Review of If My Dad Were The Tooth Fairy by Mark Sperring and Matt Hunt

As a parent I found this book a lovely fun story, nicely written with good illustrations. My six year old loved the book and said it was "awesome". So a big hit all around, five stars

My daughter absolutely loves the tooth fairy visiting. It is literally the most exciting thing! Her tooth fairy is called Rosetta and always leaves a note. She's even built her a little house in the tree at the bottom of our garden!
The idea of 'dad' being the tooth fairy was extremely funny. We read this book as a family and we were all laughing along to the rhyming text and the hilarious pictures of dad dressed up as a hairy fairy with wings and blue spangled tights!Such a brilliant concept!
In the story the little girl thinks her dad should have a more exciting job and this seems at first to be a better alternative (to office work.) When she sees how exhausting the job is and finds her piggy bank raided for spare coins she begins to change her mind.
This is definitely one to buy for our bookshelves. A perfect family read!
We are also waiting in anticipation for 'If my Gran were the Easter Bunny!'

A fun story that had us giggling throughout.

What child doesn't wish their parents had a job that was a bit more exciting? One little girl wonders if her dad might be happier as the tooth fairy. The blue spangled tights and wand would be a huge improvement, but where would he find all the money? And would she miss him at bedtime?

If My Dad Were the Tooth Fairy offers a hilarious look at the pros and cons of the most glittering job around. Dad flies around the house with the washing and chases the dog down to reclaim his wand, but also raids his daughter's piggy bank and comes in looking worse for wear at breakfast time. The illustrations really added to the humour, as well as offering a beautiful colour pallet of blues, purples and pinks.

Our favourite page was the last one though. Because if Dad is considering a new career, maybe Gran should too...

Very droll poem for reading aloud and sharing, where a girl explains what life would be like if her father had the job of going round and doing the ritual swap of baby teeth for pocket money. The right sense of humour for the young ones, fitting and detailed artwork (albeit not really a style I love), and still something within the absurdity for the target audience to identify with – this has a lot going for it. A strong four stars.

What a FAB story book! I can see this exciting, funny and imaginative story book being a popular read for littles ones.

The illustrations give it that humorous vibes from the start. Children will be giggling, laughing and pointing at the daddy tooth fairy in excitement as the child in the story imagines all that their dad would get up to, if he was in actual fact, the tooth fairy.

The book has a lovely, simple rhyming rhythm that is well paced and easy to read. The illustrations work well with the text. They are bright and fun. At the end there are 3 fictional facts about the tooth fairy and a little message from the tooth fairy herself explaining she’s appeared 3 times in the story and had she been spotted by the reader.

This is a definite must have story book for a fun read to enjoy with your little ones. It could also spark some amusing conversations where you would be able to spark their own imagination and find out what they think their daddy would do if he was the “tooth fairy”
