I really enjoyed this book. Adam and Amelia are spending a weekend in the Scottish Highlands in an attempt to sort out their marital problems. They arrive at the remote converted chapel in a snow storm. Then strange things start happening and it's clear that the couple are each keeping secrets. And who is the strange woman called Robin who becomes a third narrator?
This is a great story with some good twists.
Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.

Another cracker of a book from Alice Feeney. I’ve enjoyed all her books so far but this is the creepiest yet. I’m a sucker for anything set in Scotland and the location of the remote highlands was really used to great effect. The descriptions of the landscape and the location were brilliant and helped create the perfect atmosphere of isolation and intensity. The story is told in alternative chapters between Adam and Amelia both unreliable witnesses, both with their faults and perfectly unlikeable, as the story gradually unravels its sinister side.

‘If every story had a happy ending then we’d have no reason to start again.’

My first Alice Feeney and WOW! I can now tell why people rave about her writing and I will most certainly be looking out for her other books!!

Ten years of marriage.
Ten years of secrets.
An anniversary they’ll never forget.
Adam and Amelia are spending the weekend in the Scottish Highlands. The remote location is perfect for what they have planned.
But when their romantic trip takes a dark turn, they both start to wonder – can they trust the one they’re with?
Because every couple tells little white lies. Only for Adam and Amelia, the truth is far more dangerous.

The fact this has already been picked up by Netflix tells you a lot about the immediate pull of this novel, and having now read it I am VERY intrigued by how this will be accomplished without spoiling anything too soon. I loved the split perspectives in layout of this where chapter by chapter we get the POV of Adam and Amelia and their inner dialogue during this weird weekend away. The setting is perfected eery and also how can I book a weekend away there!?

I don’t wanna say too much more for fear of spoiling, but I’d highly recommend this enjoyable and twisty domestic thriller!! Thank you to HQ Stories and Netgalley for the ARC!!

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

This book centres around Amelia and Adam, a married couple who have gone away for the weekend to a chapel in Scotland. Amelia won the weekend away in a work raffle. She hopes that this weekend away can help repair her relationship with her husband as it seems the marriage has become a little stale for both of them. Adam is a screenwriter and quite a big name in the showbiz world, and he works a lot, and seems to give more of himself to his career than the woman he loves. So, off they go to Scotland with their dog, Bob. But almost as soon as they arrive at the chapel they realise there isn’t anyone else around for miles, they are completely cut off. There is a heavy snow storm, and then strange things start to happen.

This book was a slow burner, but it was excellent. I thought I’d guessed exactly what was going on but I was wrong. There was a big twist in the book that then made everything make sense. The writing was great, and was highly descriptive, giving us a real creepy, atmospheric, gothic type feel to the setting. The characters were well written and I wasn’t particularly keen on any of them, they all had their negative sides, but this also made the book better, and make sense as to why people do the things they do. Another excellent read by this excellent author,

Review copy kindly provided by Netgalley.

Husband and wife Adam and Amelia are having marriage troubles so Amelias answer is to have a weekend away in Scotland with their dog Bob. Right from the start things are far from perfect. They are having to drive through a snow storm to get to the old converted chapel they are staying in, that just so happens to be in the middle of nowhere. The chapel is horror story creepy and there’s so many happenings that gave me the shivers.

Adam has something called prosopagnosia, which means he cannot recognise faces. He’s a screenwriter that has always dreamed of producing his own screenplay Rock Paper Scissors but it’s never worked out for his story.

The story is told from multiple points of view with some letters thrown in from Adams wife that were written to him each anniversary. Slowly we get to know the couple but all the while there’s strange things happening at the chapel.

I couldn’t work out what was going on at all and when things were finally uncovered I was more than shocked.
Rock Paper Scissors is a chilling thriller that will keep you on your toes from start to finish. Five stars.

WOW OH WOW!! Alice Feeney has done it again!! A twisted, dark, psychological thriller defining the term page-turner, which had me hungry to know more as the story unfolded.

Following Adam and Amelia Wright as they head off to a make or break holiday away to Scotland, the reader is drawn in to their messy lives. As the plot transpires things take a turn for the worse, the anticipation builds and the conclusion is as eerie and scary as I had come to expect from this author.

Shady drama and appealing twists and turns throughout, this is a flawless read for any thriller fan. I am so excited to watch the screen adaption of this when it's released. An undisputedly easy five star read that I can not praise enough.

I really like Alice Feeney's style of thriller and this didn't disappoint. A creepy location, terrifying weather, faces at the window, blackouts, and a husband and wife who clearly don't get on.

This kept me reading well past bedtime!

I'm new to this author and so was expecting another police procedural plot like #HisAndHers but this was more domestic thriller with absolutely no police presence. However, in many ways it was still very similar as it too was written in my favourite 'his and hers' style with chapters alternating between husband and wife, Amelia and Adam. There were only a few characters but again none are without flaws and all are totally unreliable narrators bringing several different perspectives to events and meaning that by the end I still didn't know who or what to believe. Or as Adam says: "Not all actresses are on the stage. Some walk among us, masquerading as normal people." Overall another enjoyable and addictive, unpredictable, page-turner from this author.

This book is soooo clever and brilliantly written. Exceptional, to the extent that I could not put it down. Gripping right until the end, of which I have to admit, I did not see coming!

Thoroughly recommend!

My thanks to NetGalley and HQ for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced copy and in return, give an honest review.

An enjoyable read - I look forward to reading more by this author.

This was another mixed bag for me!
I loved His and Hers from Alice Feeney so couldn't wait for this one!
While loving the start and being grabbed with two hands by the fascinating relationship between Amelia and her husband Adam, I definitely felt this one was more of a slow burn for my taste. The relationship intrigued me but the section in the middle didn't engage me as much and I hoped for a few more twists along the way. It was creepy, but not crazy and unputdownable, which I live for!
But.
THAT ENDING! As an avid reader of thrillers, you'd think I would start to work out these epic twists! And this was of epic proportions! Feeney left me totally blind-sided with this one! The rating deserved a star just for the ending alone!

Another brilliant and suspenseful thriller by Alice Feeney! The twists and turns started early and had me hooked from the beginning! The creepy and eerie atmosphere of the setting added to the tension. And the multiple POVs kept the suspense till the very end. You can count on Feeney to use clever misdirection to draw out the story! This was my third book by her and again, I had not seen the revelation coming at all! Blew my mind!

Totally Recommend!

Thank you, author, HQ, and Netgalley for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

This is more than a little unbelievable, but it's one of those books that's so much fun you don't care.

A couple having problems in their relationship go away to a remote cottage. But this is where their problems really begin...

It's got plot holes so big you could drive a truck through them, but it's well written enough that you can simply suspend disbelief and go along for the ride. I must admit that I didn't see the big twist coming and I found this a real page turner.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC without obligation.

Amazing Amazing Amazing! Alice Feeney smashes it out of the bag.. again.

I was gripped from the first page and my interest was maintained throughout.

I loved that the story was told from three peoples perspective, especially the letters from Adam’s ‘wife’.

A clever and twisty read, I already want to re-read this and the authors other books.

A fantastic book which is a must read for any thriller fan.

Thank you to @netgalley and @hqstories for this advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book. Oh my god.
I felt misled and then annoyed I didn't work some things out earlier. You learn so much about the characters in this book but that one key factor is kept hidden until the perfect moment.

Many Thanks to Alice and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book before being published in exchange for an honest review.
The book was a bit slow at the beginning when the characters are developing in front of you. Adam and Amelia.
But you can see that from the moment they are travelling to Scotland to a very isolated church to spend a weekend to fix their marriages, the time they spend together is not going to be as nice and romantic as one would´ve expected.
You can sense from the letters that Alice writes every anniversary to Adam that something is gone completely wrong but it is not until the end that you´ll know what.
The second half of the story is very fast paced, I couldn´t put the book down. Chilling and suspenseful thriller with the perfect setting for a mystery on a very isolated Church in Scotland in a very snowy weekend!
It is a very tense, atmospheric psychological thriller. A web of lies, paranoia, deceit, and a broken relationship that created one big twisty and twisted story. No way did I ever see this coming.
Thank you again for letting me read it.

Wow Alice feeney has done it again! I was gripped from the very beginning and loved the fact that we got the POV of all the characters which added so much depth and layers to the unexpected twist!

The story is fast paced, exciting and completely unlike anything I’ve read before

This is my first book from this author but I will now be searching the back catalogue for more.

A really well written psychological thriller which had me guessing all the way through. I was incorrect so many times when I thought I knew where the plot was going. I didn’t even consider the twist!

Dark and creepy in places which was made even more tense by the remote location and the weather. So well written that I could actually picture the chapel and cottage clearly in my mind.

Amelia wins a mini break in a raffle at work, so along with her husband Adam and their dog Bob, they set off for what they are hoping is a few days away to hopefully sort out their marriage problems.

Once they arrive, after a horrendous snow storm hinders their journey, strange things begin to happen. Initially they can’t get into the property where they are staying. Once inside, they see eyes at the window, there is a power cut, locked doors and many secrets, and not just with the location!

Chapters are written in present day and Anniversary letters (which blended the story well).

That twist though! Didn’t see that at all. Brilliant read which kept me page turning. The only thing I struggled with was stopping reading!

Many thanks to netgalley, the publishers and the author for an arc. Really pleased to discover a new author.

Publication date is 19th August.

Unrealiable and unlikeable narrators are quite a hard fictional trope to develop, but Alice Feeney manages this feat. In this novel, we encounter Adam, a narcissistic and work-obsessed screenwriter who is in on his way from London to Scotland, accompanied by his wife Amelia. The stay in a converted former chapel, a trip that Amelia apparently won in a raffle, is supposed to make or break their ten-year marriage marriage that has come off the rails. But their damp, uncomfortable surroundings in the former chapel only elicit lies, deceit and a growing sense that Amelia and Adam are in fact bitter adversaries, who are not engaged in a game of pure luck, as Rock Paper Scissors might suggest, but who are skilfully plotting against each other.
What can I say – make sure your doors are locked securely if you are reading this thriller late at night! It is an utterly accomplished, twisted and absolutely addictive read!
Having read Alice’s Feeney first thriller a while ago, I could not wait to read this thriller which is at least as good, if not better, than her first. I am very grateful to the publishers and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for this free an unbiased review.

I loved this book! Rock Paper Scissors follows Adam and Amelia in alternating chapters as they go on a mini break for their tenth wedding anniversary. Also interspersed throughout the novel are also letters to Adam from his wife. The couple are clearly not the happiest of couples and when they arrive at their destination it’s clear this is not the cosy escape and chance to reignite their love that each might have hoped. They’re staying in a converted church in the middle of nowhere, it’s snowing and isolated and a bit creepy. It’s clear from the start that something isn’t right but I couldn’t put my finger on what was going on. I had so many things running through my head about what might be happening and I was wrong every single time, which I loved! This book had me hooked from start to finish and I read it all in one sitting as I just couldn’t put it down! This is Alice Feeney at her best and I very much enjoyed this one. If you loved Sometimes I Lie then you’ll adore this!
