This was more of a 2.5 rating for me, and I think it could have some potential in further volumes. Unfortunately there wasn't really much happening in this title, and I didn't have any strong feelings towards any of the characters. I am curious to see where this series goes, especially since the author hinted at a darker theme for volume 2.

This plot was oddly right up my alley. I quite liked the two main characters and their relationship; the pining is REAL in this one. The art-style is also hella cute in this one. Honestly, this review just boils down to my random bursts of needing vampire content, but hey, this one really provided. I am very intimidated by the first page though... and the ending only scared me more. I look forward to future volumes

In a world where there are people with special blood known as “honey bloods” and vampires, Kagari Tojyo is trying to survive along with her bodyguard/ vampire, Ryotaro. Kagari and Ryotaro are in a relationship that requires Kagari to give Ryotaro blood, and the line between duties and feelings are blurred. Soon school shenanigans start and both of them have to adjust to their feelings for one another while navigating the world of vampires and politics. This is the first book in the series and I am curious where the story continues!~

*Thanks Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*

I think this is another case of "turn off your brain and you'll enjoy it more" (actual rating of 2.5*). The world is interesting, vampires live together with humans and there's things for both, even sweets adapted with blood stuff so the vampires can enjoy them, which was a nice touch.

Besides that detail, the setting isn't very uncommon: we have the school princess, the bodyguard (which I admit I enjoy lol bodyguard romances are the best), the prince-love-rival, minor characters who are friends with the heroine etc etc.

Everyone wants the heroine because of her special blood, her bodyguard is also her childhood friend and love interest, and their relationship is so unhealthy I actually liked it lol. Ryotaro's obsessed with her and likes having her isolated to himself, while Kagari is very spoiled and selfish and doesn't want him paying attention to anyone else. I can see why others wouldn't like either character, or their relationship, but it was a nice change from the usual shoujo romance, I think.

There's a focus on comedy this volume, but a note by the end warns us the author plans on getting more ~emotional and darker, which I'm actually excited for, because the comedy in this feels very early-2000s, with harassment being used as a joke, sadly. The art varies a lot, in some pages it's nice, then the proportions get all a bit off, but not enough to distract from the plot and all.

Despite the cliffhanger not being The most original, I'm curious to see where this is going, and if the promise from the first page - of the vampire devouring and killing his human master - will go anywhere for real.

This was such a great introduction to this series and story line. I originally thought it was going to be a lighter story but there are a few darker instances within volume one. I am very intrigued by this manga and read it within an hour! Absolutely loved this and can't wait for volume 2!

I would like to say that this manga is extremely interesting but truthfully there isn't much to go on as the premise of the manga is Special blood human who is protected by government and normal humans who aren't but they are all interacting with the vampires in society.

I am hoping as the manga continues that there will be more plot , which I think there will be based on how the first volume ends. So I will be keeping my eyes out for the next volume to see how it progress from the ending of the first volume.
