This is a powerful, inspiring collection that left me feeling uplifted and energized. This book isn’t just for children; it's for anyone who needs a reminder of the incredible strength, courage, and brilliance that Black girls have shown throughout history. Each story is a celebration of resilience, talent, and the refusal to conform to expectations. The tales of these remarkable women, from scientists to activists, artists to athletes, are filled with emotion and determination, and they shine a much-needed spotlight on figures often overlooked in traditional narratives. The illustrations are equally stunning, beautifully capturing the spirit of each woman. This is the kind of book that makes you believe in the impossible and leaves you inspired to chase your own dreams. It’s not just a bedtime storybook, it’s a call to action. Every young girl (and adult) deserves to hear these stories.
I really enjoyed sharing this book with my kids, we learned about so many phenomenal women and how they changed the world in big and small ways. The illustrations are beautiful, and we liked how a lot of the stories started off sounding like a fairytale as it added to the ‘good night story’ vibe. I would definitely recommend this book. It’s easy to dip in and out of for kids with short attention spans!
Wow this made me emotional. Two underrepresented and marginalised groups and the representation in this book was fantastic. Not only did it have lots of different stories for different people. I know that it will affect people positively in many different ways. I’m really grateful the books like this exist where these stories can be told and people can find themselves in them and the characters.
Black Girl Magic all the way! Thankful for this new addition to the Rebel Girls collection of books. Love the stories of both well-known and lesser known girls to look up to.
This book, along with all the Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls, have given my daughter and me hours of bedtime reading together, and so many wonderful conversations.
The Rebel Girls series is enjoyable to read and very visually appealing. It's great to read about historical figures from all over the world and throughout history, from Hatshepsut to Harriet Tubman. I love that Anna Politkovskaya was included--she was truly a hero ahead of her time.
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a temporary digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.
Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Real-Life Tales of Black Girl Magic is another great instalment from the Rebel Girls team this time it is all about the wonderful stories from black girls who come from all walks of life and countries.
I learned about so many different women who I had never heard of but will definitely be researching more about.
I highly recommend this powerful empowering book to everyone.
My daughter and I love to read these books together at bedtime. It’s an amazing and timely collection to share together.
Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead.
I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings.
Anything requested and approved will be read and a decent quality review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.
Yet another popular installment to my library! I loved seeing students faces when they saw themselves on the cover. Many shouted "That looks like me! I've never seen myself in a book before!" Many also scoured the pages to see if they could find their role-model. It was truly inspiring to watch.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for giving me access to the advanced copy of this book to read.

I appreciate that in recent years, we've seen more and more books that are representative of the diversity that exist, notably with people of colour. This book contains many inspirational stories—even for adults, it can be a good read to get to know great women who should have been more famous.
I recommend it!
*I received an eARC and this is my honest opinion*
Another fun and informative read from the Rebel Girls.a
As always, the illustrations were FABULOUS and the short biographies were concise, yet very informative. I had a lot of fun reading this one, and I learned a lot about women who were too often left out of the history books.
Amazing honestly. A girl boom through and through. I loved this one especially so so much. I could relate to so many of them. It made me feel seen and appreciated. I just have no words. Amazing is all I can say.
I love the representation in this one and my students absolutely loved it, too. It actually prompted many of my students to research some of the women highlighted in this book. Thank you for all you do to get books like this published!
This was such a enjoyable read! I am definitely not the target audience for this as I do not have kids and am not one myself either. Still I really enjoyed the stories.
This book is a great way of telling children about different amazing people and I think especially for Black Girls, seeing such great role models is very important and I'm glad to see it.
I would definitely recommend it.
Oh i absolutely enjoyed this book so much! It was exhilarating and empowering to read about these different Black women across the world— even from places one would ignorantly assume Black women can’t exist in. I’d highly recommend this one for Black women and girls everywhere
