Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy of Rome Is Where The Heart Is. And of course a big thank you to Tilly Tennant for writing this gem.

This was my first Tilly Tennant book and I was very pleasantly taken by Tillys writing. I genuinely felt transported to another world, infact another country. Rome is in my top 5 places I'd like to visit, so I was excited to be taken there whilst reading this book.

The characters were well developed and likeable. You instantly felt sorry for the protagonist Kate at the beginning of the story when she comes home from work early to discover her husband is leaving her. Kate decides that she will take a holiday as her husband never wanted to travel, she picks Rome and bravely travels solo. You really can't help but fall in love with her as you follow her adventures in Rome. Where she meets not one but two men. Kate meets Jamie at the airport and a fab friendship sparks between them. However romance is definitely on the cards when she meets charming and dashing Italian police officer Alessandro....swoon.
Kate has some bumps in the road and still has a lot to overcome but she doesn't just give up on life. There are some serious things Kate has to overcome and deal with too, it's not all about a holiday romance but that just gives the story more depth. I also really enjoyed the complex relationship between Kate and her two sisters.

During these cold, dreary winter nights, I was able to "feel" the sun on my face, "taste" the yummy Italian food and "see" the beautiful scenery.
My main goal and hope when reading is to feel as though I'm living inside the story. It doesn't happen enough, to be able to detach from the here and now but this book just seemed to pick me up and drop me into Kates world. I feel like I'm back from a holiday in Rome, minus the tan ha. I even bought myself a nice bottle of Barolo to drink whilst reading. When in Rome!!!

I'm looking forward to heading back to Italy with the next installment - A Wedding In Italy.

I really enjoyed this book, it reminded me a little of my trip to Rome a few years ago, while also dealing with honest life situations. Also as you can imagine they used the concept of it being in Italy to add an element of Romance. A nice easy and quick read. Thanks for the preview copy NetGalley.

5 Word Review: Family, love, trust, loyalty, Rome.

Take me to Rome, please.

This was a wonderfully summery romance, perfect for cheering you up. I listened to the audiobook and thought it was excellent, and I'd happily read the book again.

Melanie Crawley does an outstanding job narrating the story. Her voice is rich and warm and emotional, and her intonation was perfect. I honestly could think of a better narrator to lend their voice to Kate, and I will definitely be checking out more of the books they have narrated. Like book two, A Wedding in Italy.

Kate's unlucky number is very much 13. Or is it? I felt like Matt leaving her was actually a great thing for her, as she could stop being stifled by him and explore her dreams, and when she brings him down a peg or two towards the end it was excellent - we love to see such character development!

This book had me seriously hungry with all of the gorgeous food mentioned. It's definitely one to read with a bowl of olives and a glass of wine. It felt a bit like an old romance film, where the heroine dashes around doing the touristy stuff and falls in love with a local. I mean, yes, it's cliché. But it's a cliché for a reason and it's so much fun. I had a massive smile on my face most of the time when I was reading this.

I like that this book also explored familial relationships, they can be messy and Rome is Where the Heart is did not shy away from that. I loved the relationships between the sisters, their fierce love for each other and their protective streaks.

This was a beautiful read for summer, when you have to placate your wanderlust, or just need something to fill your heart with love. It was perfect.

DNF review - the accents was awful - the new gay friend accent was ridiculous and made it very hard to listen to. Its taught me to listen to the extracts before requesting!

A real feel good, time-to-change-your-life kind of book. One that would be a lovely read on a beach somewhere if and when we're allowed! I listed to this on audio and really enjoyed the style of the reader and the voice changes to represent each person. Loved the descriptive language, beautiful old-school prose with a touch of romance Shirly Valentine style. Would recommend for anyone looking for a bit of escapism. Enjoyed the reactions of Kate's ex, sister and friends when she finally made the decision to live life for herself. Shows that it's not always good to sit pretty, more fun is hiding on the other side. Looking on the bright side of life, even if your life is turned upside down out of the blue, there's always a silver lining.

Thoroughly enjoyed this audio book as it accompanied me on my walks and runs. Light and breezy - both the story and the narrator. A little ray of sunshine in a book. I have the follow up to this one on my kindle already as I need to know what happens once Kate gets to Rome.

When newly divorced Kate takes a trip to Rome love is the last thing on her mind. On meeting Nate when he saves her from being ripped off by a dodgy taxi driver they form an instant bond and agree to have dinner that night together, Kategets rather drink and thinking she has been abandoned decides to go back to the hotel but falls asleep on the Spanish steps where she is rudely awoken by a local police officer. A good summer read with plenary of laughs and heart.

I did not find I was engaged by this book. I am new to audiobooks so I’m still working out if it was a new way of accessing my reading/ listening but I kept realising I’d got fed up and missed chunks of the story, I got a long way in and then realised I wasn’t really interested and moved on.

After a couple of chapters this story began to sound familiar and I realised I had read (and enjoyed) the book some time ago. This, however, did not stop me from enjoying the story again in audio form - after all, who doesn’t like being read to? I love audiobooks as they can accompany me on dog walks & long car journeys, unlike the paper / ebook version.
A very enjoyable storyline with likeable characters, the descriptions of Rome (and the food) conjured up some wonderful images in my mind as I listened.
The narrator was perfect for this book, a good pace & read well, even her male voices & accents were ok, which is essential in audiobooks as so often a narrator’s poor accents etc can ruin a good story.
Tilly Tennant is one of my favourite authors, she writes in such a relatable, easy to read style. This audiobook is a perfect listen for the summer, whether on the beach, around the pool or staycationing at home.

“…the eternal city – eternally present and eternally busy”

The ink is hardly dry on 30 year old Kate’s divorce papers as she heads to Rome for a bit of a break. She shares a taxi into the city with gorgeous Jamie – it’s ok, though, it turns out he is gay so will not be making any moves on her – and they share dinner together. A hiccup that evening sees her drinking too much and falling asleep on the Spanish Steps, but policeman Alessandro soon assists her back to base.

Having her purse lifted out of her handbag at the Colosseum the next day, a sadly common experience for many tourists, she happens upon this rather sexy policeman once again. This of course is not the last time they meet and she soon finds herself in Alessandro’s company at St Peter’s Basilica and much, much more…. As a dab hand at dress making, she is also invited into the bosom of his family to make a few alterations to his sister’s wedding dress, a vexing situation all round. But being in the heart of a typical Italian family, even eating delicious dishes made of lentils (yes, really, they are yummy!), all begin to sow the seed of a possible life in Rome….

Meanwhile things between her and Jamie get sorted and they soon progress to being good friends. A “phew” development as he proves to be good listener and enabler.

But her sisters are concerned that she is in a vulnerable place, so soon after her marriage break up. Anna in particular shows her concern in an overbearing way, it is done out of love of course, but nevertheless is intrusive and stifling. And there is mum who is as needy as any little child. And, so with a family trauma happening out of the blue, she returns to her family, with a heavy but loyal heart, from her wonderfully romantic sojourn in the Eternal City. Her ex husband isn’t making life easy for her either, trying to inveigle himself back into her life; her confidence dwindling, does she have the courage to leave everything she knows behind her in England to start a new life with someone whom she has only known for a week? Can love conquer all? Enjoy the twists and turns of romantic adventures, as exciting as any ride on the back of Alessandro’s Vespa.

Sunshine, crisp white wine, and a sizzling Italian. Nothing could go wrong with some holiday fun...could it?

When 30-year-old Kate’s childhood sweetheart dumps her without a goodbye, she almost hits rock bottom. But she’s determined to have a fresh start and goes to Italy’s stunning capital city in search of healing. Hot sun, fresh coffee and white marble piazzas; here, Kate might be able to put herself back together. But when a glass (or three) more wine than is strictly necessary leads to questioning by a concerned policeman - a tall, Italian policeman, with wavy, black hair and cheekbones to die for - she knows she’s in trouble.

Kate and Alessandro have a spark so big you couldn’t put it out with a fire extinguisher. But Alessandro has five meddling sisters, a fearsome mama and a very beautiful ex. They’re all certain Kate isn’t the girl for him. Kate knows it’s just a holiday fling. Besides, there’s too much against them. Hoping for more would just mean getting her heart broken again. Wouldn’t it? I was hooked on this audio book and didn’t want it to end!

Thank you to NetGalley, Tilly Tennant and W. F Howes for an ARC in return for an honest review.

Oh my goodness, what an adorable story. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this audio book but within about three chapters I was absolutely in love with all the characters. Even though the plot was predictable, it didn’t make me dislike it. The characters were all likeable and easy to relate to. I really hope there’s a follow up to it as I’d love to know how they get on. An absolutely delightful romantic comedy.

I loved this audiobook a lot! It is about a woman called Kate who went to Rome on holiday after her husband split up with her and while there, she met handsome italian policeman Alessandro, who she fell head over heels for. She also made a new friend for life and obtained a whole new italian family. Torn between her home life in England with her family and living in Italy with her new man and his family, what will she choose? This is a feel good romance, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I listened to it while I was in my garden in the sun, painting my gate, so it was the perfect summer book set in the sun, to accompany me on my quest and it made my painting easier.

The narrator of the book was great and I loved her italian accent.

I loved the book so much that I bought the second book in the series for my kindle, which I will read soon! I will also be on the lookout for more Tilly Tennant books.

Many thanks to Tilly Tennant, the publisher and Net Galley for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This is a lovely, feel good and heart warming read with all the sun and beautiful sights of Rome! I loved exploring the city with Kate as she navigated herself into a new life as she worked on leaving her old one behind. Overcoming a divorce and an upheaval of the way things had been, Kate decides on a spontaneous holiday to Rome and leaves with more than she bargains for…

It was a great little romance read and one that you could immediately immerse yourself into and love going back to. It was entertaining and sweet, especially watching the romance blossom and friendships made during her time in Rome.

I listened to the audiobook which was fab - greatly narrated and it really brought the book to life. I found I was excited to keep going back to it to see what else would unfold! I’d definitely recommend if you’re looking for a nice, happy little read filled with family, love and the beautiful sights of Rome in its pages.

Review of Rome is Where The Heart is by Tilly Tennant - Audiobook
This is the story of Kate who has just had her husband who was her childhood sweetheart walk out on her, calling time on their marriage. Fast forward six months later and Kate is now divorced and feeling very lost. Time for an impromptu holiday to Rome to revive herself. Fun times follow, set in the beautiful surroundings of Rome. Kate meets Alessandro (a police officer) when he finds her passed out on The Spanish Steps. Queue a fun filled story between them.
I really enjoyed this book, a well written nice easy going gentle romance story. This was the audio book which was very well narrated and I felt the narrator voice fitted the story perfectly.

An easy listen with a good narrator this was a nice way to pass the time but it won’t have any lasting impact on me. I don’t know that the plot really needs two books but I will be downloading the second to see how the move to Italy goes.
