The book celebrates a diverse range of black women and highlights their achievements. There were many I had heard of, such as Amanda Gorman, Aretha Franklin and Naomi Osaka, but so many others I hadn't. The fact there were so many amazingly accomplished women I had never heard of, shows just how under-appreciated and overlooked they have been. These women have made significant contributions to our world and I was horrified by how many I wasn't familiar with. There were women I did know, but I wasn't aware of their individual stories and what led them to become inspiring leaders, champions, innovators, and creators. Their stories are so inspiring, not only to children but adults too.

The stories appear in alphabetical order so it's easy to find a particular one. Each story fills just one page and the illustrations are bold and eye-catching.

This is a wonderfully inclusive book that I would recommend to anyone.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this one!

This book was a warm hug, like all of the ones in this series. The inspiring stories told to inspire young black girls all over the world were amazing! These women were fascinating, and I’m glad they chose to write an installment about them. The illustrations were impeccable, as always.

Totally recommend picking this one up, even if you don’t have kids!

After reading Rebel Girls Lead I was exciting to get them chance to read this book from the same series. I like that the original volumes in this series highlight multiple races, but that there are installments such as this one that highlight one specific race - and I felt this was a great installment to add to the already existing titles. It includes Black women of varied nationalities, time periods, careers and more. I think this could serve as great inspiration for anyone looking for role models. The art too is a wonderful accompaniment to each story, showcasing the art style of many different artists and providing vibrant images of the women represented. I also appreciated that at the end of the book it showcases other Black women who are featured in the other installments in this series.

ANOTHER AMAZING REBEL GIRLS BOOK!

I am such a fan of these wonderful books created to educate and inspire young girls. As a mother to a smart and beautiful little 3 year old girl, this is the type of book that I want to read with my daughter! We are Asian and I am all for her learning more about Black Girl Magic! This is so important and I am so glad that there are books and resources like this available/accessible to our children.

I loved Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Real-Life Tales of Black Girl Magic from start to end! I learned so much from this book as there were so many women featured that I didn't know about. I truly enjoyed learning about each and every one of them! This book featured women I was already familiar with such as Kamala Harris, Amanda Gordon, and Aretha Franklin. This book also featured A LOT of important women that I have yet to learn about! What a wonderful way to introduce these amazing women! The illustrations were both vibrant and gorgeous! I also love how different artists are featured. So cool! The quotes were all well chosen and so inspirational. Each page features a short bio about each of these amazing women, along with an illustrated portrait. Since these books are geared towards young readers, I felt that the length of the bios were perfect! These women are so inspiring and I appreciated how different they all were.

Towards the end of the book you'll find the "Write Your Own Story" and the "Draw Your Own Portrait" sections! How awesome is that?! This gives every young reader a chance to think about their own story and what paths they might want to pursue later in life. I love this so much it makes me just want to hug this book!

Thank you so much to the publisher for giving me access to this amazing ARC in exchange for my honest review! I would recommend any of the Rebel Girls books to EVERYONE.

I received an electronic ARC from Rebel Girls through NetGalley.
Another powerful book in this series. Readers meet 100 Black women who have made/changed history. Told with one page bios and life like illustrations. So many more women are listed at the end to continue encouraging this generation to be their best. These women challenge each of us to look at ourselves and to speak out for justice.

This is a great addition to the Rebel Girls series. I never fail to find inspirational and fascinating stories in these volumes.

The advantage of there being many books in the series already is the authors are forced to look beyond the obvious, and are also able to focus on very current and contemporary figures. So, for example, the founders of #Blacklivesmatter are featured, along with Kamala Harris and the young poet who spoke at the 2021 inauguration. Very recent figures are side-by-side with freedom-fighters and queens from centuries ago!

As with past Rebel books, with so many people featured, you are not always going to agree with all the choices. Some of the people featured seem less inspirational than others, or are just good at what they do, like countless other people in the world. However, the balance is significantly on the plus side.

I was gobsmacked to read this in Alexa Canady's entry...Alexa was very smart, but only got so-so grades. Alexa's parents then found out "that Alexa's elementary school teacher had been switching her grades for a white student's." As a teacher myself, I just can't even imagine the thought process that was happening in that teacher's mind!

Another fantastic installment in the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls library. As has become the standard for these volumes, the included stories are wonderfully written and accompanied by visually stunning illustrations. I learned a lot about women I had never heard of before, or hadn't known much about. Which is why books like these are so important. They help me as a parent provide my children with a more inclusive and encompassing worldview than I had at their age, and that's a pretty amazing thing.

A must-buy for kids and adults alike.

A glorious book. #BlackGirlMagic, Black girls are magic. The stories contained therein are readable at the elementary school level and up. They would make perfect bedtime stories for the little ones.

They give insight into some of the sheroes of this age and the past. Magnificent and spectacular. Thank you for this compilation. I will be sending copies to the little ones in my life.

Inspiring. Powerful. Beautiful. I absolutely loved this compilation of stories about Black women from different countries and cultures and in all different fields of work, ranging age groups, and all shapes and sizes. The stories are so motivational showing wonderful Black women as activists, midwives, yoga teachers, astronauts models, poets; all inspirational in their own fields. Wonderful to show mybdaughters that women are brilliant in every field. This book importantly opened up conversations about Black culture and allowed us to chat about what is going on in the world and movements like Black Lives Matter. We are a white family, but it is important that my family talk about Black empowerment as I want a world where all are equal and are allowed to shine irrespective of colour or sex. As always woth Rebel Girls, the illustrations are absolutely stunning. We especially loved the blank pages at the end with Space for your own story and picture and the activity pages. I love books thatvspark great conversations and have us pouring over the pictures and information. This is another superb addition to the Rebel Girls family. Once again, we NEED to own the hardback. These books are too important and too beautiful to hide on our digital shelves. #goodnightstoriesforrebelgirls100reallifetalesofblackgirlmagic #netgalley

Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls never ceases to amaze me. Every volume is filled with inspirational stories from women who worked hard to achieve their dreams. This volume is dedicated to POC women from all walks of life. The book dedicates each of them a page to share their story and a beautiful illustration to match it. It was interesting to hear from doctors to poets to models. It was a nice surprise to see Dominique Jackson in here as well, I loved her as Elektra in Pose. And I love that the foreword is actually written by the person who coined the term “Black Girl Magic”.

It was a great read about women and girls of color. . It tells their stories of where they come from and how they would not let anyone stand in their way to reach their dreams. The stories are so inspiring that it will make young people no matter what color they are but especially young black girls feel proud and to do the same. Love this book.

Yet another powerful book full of powerful stories!

I don't think that there's a lot I can say other than stressing how important books like this are and the fact that I firmly believe that this book had better be in every library and school as soon as it comes out at the end of September.

Gorgeous illustrations, empowering stories, incredible women. A book full of real life magic!

This book is so so inspiring and I imagine it would have great impact on everyone who comes across it. I know it impacted me and I can only imagine what impact it would have had, had it been around when I was little.

This is such a wonderful collection, my favourite by far of the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls collection, I cannot wait to share it with my students!
The illustrations are beautiful and I love the inclusion of not only cis female contributors but also a more fluid approach to gender!
