This book was so easy for me to fall into and got so lost in how atmospheric it felt for me with not long just coming back from a trip to Scotland myself. I enjoyed following the characters throughout the book and delving deeper into the cracks that had formed in their relationship and wondered what lies ahead for them but I did not expect that! Throughout the book you could feel the tension building and anticipating when things where going to take a turn for the worst but it completely took me by surprise!
Great psychological thriller yet again by Alice Feeney and definitely a must read for this year!!

A great story with so many twists in it, you spend most of the book on tenterhooks as you aren't sure if anyone in this is genuine at all...

Firstly a big thank you to the publishers for my copy to review on netgalley. I have loved her previous books and had seen a lot of praise surrounding this one !

Alice Feeney is one of my all time favourite writers, her novels have captivated me and led me into the wonderful pages of her novels. So when this book came up on NetGalley and I requested a copy, I could not believe it when they let me. I know Who You Are and Sometimes I Lie was absolutely amazing, if you have not read these, then definitely grab yourself a copy and get invested in them.
We follow Amelia and Adam in this novel, they are a married couple with, like many, issues. Adam can not recognise faces, never knew this was a real thing but goodness how awful to live with this issue. Amelia is basically fed up with her life with Adam. They go away to a remote, old chapel in the middle of Scotland during a snowstorm. From the get-go this novel paints a wonderful picture of the snowy, cold scenery and I found myself immersed in the details. The chapel is not what you would call a normal self catering cottage but they decide to stay as the snowstorm is picking up. Lots of things start to mysteriously happen in this novel and lots of questions arise. This is a domestic/thriller which I did enjoy reading. However I found that compared to some of Alice Feeney's other novels, it did take me a while to get fully into the novel and I did find that my mind was wandering. I do prefer her other novels but really glad that I can say that I have now read this book.
Thanks to Alice Feeney, NetGalley and the publishers for a copy of this book in exchange for my review.

Quite a slow paced thriller that picks up in the last part of book. Hated the selfish characters but that's not necessarily a bad thing for this book. Would recommend that you read it.
Thanks to netgalley for my advanced copy

Adam and Amelia despite being married have a rather strange relationship. He suffers from Prosopagnosia which is an inability to recognise faces- even his own so often walks past even his wife. They have taken a weekend away in Scotland to try and repair their marriage but even the journey has been straining. Each year on their anniversary they share gifts relevant to the anniversary according to tradition (paper, linen etc) This is their tenth. Each year Amelia has written Adam a letter- which he never receives- with some truths about their marriage in each one. On arrival at the isolated converted chapel they think it is locked having tried the doors. A quick walk around to see if there is another door and getting back to the main doors find they are wide open- and it's not the wind. Both Adam and Amelia have their secrets and schedule of what is to happen on this break- something they won in a raffle. This is a very cleverly crafted read- even a few pages in and there is a tension you can’t quite put your finger on. Two people, two agendas- some of which may not involve the other certainly keep the pages turning. A mystery and tension- a heady combination skillfully crafted. Oh wow! I won’t give anything away but wowzers!! How very very clever. I thought I knew who, what and maybe why- ok brain try again. An ending that stopped me in my tracks and made me reconsider the whole concept of the book. I’ll say no more. Brilliant doesn’t cover it 5*

Whoa! This is one hell of a punch you in the stomach, all the shivers, eerie as f***, kind of a book!
This novel is to become a Netflix series, I can see this being one hell of a hit!
I absolutely loved ‘Sometimes I Lie’. There’s always something very different about Alice Feeney books that I love. A shock in the twist or an unexpected turn in the reveal.
Reading the opening chapter it revealed so much promise. Set in the beautiful Scottish Highlands, a spooky old chapel with doors that open on their own, dark corridors and stain glass windows. I think the isolated location adds to the tension that envelopes the whole story.
The description of the setting is wonderful and I felt all the senses as I read. A big plus to this authors novels is her beautiful way with words. They really do set emotions high whether it’s a romantic or sinister scene…. I can guarantee this had no romance!
I want to live there! The description of the rooms, conversions and the eerie setting all rolled into one would be my dream home.
You’re instantly thrown into a mysterious story of intriguing events, letter written chapters, the intrigue of what the title means within the story and the slight feel of a cold draft that runs through their relationship. Everything is suspicious and it’s almost like they are oblivious to it.
The central theme of the story is Adam’s condition of face blindness and not being able to recognise faces, this really does give an edge to the story … my imagination was running wild with what it would bring into the story.
I felt unsettled as I was reading, the promise of some dark, possibly murderous surprises and although I didn’t guess the twist I was absolutely bowled over by it.
Adam was an oblivious to what was going on around him, narcissist, Amelia was adorable but deceitful. Together they were a catastrophic thunderstorm!
I think one thing to note as you read this and something you have to have in the back of your mind is that authors use artistic license with their writing. I feel otherwise not remembering that, you’d possibly feel it’s too far fetched. This is fiction though after all.

Adam and Amelia’s marriage is under strain. Each anniversary Amelia writes Adam a letter and they share gifts based on the traditional paper, cotton etc year.
This year they are celebrating their tenth anniversary and win a trip to Scotland. This could be the trip they need to refresh things and lose the secrets in their marriage or will it be the end of everything they have ever known?
A pacy thriller with clever characters, plot and twists. The best of the year so far.

If I had to sum this book up on one word it would be "Twisted"!
A twisted plot with twisted unlikely selfish characters.
The face blindness took me back to my cognitive psychology lecture when I did my Masters!
A tense read with a dark undercurrent throughout!

Wow what a book. It had me hooked from the first chapter. It is one of those books that you cannot put down. It had loads of twists and turns and oh my god i did not see that happening moments!! An absolute must read

A great read with lots of twists and turns. The characters were really well-written and the ending was a great twist. Highly recommended.

Marriage wise, things are not right for Mr & Mrs Wright (Adam & Amelia), so when Amelia wins a weekend away to Scotland, she sees it as the perfect opportunity to make amends with their marriage. However, things are not as they seem and someone else has other ideas for one of the couple. Strange things happen in the converted chapel they are staying at and won’t to leave, but circumstances won’t allow them. Then the dog goes missing. Who or what is behind this?
A great domestic thriller with plenty of gripping twists you don’t see coming. 5 stars to Alice Feeney!

Rock Paper Scissors was a good read, it kept me guessing and I was trying to work out who Robin was and where she fitted into the picture. I guessed wrong and didn't see that end coming which I liked about the book.
My only negative was ending with the PI chapter, that felt a bit ridiculous. Plus I was also left with a feeling that the three main characters were psychopaths and all deserved each other.
Overall a good read and I am interested in reading other stories by Alice Feeney as I'm now intrigued.

Oh gawd. This had my mind blown apart with the twists. A couple on a holiday which would make or break their relationship and the man, Adam, had face blindness.
This was my third book by this author, and I expected it to be a fast read. It started slow slowing gaining once the book crossed a few chapters, then the story had me hooked. There were many subplots interspersed which added to the suspense. I had so many theories of what would happen and the author bowled me over.
The atmosphere was darkly compelling where danger seemed to be round the corner in the shadows. Some scenes were slightly far fetched, but I was willing to overlook that and enjoy the main plotline.
Tension thickened as pages turned. Overall it was captivating with an explosive ending. Wow

This thriller an enjoyable read that’s full of twists and turns to keeps you guessing.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. Like this author and this was a great page turner, great storyline and had me hooked from the beginning.

Rock Paper Scissors is a book I was very excited to read as I’ve loved all of Alice Feeney’s books so far, and it did not disappoint. Full of all sorts of twists and turns, most of which are exacerbated by Adam’s prosopagnosia (inability to recognise faces), this is a suspenseful thriller that keeps you guessing until the final chapters.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author via NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

2.5- This one is quite a slow burn thriller told from alternating points of view. Even though it did take a little while to get into I did still manage to read this in one day which is unusual for me these days. I did feel like the plot was a little erratic at times and like many thrillers was very far fetched. I personally preferred Alice Feeney’s other books but can see that other readers have clearly enjoyed this one.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing an ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have loved and had my mind blown by all of Alice Feeney's previous books. So I had high hopes going into Rock Paper Scissors.
I loved the whole premise of this story. A married couple go off to the middle of nowhere for a make or break holiday. Little hints from both of them that maybe they don't want two people returning home 😮
The fact that Adam has face blindness was a good thread through the story. This just set my detective brain racing and coming up with elaborate theories. At 16% I thought I had cracked the case. Did I get it right? In a very tiny way I did, but I was far off from the whole revelation.
Interspersed within the narrative of Adam and Amelia is that of letters written. Again this got my thriller mind predicting all sorts.
Some stages you don't know if you're dealing with a ghost story or a psychological thriller, but it adds to the atmosphere of the story and the mystery that is being woven through. Adam and Amelia seem to be hiding plenty of secrets and lies.
The only reason this story didn't get the full five stars from me which it definitely would have if it had finished before the final chapter 🙈 my mind was blown and I had my WTAF moment and I was happy. But, then there was one more chapter which I didn't feel needed to be there. But that is just my opinion ☺️
Rock Paper Scissors showcases Feeney's talent of thrills, suspense, mystery and twists. Prepare to get your mind blown once again!!
❤️ Thank you to HQ stories and Netgalley for my gifted digital copy ❤️

Took me a while to get into this book, found it a bit hard going. After about 30% I began to enjoy it but it didn't really 'grab' me unfortunately.
Thank you to Netgalley and HQ Publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
