Naturally I read this quick read on one sitting! It was easy to read and follow and was a great uplifting story!

It managed to make me hate Ryan’s character is only a few pages!

I did feel like Allie was written as a much younger character that she was supposed to be but overall enjoyable, simple, with good flow.

Saving the Day is a delightful story, with all the features expected of a Katie Fforde novel, just in a shorter format. Even within its few pages, there are believable characters, a good plot and a lovely building romance through the book. Not only is it a good read, Saving the Day is also supporting a great cause - Quick Reads, donating books. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a superb idea to have short stories written by contemporary authors. Long enough to keep you entertained but not too long to be daunting. A truly believable main character and touching on all manner of current situations.

A lovely quick read to keep me going until the next Katie FForde book. Not her usual style of book which was fun. Allie wants more to her life and this quick read gives a fast moving story on how she does that. Allie is a loveable character and you become her cheerleader through the book.

I have never read a quick read before but I really enjoyed it and took me less than a day to read. Would highly recommend.

Saving the Day might be a Quick Read but it's a complete story with developed characters and the warm friendships one would expect from Katie Fforde.

I like the idea behind quick reads, I think it's brilliant. But being an avid reader, it is not the right read for me, because when a story is good, like this one, I don't want it to end so soon.
A throughly enjoyable quick story, definitely recommended for readers in their 20s and early 30s.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A word about quick reads. Quick Reads is the life changing programme designed to tackle the adult literacy crisis in the UK by helping less confident readers enjoy literature. One in six adults in the UK find reading difficult and 1 in 3 don’t read for pleasure at all. The Quick Reads books which are available for £1 are designed to help inspire emergent readers and help those who have fell out of love with reading get back into it.

Saving the Day is a cute little story from one of my favourite romance authors. Despite its modern setting it takes the reader back to easier times without the muddles of online dating and other technology.

Allie hates her job in the supermarket and isn’t keen on boyfriend Ryan either so when a job comes up at the cafe she passes on her way to work each day, effectively her dream job she knows she needs to do two things to get the job and a better life. Firstly, learn to cook and secondly get rid of Ryan.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

A good quick read of new beginnings.

Allie is fed up of working in a supermarket, she sees an advert in a cafe window for a position. She speaks to the owner who loves her enthusiasm although Allie can’t cook unless it’s a ready meal. She meets her new next door neighbour who helps her to learn to cook and she gets the position in the cafe. The cafe is then threatened with closure. Can Allie come up with something to save the day.

This was just ok. I used to absolutely love Katie Ffordes books but just feel the writing is no longer as quick witted and funny as it was.

Saving the Day - Katie Fforde

Quick read books are just great! I really took to Allie, and was rooting for her and wishing her the best with her job and getting rid of horrendous boyfriend Ryan. I loved the side relationship between her neighbour and her dad, and the characters that revolve around her café life. Really loved this little quick read, I loved the characters and storyline so much I wish it had been a made into a fuller longer tale. You won't regret giving this little book a go! Thank you very much NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone publishers for the chance to read and give my honest opinions.

Allie is unhappy with her job,her boyfriend and knows things must change. will a job in a local cafe be better than the supermarket? A feel good story, ideal bed time reading.

I'm not sure how I ended up with this book to review, but possibly because I like Katie Fforde.

This is really a YA book for youngsters who don't particularly enjoy reading. It is somewhere between a short story and a novel. As with all of Katie's books it is well written but the characters and situations are a little cliched. There is a moral to the story and that is that we can all change our futures if we really want to. Good for the right target audience.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this book.

I am a big fan of Katie Fforde novels and when the opportunity came to read this short novella I of course jumped at the chance.

Allie is bored with her job in a supermarket and the people she works with, she is bored with her boyfriend Ryan. Every day she walks past a place she wants to work – a little café. One day she gets the chance.

But she needs to learn about cooking and learn that there is more to life than Ryan.

Grabbing every opportunity, Allie can see a different world in front of her.

A lovely book to escape to and enjoy anther world and also show you that all opportunities are out there and perhaps you just need a push in the right direction.

Perhaps that push is reading and Saving the Day is one of the 2021 Quick Reads series to encourage those who perhaps don’t read normally or struggle the starting blocks to discovering more adventures in the pages of books. Once you discover Katie Fforde you can indulge in all of her previous works and they will bring you sheer joy – guaranteed.

Short & sweet offering from Katie Fforde. A lovely story featuring interesting characters, I could quite happily have read this as a full-length book, but the brevity of the short story did not detract from the enjoyment of it.
Small but perfectly formed.

A very quick easy to read story with a predicable happy ending.
It centres around Allie who lives at home with her Dad, has a horrible boyfriend and a job she doesn’t enjoy.
A kind deed, returning her neighbours bin, has drastic consequences for Allie who sees her live turned around after the neighbour reaches her to cook so she can get a new job.
She gets rid of the boyfriend, gets the job and they’ll all lived happily ever after!

A great Quick Read from one of my favourite authors. Whether you have read Katie's books before or are new to her, this glimpse at her books will leave you wanting more. I'm sure this will appeal to the Quick Reads intended audience so that they want to seek out more of Katie's work.

Allie knows it’s time to make some changes in her life. Namely her dead end job and vulgar boyfriend. Follow her in this delightful short story about persistence, and tenacity.

Allie has always wanted to work in Jango’s cafe, rather than the supermarket where she currently is, one day she plucks up the courage to go in, and impresses the owner so much that he offers her the job, if she can learn to cook. Striking up a friendship with her new neighbour, Allie’s baking talents not only land her the job, but also gives her the strength to break away from dominating boyfriend Ryan.

So many reasons to buy and read this book.
