot threads to keep track of. This time around, despite a still massive cast, I felt I had a much better grip of the 'whose who' and the story flowed so much better for it.
The pace is much quicker than before and the plot is original, multilayed and complex but engaging and easy to follow. The gang are still as eccentric and wonderful as ever, you expect them to take you on a wild ride and they don't disappoint. I love that we get to learn about the amazing and mysterious Elizabeth, it makes all the crazy capers from book one seem much more believable. I was glad to once again note the addition of Joyce's diary entries, my favourite part of both books. Joyce is both incredibly perceptive and wonderfully naive (I cannot stop laughing at her foray into the world of social media) at the same time. She is everything I want to be when I reach retirement age!
While the book is hilariously funny, often moving and sometimes even dark, there is also a real poignancy in Osman's writing, it's a thoughtful and intelligent look at old age, life and death. You can tell Osman loved writing these books, clearly pouring his heart and soul into the characters, and they're both so much better because of it.
If you loved The Thursday Murder Club, then The Man Who Died Twice will not disappoint. If you didn't, what is wrong with you?
A humongous thank you to Netgalley and Peguin UK for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review

I was worried that this novel couldn't possibly be as good as The Thursday Murder Club but it is even better. The Man Who Died Twice has a more complex plot and the writing is more polished. In this novel our favourite eccentric pensioners are investigating a crime involving spies, gangsters, drugs and stolen diamonds. Many of the characters from the first novel are back and we find out more about them. I love these characters so much that it is impossible to choose a favourite. One of the Thursday Murder Club is the victim of a crime and it was genuinely upsetting to read about because I have come to care for these characters so much. This novel is also very funny and I did find myself giggling on the bus as I read it on my commute!

Brilliant! I enjoyed this one even more than the first! Likeable, quirky characters, interesting plot and some lovely humour. Highly recommend!

No dreaded ‘sequel curse’ here-this is an excellent follow up to Richard Osman’s stellar Thursday Murder Club. Funny, exciting and moving, with some excellent new characters. A must read.

Having read Richard Osman’s first book, I couldn’t wait to read his second. I know the books have had received mixed opinions, but I loved the first one. The characters were awesome and I just wanted to go and live with them all, loved their quirky ways. So when I was given book 2 as a review copy I was over the moon. Book 2 is, in my opinion, even better than book 1. Same wonderful characters, better, more developed plot. I found it funny, heart warming and a little unbeilable, but I actually don’t think that mattered. Such an entertaining read. Thank you to Netgalley for the pre release copy. I will be recommending this to my reader friends.

A huge welcome to the sequel of the Thursday Murder Club following more exploits with the 4 main characters taking centre stage again.
A funny and smart follow up which kept me guessing to the very end of the book.
I loved this..... Even better than the first book.... Which I didn't think possible.
Fantastic read which I would highly recommend.

They’re back ! The Thursday murder club is once more on the hunt for a murderer. Elizabeth gets a letter from a former colleague who needs her help, only he gets himself killed and suddenly there’s a hunt for diamonds, a murderer, a drug dealer and so much more. All the usual characters are there and some new ones. Suffice to say this is a fabulous read. The story is definitely more intricate than the first novel but is equally enthralling, laugh out loud and deeply enjoyable.
Richard Osman has definitely introduced us to a new crew that we need regular updates on. Looking forward to the next instalment.

I was so, so delighted to be approved for this! Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club kept me going during a bleak year, and this sequel is EVEN BETTER!!! I never want to leave Joyce’s company, really! Sign me up to this retirement village! I love the warmth, the humour, the characters. Cosy crime with a dash of darkness, just like Caimh McDonnell. I am looking forward to the third one already!

Whoa, Richard Osman has certainly moved up a gear in this second instalment of The Thursday Murder Club Series. With twenty-million pounds-worth of diamonds at stake, anything could happen and it does. Messier murders, the security services, international criminals and drug barons, the mafia and any number of suspects and red herrings. As before, Elizabeth is at the heart of solving the mystery but she wouldn’t manage without her three neighbours, each with their own special contributions, even if that’s just seeming to be a harmless old lady while actually being solid steel.
I like the way the exciting events take place alongside quiet, domestic contentment. I could hardly put the book down for the thrills and suspense, yet at its heart is kindness, and the touching importance of love and friendship to a group of retired but certainly not-dead-yet inmates of a retirement village. It’s all highly improbable and very enjoyable. If you liked the first book (I did) you’ll like this one even more. Critics who are sniffy about Osman’s sudden, wild success are just suffering from sour grapes, IMO.
I read this thanks to NetGalley and it will be published on 16th September this year.
