This twisted take on Puss in Boots features an octopus instead of a cat. The illustrations are cute and the story presents some awkward but funny twists on the old tale. This will have kids cheering for an octopus who learns they love shoes.

What a creative retelling, this was so fun and so funny, such an easy and enjoyable read.
I loved that the octopus was an unwanted gift but then isn’t after all an unwanted gift and that Angus actually becomes close with him. Showing that the truly unexpected gifts can be of benefit.
I really enjoyed this book, the illustrations were amazing, the story was just hilarious and all so unexpected. This is a great book for early readers there is so much to enjoy about it.
The fun story of Puss in Boots twisted with an octopus instead of a cat. I liked how it was in between a picture book and a novel, but gave enough details from the original book to understand.
I have read both Twisted Fairy Tales and I get it but I feel like the author thinks kids aren’t as smart as they are. It took all the whimsy out of fairy tales and made it very slapstick. Not impressed.
Being the youngest child in his family, Angus is often overlooked, until one day he is presented with an unusual gift. “Octo-Puss in Boots” is a fun-filled, twisted fairy tale adventure, leading young Angus down a path of self-discovery, kindness, collaboration, and an unexpected friendship.
Author, Samantha Newman, shines with a well-thought out plot, tale packed with imaginative fun, and creative/detailed illustrations from James Hearne.
I highly recommend “Twisted Fairy Tales: Octo-Puss in Boots” as children will undoubtedly love the twist on the beloved tale and adults will too!
A sincere thank you to NetGalley and Arcturus Publishing for providing me an advance copy (ARC) of this book in exchange for an honest review. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to read this story and leave my review voluntarily.
I loved this retelling! It was funny, and the illustrations were amazing. I definitely think kids will enjoy this!
A genuinely delightful and warm-hearted, imaginatively creative, hilarious, twist on the medieval "Puss In Boots." You've seen nothing till you've seen "Octopus In Boots." In an almost Cinderella-ish twist, the third child of a legendary adventurer-hero receives no bequest, other than a clingy sea-despising Octopus. But blessings come in disguise, and warm friendship and lots of successes are the consequences.
Another great book from this range of stories!
Read with my 5 year old daughter, and she loved it and laughed out loud more than once!
Nice change to the usual books we read - even mummy enjoyed it!
Great illustrations too
I read this with my 5 year old son and he loved it, found it funny in places and said he would definitely want us to read it again (which is always a sign of a book he’s enjoyed)
I also enjoyed the storyline, thought it was funny and the illustrations went well with the story.
Hope there are more twisted fairy tales as I think they will be a winner.
Thanks Netgalley for this advanced copy.
