Sophie Cousens' This Time Next Year was one of my favourite books of 2020. So I could not wait to read Sophie's next book. And as soon as I heard the premise, I had a feeling that Just Haven't Met You Yet could be another hit for Sophie and it definitely is.
I was expecting big things from Just Haven't Met You Yet and I am so happy to say, that even if it didn't feel quite as special as Minnie and Quinn's story told via flashbacks and the current day, it was a brilliant story and rom-com. And it's another one that I could easily see being made into a movie.
Much like with This Time Next Year, the world in which Sophie has created feels so realistic because of how richly developed each of the characters is, along with their relationships with one another.
I loved the setting, as well as the escapist vibes that it gave me (Laura was living a completely new life outwith her usual comfort zone and to see how her world expanded made me smile and root for her). I also liked the fact that we had several storylines going on at once (Laura is learning her parents love story might not quite be what she was led to believe it is, she's searching for 'Suitcase Man', working on articles/content for work and reconnecting with family that she's never met). All whilst being driven around the island by her taxi driver/tour guide Ted.
I also liked the Tiger Woman passages interspersed throughout, as well as how everything was resolved in the end.
I liked that she didn't go for the 'perfect' man/fairytale ending that she had conjured up in her head for years and years. That and the fact that 'the one' that she had been waiting on meeting her whole life wasn't who or what she was initially expecting.
This is feel good rom com in the very best way and had me eager to keep reading, even if I did have a feeling who she would end up with in the end.
It has me even more excited to see what Sophie does next. And I now know that going forward I will read anything that Sophie writes without hesitation - she's quickly become a go-to author for me.

Oh, I really loved this. A rom-com with a touch of drama, travel guide, and escapism all rolled up together.

I won't bother repeating the blurb since the publishers do a much better job! Suffice to say that this is a feel-good, romantic travelogue that rewards the reader with an emotionally satisfying experience. Ted and Laura's romance is totally realistic and credible and that's what makes the entire book so good. There is nothing outrageously unbelievable in this story. Even the coincidences are acceptable credible. WE know Laura is going to finally confront reality and realise what's important.

Great premise and beautifully executed.

I started and read this book in one day. I totally got lost in it and I couldn’t put it down without finding out Laura’s destiny. I now have to add Jersey to my list of holiday destinations. A perfect read.

What a lovely story! Laura is a hopeless romantic, always looking for the elusive "one" but never quite finding him. This is all because of her mum's story of how she met Laura's father.  In fact Laura always wears a coin necklace that comes apart which shows how her parents hearts were linked together.

Laura manages to persuade her boss Suki that she should travel to Jersey to retrace the story for the website she works for, and surprisingly she agrees. So off to Jersey she goes.  As what appears to be normal for Laura, nothing about the trip really goes to plan and the "one" she was looking for was not who or where she expected.

Laura is a quirky lovable character and there are a lot of laughs throughout the book and on more than one occasion I literally laughed out loud.  A very well written story where I could picture every character. This would make a great rom com film!

I loved her first book so much, but I really didn't expect her to follow up with something just as good. I was nervous about getting an advanced copy of this and not being able to give it the same rave review as the first one. I'm so satisfied with this book. It is heartwarming, funny and original. I love how Cousens incorporates strong friendships and sense of family in her stories. I also love that she adds a lot of depth and texture. It's not just a fly away contemporary romance, it's a solid read with a lot of heart and full bodied characters.
I can say so much about this beautiful book, most importantly, I highly recommend it.

Laura makes a living from talking to others about their romance and how they met. She has her own story to tell, well not hers really but that of her parents so when her boss finds out about it she is sent to Jersey to find out more. There she discovers she has picked up the wrong suitcase at the airport and when she opens it she thinks she has found the man of her dreams. Not literally of course, that would be more of a nightmare to open a case and find a man's body inside! But he's reading her favourite book, listening to her favourite music, surely they are fated to meet and fall in love?

Romance is not my favourite genre but occasionally you come across an author who makes you have faith again. This is a charming read. It's full of humour and the characters are all well formed. No one is perfect, no one is a complete creep. It's all more complicated than that. I'd love to read this book again when on holiday in Jersey and maybe one day I will. I really enjoyed this! It was warm and smart and a read to really fly through. Who hasn't convinced themselves that THE ONE will match every random whim we've decided we like. Thoroughly recommended.

Really liked this easy to read romance story. Delving back into the past generation Laura discovers differences from what she has been told.whilst finding the love of her life. Set in Jersey added to the enjoyment as I have been there.

I had the pleasure of reviewing "This Time Last Year" a wee while ago and I fell head over heels for it. This book was no different. Sweet, funny, charming, and full of emotion it was the perfect read.

I spent time laughing out loud and quietly crying into my cup of tea over this story of love, family and what's important. The setting was amazing, I love a book where I also get to explore a new place through the pages, I honestly can't fault it.

The characters were interesting and the back stories useful for understanding the present. I loved the breaking up of the chapters with the letters and snippets from "Tiger Woman". I loved every character in their own little way. This book filled me with hope for the world, happiness and an appreciation for those close to me. I can't wait to see what Sophie comes out with next.

Perfect for those who are a fan of Lindsey Kelk.

This Time Next Year was my favourite book last year, so when I was given the chance to read Just Haven't Met You Yet thanks to Netgalley and the publishers.

I was expecting good things and I wasn't disappointed.

All the feels is what you get in this novel.

I was smiling, I was laughing but I was also sad and sympathetic towards the characters too.

This is the definition of a 'meet cute'.

A sweet and comedic romance with a cast of quirky, likeable characters.

There is literally nothing but love bursting from the pages of this story. From the love of family, the tenderness of friendship and the adoration of memories made.

What I observed as I read was a real sense of hope and determination. A belief that love is there for the taking, we just need to be patient because as Laura finds out, it can be discovered when we least expect it.
