I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Very quick easy read with only 92 pages, however felt it was a little bit predictable and everything seemed to tie together a bit too conveniently. Although I appreciate there is only so much you can cram in a quick read, I did feel as though it was lacking something. However it was an easy read and did have an uplifting story.

As quick reads go this was a good one. Katie Fforde rarely disappoints.
Everything all wrapped up a bit quickly and conveniently, but it was an enjoyable diversion and a bit of fun.

Short and sweet. I would have loved this to be a full novel rather than a quick read. Dont be mistaken for thinking that because it is short therenisnt a lot going on. Katie Fforde appears to have masters packing A LOT in. Glorious quick read packing quite a punch. Absolutely loved it

You can't g wrong with Katie Fforde and this glorious quick read does exactly what it says on the tin; charming, romantic, sweetly funny. Just the thing for an hour in the garden!

Short but sweet! I loved Allie's determination to chase her dreams and dump her loser boyfriend - a warm, funny read that I'd recommend.

Read and enjoyed the paperback book last year. Not sure why this then turned up on my Netgalley shelf.

This is a book which has been published as part of The Reading Agency’s Quick Read series. It’s only a short read, at least than 100 pages, and it’s quite a sweet read. It centres around Allie who wants to work in the local café, but she doesn’t really have any experience of baking or cooking. Her next door neighbour begins to teach her to bake to help her with the chance of securing her dream job!

Allie is a cute character, although she does seem very young for her age. She has a boyfriend, Ryan who’s a nasty piece of work and you will her throughout the story to do the right thing and kick him into touch. The storyline is quite basic, and as it’s only short, it’s finished before you get chance to properly get into the story. The Quick Read series is aimed at getting people into reading, who may never have read before, so I can understand why the writing does seem so basic. However, I have read other books within this series, and they have been a lot of more enjoyable, just shorter versions of what the authors would normally write. It’s was a good promise of a storyline, with some likeable characters, but unfortunately, this one didn’t really work for me as well as this author’s full length books do!

Saving the Day is a very sweet, in more ways than one, quick read about second chances and finding your passion.

Allie is stuck in a job she hates, in a relationship with Ryan, who treats her like a possession/skivvy.

Walking past Jango's cafe, she longs to work there but lacking any cooking skills she feels it's out of her reach.

A kindness for a neighbour, Cherry leads to a friendship and to Cherry teaching her to bake and cook.

Finding courage, Allie storms her baking challenge, and ditches the useless lump of a boyfriend.

A joyous quick read that will uplift and inspire.

Katie Fforde doesn’t disappoint with this quick read.
Allie bored with her job sees a vacancy at her favourite cafe despite knowing next to nothing about cooking she applied for the job in the hope of change.
Although just a short book the story really comes together.
A great read.

I really loved this short story and ploughed through it quite quickly. I’d say it took me a couple of chapters to get into but I really warmed to Allie as a character. The plot was simple and an easy read but with enough twists and turns to keep me hooked. Overall a great little read that I would recommend.

I've not read a quick read before and sadly this novella has put me off reading others. Of course a quick read, at just under 100 pages long, is likely to be succinct and to the point however, the writing here was so basic and simplistic that it just wasn't enjoyable for me. It felt almost like a young adult/teen book more than women's fiction.

I generally enjoy the writing of Katie Fforde so will stick with the full length titles in future.

This was a lovely short story. A lighthearted look at a normal life situation. Great characters and an appealing storyline.

I'm a big Katie Fforde fan and this was a great quick read to fill up a quiet evening. It's easy to read and has a happy ending, what more could you ask for?

What a charming full sized story delivered as a snack sized treat. Allie is stuck in a dead end job with an awful boyfriend and surrounded by people telling her this is as good as it gets. A chance meeting with her next door neighbour and the possibility of a new job in a cafe gives her hope of a positive change. Now all she needs to do is learn to cook!

This is my first book by Katie Fforde and it was enjoyable. A lovely quick read which didn’t take me long since it was so easy to get into. Would keep an eye on her future works now.

As ever with Katie Fforde you can pick up this book and immediately dive in and be lost. It is a quick read as stated and this is a perfect feel good book for that. A little far fetched but quite frankly a perfect book to wind down with at the end of a day!

A lighthearted read from a great author. Allie who lives with her widowed father, is trapped by her boyfried in a dead end job. However when the opportunity arises to work in the local cafe, she has to prove herself worthy and takes on the challenge, with the help from her next door neighbour of learning to cook. When the cafe looks like it will close, not only does Allie re-evaluate her own personal life, she sets out to help the owner who has put her trust in him and who without him, she wouldn't have had the confidence to make changes.

A good read that is brilliant for filling a spare afternoon or evening.
